  1. my 2005 sc430 had the same problem. brake pad clips on front OEM pads seem to allow the pad to move forward and back when you reverse and then drive forward. replaced mine with bendix ceramic pads. problem solved...
  2. I had the same problem. It is the clips on the brake pads. The OEM pads move forward and back in the caliper. The position of the clips change when you reverse and then drive forward. Replaced them with Bendix ceramic pads and had them fitted by a brake specialist. problem solved
  3. You could have suspension or other problems but I just fixed a squeak that occurred only with the top up by the following: Begin lowering the roof and stop the process by letting go of the button while the roof is just setting down in the trunk. This leaves the raised covers pointing up vertically to let the roof pass. (When the roof is up these covers form the rear "package shelf".) In the center of the car just under this cover there is a round black rubber bumper stop the size of a 50 cent piece (whatever those are). This stop is adjustable up-and-down. Rotating it counterclockwise raises the stop and clockwise lowers it. I raised my rubber stop, by hand, a couple of turns upward. For my SC that's all it took. The squeak is gone. This bumper helps to bind the package shelf to the roof when it is up and stops if from moving around - and squeaking. I don't know the Lexus method for adjusting this bumper stop but a turn or two worked for me. Good luck! Hi there, I tried your method to turn the stop up as I have pretty much the same rattle on my SC430. The rattle stopped for a few days but came back again after I had my top down/up. Is there anything I can do about it? Thanks I had the same problem and solved it with the above adjustement to the bump stop AND by lubricating all the roof rubbers with glycerine (glycerol) while the roof was half up
  4. 'Was able to source a Bendix ceramic pad from the US (Car Part Kings). They work beautifully.
  5. Hey Moeducate, Tks for the tip. What Continental tyres were they ? The Bridgestone Potenzas I have at the moment seem to create the jolts you mentinoed. peter townsville
  6. I had this problem and it seemed to come from two sources: 1) if you raise the roof and then pause the action halfway, it exposes a rubber bump stop on the black panel that would ordinarily be called the parcel shelf. The rubber bump stop can be screwed up or down. If it is too far down, the parcel shelf creaks 2) also, if you raise the roof and pause it halfway, it exposes all the roof rubbers. Wipe some glycerine (glycerol) on the all rubbers. Glycerine is a lubricant that rejuvinates rubbers. These two fixes seemed to work for me.
  7. I had the same problem on my 2005 sc430. It was the clips attached to the brake pads. The sc430 uses a brake pad clip mechanism that I haven't seen before. The stock pads make this noise by moving forwards and backwards when you reverse and then drive forward. I replaced mine with Bendix ceramic pads. problem solved
