  1. Try lextasy....that is where I got mine...install was four bolts and took about 45 minutes....you can always take it to a dealer and they will do for ~$100....
  2. Most places will give you the option to put nothing down...however, you need to remember that you will be upside down on this loan (meaning you owe more than it is worth) throughout most of the life of the loan (assuming 72 month tenor)... There is nothing wrong with this, but some lenders will require gap insurance (insuring the difference between the loan value and the value of the car) which will add to financing costs. In addition, if you are going to be upside down you will want to hold onto the car for at least 5 yrs (so that you will at least be at breakeven)...given that this is a Lexus forum, we all love the cars, so keeping it 5+ years is not really a problem... :D Happy Hunting!
  3. My 1998 gets between 260 - 330 per tank.... So I would say that 250 is about right for 70% city driving.
  4. Can't wait to hear how it is done...this would rush my purchase.
  5. Use premium...it is better for the engine, in general...you bought a Lexus and if you want to take care of it, spend the extra $3-$4 per tank....if you really think about it, it is a no-brainer....it costs on average $.20 more per gallon and you fill up w/ 15 - 17 gallons you are only talking about $3.00 - $3.40 more per tank. Also, the more expensive gas becomes the cheaper the premium becomes as a percentage of the regular. In short, you really aren't saving that much $$$ by putting in the regular gas.
  6. Got 90K on my 98 and still yet to have a problem....plus, it was a CPO about four years ago B)
  7. Go to lextasy.com....good price and they will match the OEM paint of the car.
  8. I ordered mine from www.lextasy.com. Good price, the paint matched the color of the car and it fits like a gem.
  9. Mine say the same thing although none have been replaced. Enjoy the new ride!
  10. I got mine from Lextasy.com. It was nice quality and the paint matched exactly (price was around $280). I cannot tell the difference between it and OEM. The only downside was it took about 2 weeks to receive the part.
  11. It is right by the gear shift. It is a little "flip up" area which reveals the cupholder. It is a horrible design though and does not fit many cups. Definitely my biggest complaint about my '98 GS.
  12. The best solution I have found for a car mount is the cup holder to cell phone cradle adapter. I have one for my PDA (to use GPS via the Pocket PC) and it mounts perfectly from the cupholder. It can be a little cumbersome, but a better solution than drilling holes in the dashboard.
  13. Yes, they do...I ordered one about 6 months ago and it came painted and matched exactly the color of my ride (98 GS300). They are pretty friendly and I received it in less than two weeks. Would definintely do business with lextasy again. B)

  15. I have a FM modulator in mine for a MP3 player. There is obviosuly a loss in quality so you have to turn up the reciever a little bit more. Also note, that if you are in an area that has an abundance of radio stations (ie. Los Angeles) then you might have to keep changing the frequency that you use (or at least this has been my experience). For example on the way to work I had to change the frequency three times (in a 20 mile drive). However, it does the job that you are looking for and at 15 bucks it is much cheaper than overhauling the stereo to add an mp3 player.
  16. I have a 98 GS 300 and I just bought an OEM spoiler from lextasy.com. Just got it installed and it looks sweet. The price is great, but it did take a couple of weeks so that they could color match it. But it fits, looks great, and includes the LED.
  17. It is probably not smart to do, but I have a 98 GS300 and I had it up to 140 on the way to Vegas...suprisingly, it was still pretty smooth. The most important thing is to not get caught or you won't have that car very long.
  18. I roll with a 85% (which corresponds to a 15% in the above message) and it is fine. If you want someone to see the luxuorious gentleman driving then roll down the windows. At least get the back windows done at a dark tint and lighten up the front if you want. It still looks smoove. I live in Cali where the front windows are illegal, but we rarely get pulled over. In short, all five windows cost me $95. Dont know where you live, but if in SoCal let me know and I can give you some recommendations.
  19. I have a 98 GS300 and am about 70/30, but it is in LA so part of the 70 is a parking lot, but I get around 22. What kind of gas are you using?
  20. I would like one that is built into the console...no need for it to hide when it is not in use. I would kind of like the screen to fit in the area where the stereo is and not look like it was done in a hurry. I am in Southern California (LA, to be exact), so I know there are a lot of places that can do it, but where and what kind of systems are the main questions. Still, does anyone know if you can get it from the factory and have it installed? I think that might be my best option.
  21. I am in the market for an after market navigation system for my 1998 GS300. Actually, I am in the market for a NAV kit regardless. Does anyone know if you can buy the NAV kit from the dealer after the purchase? If not, are there any that fit well into the console? I want the navigation to look as seemless as possible and am willing to pay for the look. I assume that a professional installation will be necessary, but I am looking to determine if their are any models that fit without too many adjustments.
