  1. Hey all, Recently my O/D light has started to flash. It isn't affecting the cars normal driving. I am not bogging down or anything like that. I have no Check Engine Light. Just the O/D light flashing. I read previous posts on here that said it usually is related to the Torque Converter or something tranny related. Well here is where the question comes in. Toyota dealer in my area said that he has never seen that problem on these cars and that it is actually the speed sensors. Is this an accurate diagnosis. If it is, are the speed sensors something I can replace or are they something that requires the tranny to be dropped to be replaced. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  2. I actually did the same retarded thing. And taking it out on the highway is not the answer. I tried this as well and actually almost ruined the car. When I tried to drive it around the cats ended up turning a bright orange. Luckily I didn't ruin those as well. With the way these cars are made, you need to have the plugs replaced. I took mine to Toyota. Whole job was about 400. Good luck.
  3. Hey all, I have been having some odd troubles with my 92 SC300. Earlier this month when I would go to start the car, it would click but wouldn't turn all the way over. I would have to try starting it several times or put the car into a different gear and then try. This morning at about 5:45 in the morning, my life turned into a living hell for myself and my neighbors. When I tried to start the car this morning, (hard to describe but...) it was almost like the car got stuck in this repetitive starting mode. The stupid thing kept clicking and clicking even when I turned the ignition off and took the key out. With sparks flying the only thing I could do was to disconnect the battery. Any ideas?
  4. I have searched endlessly on these forums to come to the conclusion that there is no help (or I should say) no definitive help. So I am making a post. Let's start here. I live in Tampa Bay area and can't find a mechanic (except for Lexus or Toyota to work on my car). The only guy willing to work on my car told me he thought this issue was a transmission issue. Whn I finish the post you will understand why I disagree. I made the mistake of cleaning my Engine with Engine Brite and then spraying it down with a hose. Not a good idea on a 92 lexus sc300. I thought I just had water in my distributor. Took the advice of family and opened the hood and let the hot Florida sun do it's work in drying it out. No avail. It started and ran, but when we got back from the test drive, my catalytic converter and manifold were glowing a nice bright orange (yes, almost on fire). Now, my car will turn over , but will not start. I am fresh out of college and have very little money to be dumping into my car. Please help, I am lost and have no clue on this current situation. Thanks in advance.
  5. I can't get my serpentine belt back on. Can anyone help me. I feel like a complete !Removed! because I know I am looking right at the answer. I have a 92 SC300. Thank you for your help.
  6. I am still having trouble with one hose. There is one large bolt, that is connected to a line that runs underneath to the bottom of the car. How do I get this disconnected. When I get it loose, there is a bar that hits on the PS pump. Help Please????
  7. Can anyone give me a little guidance on removing my old PS pump and installing my new PS pump. The car is a 92 SC300 Automatic. Thanks everyone.
  8. I just moved to Florida. Before I left I did all the necessary maintenance on the SC to make sure my drive from Pennsylvania to Florida went smoothly. Yesterday I decided to check my oil to make sure the car wasn't using any, that was fine. What frightened me is that the Coolant Resivoir was empty. There was no puddles where the car is normally parked. Now, I don't know if my imagination is running wild because I'm all freaked out about this, but I filled the resivoir and the car seems to be running a little warmer than normal. It used to get just to the middle line and stay there. Now it goes beyond the middle line. Is there something I am missing, why did the car use all the coolant? I need help. It is too hot down here to be driving with these kinds of issues.
  9. Just got my new switch and it didn't help. On to the next step. Maybe the motor or possibly a wire issue. I may just end up taking it to the dealer. I am in Florida and it is too stinkin' hot to be driving around with only the sunroof and one window working.
  10. I'm having the same problem. I just bought to new switches off of ebay. I will let you know when I receive them if this is a possible fix.
  11. Well, in case anyone has this similar problem...I ripped almost the entire car apart trying to locate the wireless ecu. I finally located it. To get to the wireless ecu, first remove the seat deck for the rear sit by lifting up on one side then the opposite side. You have to give a little tug, but they will pop up. I believe the socket size to use next is 10mm maybe 12mm. Unbolt the bolts holding the backrest for the back seat and remove this piece as well. Next gently remove the side panel in the back seat behind the passengers seat. This is where the wireless ecu is located. You will need a philips head screwdriver and a pair of needlenose pliers to remove the old chip and insert the new chip. After replacing the chip, close the doors and give your new chip a try. Then just reverse the steps to replace all of the panels and seat parts. Good luck and have fun.
  12. Another question. I just bought 2 new master keys with a new chip on ebay. However, I have no clue where this chip is supposed to go on my 92 SC. My dad has a GS and an ES and said that in his trunk there was a box with an FCC label on it. I cannot locate such a thing on my car. Can anyone help me.
  13. The reason I believe it is the switch or wiring and not the motor is because the button for the passenger side window does not work either. I can however lower the window on the passenger side with the switch on the passenger door. The plastic breaking off inside sounds familiar. When I pulled the switch a little round plastic piece fell out. The Drivers side door button does not click the passenger side button clicks. How would you fix this problem and why would that be the problem if the other button is not working?
  14. My window switch on the drivers side of my 92 sc300 just stopped working. All the other buttons on the switch work. Do I have a wiring issue or does the switch just need replaced?
