  1. I updated my post above a little, so the OEM system is an 8ohm system, and the subwoofer is 16ohm. A near difficult combination to find replacement speakers. The OEM 6x9 is actually a one-way woofer that handles only the lows. The PPS8-6 is a two way (from what i read) midbass but since the ML system is set for a tweeter for high, a mid for the mids, and the woofer for the bass only the bass plays through that RF speaker. It was a great replacement. I'm very happy with the results. The bass is amazing without that ghetto "shake the block" sound. Really clean. And since the mids and highs are still intact, the sound is concert quality. Since you have the door apart, I would recommend using either repair foam or (as I did) use silicone to strengthen the cone on the mid in the door. Also, yes the only true modification is adding an adapter plate. You will have to modify the wire harness slightly since the RF has quick push connect push terminals.
  2. I upgraded my speakers to Rockford Fosgate. In the door PPS8-6, which are 6.5" 8ohm midbass. In the rear, Rockford Fosgate 4" 4-ohm. I had to use an adapter plate but am so happy with the results. Better sound than the overrated ML speakers. HUGE DRIVER MAGNETS! Might be for some interest for you to check out rather than the foam repair.
  3. Good thinking Paul, hopefully it's just something as simple as someone forgot to plug the harness into the speaker. I will admit that I've done it. I buttoned up the entire door panel and then realized that I wasn't getting any sound from the speaker. Had some serious debate on whether I wanted to take the door apart again of not. In the end, I bit the bullet and did the tear down again. Hopefully it's something simple and not too invasive. PS. once you have the door panel open you can always use a voltmeter to check if the amp is putting out voltage by "jumping" the speaker leads in the harness.

  6. Mine work equally on both sides in the situation you've requested. Sounds like maybe the wire harness to the woofer in the door wasn't reconnected. Did you have any work done in the doors?
  7. I had the same problem on my passenger side. Same screw was missing. Guess this must be a common problem. They must just shake loose with time. Good idea to anyone who's experiencing cabin noise to check and tighten these screws. It is a little tricky to get under the seat enough to line the screw up properly though. Took me some effort, for sure.
  8. First thing, I would check the fuses for the antenna. Then you could check the connections on the back of the radio. One is for the telescoping antenna (Motorola connector- large) and a smaller Lexus specific antenna for the windshield antenna. You can check to make sure these wires are plugged in. Here's a good link to help with the teardown to get to the back of the radio. http://www.sound-repair.com/index.php/lexus-sc430-04-09-stereo-removal-instructions/
  9. Yeah, updating the system is a little tough due to backward compatibility. Unfortunately, the links you posted with the Gateway options are tough to decide if compatible as they don't show the wiring harness. My 2002 uses a "BIG 12 (7+5) harness," whereas later Sc430's use a "Small 12 (6+6) harness," from what my research revealed. VaisTech SL3U has been proven to work with our models and thus I stuck with the trial and errors of other owners. You could take a chance on this gateway and report back. Would be really great to have another option other than VaisTech as they don't offer any discount as they know they own the market for our vehicles so they can set the going rate on their product (no competition). Another question you might want to ponder, will attaching this gateway disable the 6 disc CD player. I tried a few different products and in the end none truly worked (Blitzsafe was the closest to functional). Some manufacturers did indicate that attaching their devices would disable the 6 disc changer. VaisTech's SL3U still allows the CD changer to be functional. Food for thought. Please let us know what path you take. Thanks! UPDATE: you can also search that other site i posted for mods where people have updated their screens and DVD player hardware to allow better map software and bluetooth. There's also a post in which someone added an afttermarket tablet in place of the OEM screen. Good luck. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-430/736625-goodbye-navi-hello-windows-8-os-macos.html#post8472750
  10. So I've done quite a bit of mods on my car. including adding Vaistech SL3U Aux input, Asus Media Player, Reverse Cam, NAVIKS (like Navtool), Rockford Fosgate speakers, and lots of other mods. I kept the OEM head unit and am using an A/B RF keyfob switch to allow activation of my "extras." I added this and it might help solve your situation... http://www.ebay.com/itm/301130833379?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649. Here's the thread on my build... http://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-430/691835-dvdnav-media-integration-naviks.html UPDATE: Only thing I'm unsure of, if you connect the iPhone to a TV at any time will it show your nav directions? If so, then this plan would work for you. If not, then I'm not sure how to duplicate the image on the phone to the OEM screen.
  11. You can have them reupholstered. It's a ton of work and could get pricey. I know they also sell the entire leather unit as a whole but you'd still have to dismount the current leather. Check you PM's.
  12. Could it be the headlight leveling system? I've heard of other owners experiencing problems with them and it would result in a similar sound if they just continued to whir as they aren't leveling out. The blown fuse could just be a coincidence.
  13. Does the telescopic steering work properly? Might be a burned out motor or shredded gear teeth. Check the tilt and telescoping features and let us know.
  14. check out the lexus map selection... we have a Gen3 or Gen6 (2010) player. So now you have to find a Gen3 or Gen10 upgrade disc that has a version newer than yours. Version 12 is the newest for the SC430. Good luck https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/info/my-lexus/resources/navigationmaps.do
  15. Check out this thread. I will also PM you some info... http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/72398-backup-camera/
  16. I had this problem last summer and it turned out to be a bad O2 sensor. There are 4 sensors (Driver, Passenger, Upstream, Downstream), so an OBD-II should be able to tell you which sensor has the problem. Unfortunately, depending on the sensor and it's location, it could be an easy or complicated fix. Good luck to anyone that has this problem. I took mine to a local exhaust shop who changed my Bank2 Upstream (Passenger side) for about $100.
  17. It's a full license plate frame with built in camera. Bought it from Walmart.com. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Crimestopper-SV-5420.IR.BC-0.33-CMOS-License-Plate-Camera-with-180-Degree-Viewing-Angle-Black-Chrome/24458422. It's really easy to install the camera once you add the NavIKS. I recommend doing both (Naviks and camera) at the same time though, since you will have the entire trunk lining out.
  18. where did you buy the LED light for the SC430 Check out http://store.ijdmtoy.com/.
  19. Thanks my friend. It looks im gonna order new style of tail lights for my sc430 without computer. I really dont care warning at my console! :) Would you give me the best prices for those new stye tail lights? And would it be so difficult to match to old place? That matching garnish cost? For headlights? Can i change the style? If there is not much cost,i would but i think no neccesarry :) Those sites that I've provided have the only price that i know. I don't know of anything cheaper than that. The new style are different from the old style and you will have to modify the body of the vehicle to mount properly, as they aren't the exact same shape as the older style. There will be a small gap b'c the new ones are an inch smaller. Usually the garnish is sold with the lights, so you will have to confirm with the seller from which you purchase to make sure he will sell you both. Changing the style requires modification, but I'm not sure to what extent since I have never done the change.
  20. Yes those lights are very expensive for the lights alone. The ECU (computer) is even more expensive. If you choose to get the lights without the computer then you will always have a warning light on the dashboard that shows that one of your lights is not working properly. Many people put the new lights in and just ignore the warning light b'c they choose not to buy the computer. Also you will need to purchase the matching garnish (red part on the trunk lid) for the newer lights since the old garnish has vertical lines and a different size/shape. I will PM you a link that will explain more.
  21. Are you looking for just the bulbs, or the entire light housing? If you need just bulbs, have a look at http://store.ijdmtoy.com/. If you need the actual parts, I suggest using either http://lexus.sewellparts.com/, http://www.ebay.com/, or (since you are in Turkey) a Polish site that I used when I was in Europe called http://allegro.pl/, but you will have to use Polish language to search. Also searching for the Lexus "Soarer" works. Good luck.
  22. MC17, I am also interested. Where are you located and how much are you asking? I would only need one also. Please let us know. Thanks.
  23. Sorry to hear about your bad luck. No, I was able to keep my same rims; just brand new tires. Official Lexus Spare Kits are quite expensive. http://lexus.sewellparts.com/accessories-catalog/viewall/SC430-2002-310.html. There are other options out there, like using a Mazda RX-8 spare and a few others, but I like having my trunk space so I just keep a can of TPMS Safe Fix-A-Flat just in case. I know I'm taking a gamble, but not really any alternatives.
