  1. www.techinfo.lexus.com It's $10 a day. That is the only place you would want to look info. Don't bother with other manuals. JP Importz
  2. Blake, We called your cell and home phone no luck. We were getting worry. So glad that you are ok. If you need anything let us know. We will be here for you. Call me when you can. JP Importz
  3. All I am saying is that I have never seen varnish on any engine of mine or family's. If you have varnish you have neglected the engine in some form (mostly oil, duration or low add pkg oil being used). If you use a better oil, you will have LESS or NO oxidation happening when the oil is to hot and vaporizing leaving varnish behind. So if you have varnish, this is the starting of deposits/sludge. Also if you have varnish I would test the oil for oxidation/nitration. They will be high. Persoanlly I would use a better oil or shorten the intervals you are doing now down some; since they are too long. Hence, more oil changes. In a group 4 or 5 you should never see varnish. In a synthetic oil ,for example a group 3, you will have varnish quicker then a 4 or 5. ← There is a long discussion about this topic. Mike was kind enough to get the oil sample test for us. Changing the valve covers alone won't fix it. JP Importz
  4. Hey guys, Let me clear off the false information floating around. This is a quick easy way to know if it's the interference. Engine with VTT-i will be interference motor. Lexus introduced the VVT-i technogy back in 98 not 99. Year 97 and older is non interference. The following items should replace while doing your timing belt: water pump, cams and crank seal, drivebelt, check timing belt and idler pulley. Good luck. JP Importz
  5. I would drain those orange stuff out of your cooling system and get Toyota coolants. JP Importz
  6. Which oil light came on? The red or yellow one? I would hook up a mechanical pressure gauge to see what kind of pressure you are getting. Pressure at idle have to be 43 psi or more. At 3000 rpm pressure should be from 43-85 psi. If pressure reading is ok, take a look at your pressure switch. Let us know sir. JP Importz
  7. Hello John, We would love to match the price, but our prices are set and it won't be fair to our clients by giving you a better discount. Please let us know if we can assit you in the near future. JP Importz
  8. You can email us the photos, spec, and prices of your vehicle. We will be happy to pass the words along to your lexus clients. Good luck selling the vehicle sir. jpimportz@yahoo.com JP Importz
  9. I've heard about JP's good reputation and I dont mind the drive. I got a decent quote from them for timing belt, pump, coolant but adding in cam/crank seals is $165x2. Yikes! At these prices I'm tempted to waste a weekend and do it myself.:cries: ← Hello John, The $165 is for cams(2) and crank seal. Our work is back by 20k miles or 20 months warranty. We will pick up your vehicle and drop off a loaner at your front door at no charge. Our service is better than your lexus dealership! Pictures will be taken during the repair and email to you. We only use Lexus factory parts! JP Importz
  10. We have seen many walbro pump fail ;) . It's scary that the pump fail at WOT and leave a couple of holes in the pistons. JP Importz
  11. ← The ride is too harsh for him. He is used to the Lexus soft and luxury set up. Personally I think the car handles much better with the aftermarket springs and shocks. JP Importz
  12. What solenoid? I have a couple of tranny at our shop. jpimportz@yahoo.com JP Importz
  13. Congruate on the new SC430... You will love it. What color is it? Make sure you rortate the tires every 5000 miles. JP Importz
  14. larryp, I feel that I may have a small leak somewhere in my A/C system (don't know if it's a line or what) because when I purchased the vehicle last May (it has been exactly a year) the A/C was working fine all the way until last month (April). If I have a leak I feel it may be a really small and slow leak. I don't know how to go about finding the leak without paying a crap load of money at some mechanic shop. And the price on the dryer is pretty good but how much to install it? Can I do it myself? And where do I get PAG46 compressor oil? And do most shops have the machines to remove the R12 oil? I need a little more detailed steps in what I should do. Thanks all. ← Hey Brian, I would advise you to find the leak and then convert it over to r134a. Here are the common problems on the Ls400: leaky compressor(front seal), leaky high pressure hose(this hose coming off the compressor) and leaky evaporator core. Apply 1 pound of freeze 12 into the system and the the dye. Get black light and find your leak. Once the leak is located, go ahead and replace the unit. Flush all the lines and replace all the 0-rings. Don't forget to add some oil, change out the fittings, vaccum the sytem. Close both manifold gauge to see if the pressure do hold. Apply the right amount of r-134a and you are good to go. I do miss a couple of items but feel free to email me. Have a cool summer because it's hot in Dallas :( . JP Importz
  15. What test did they perform to conlude that your alternator doesn't work properly? How many amps does the vehicle put out when it's at 2000rpm with high beam on and heater switch on "HI" position? You should get at least 30 amps for more. Did they leave the car overnight to perform a drop voltage test? What was the voltage reading when the cd unit turn on? I could assit you with this matter if you don't mind provide me some more datas and some testing. Let us know sir. JP Importz
  16. He did everything by himself. Brave guy :D JPI
  17. Do you have any service record at all? These are the folowing items that you should look into before purchasing the vehicle: Valve cover gaskets, timing belt, water pump, cams and crank seals, plugs, wires, engine mounts, transmission mounts, lower ball joints, rear knuckle bushings, lower control arms, front brakes. These items need replacement at this mileage. Good luck with the purchase, You will love it! JP Importz
  18. I never see the knock sensor on this vehicle goes out. Unless you replace the starter and damaged it. JPI
  19. The rear diff bushings do go out. I'm a young guy myself but I do know my lexus <_< . JPI
  20. Up to the top so we people can read it :P JPI
  21. Blake, Make sure your engine mounts and transmission mount are in good condition. Also there are two bushings in the rear diff, We never see the U joints on the lexus go out ever. Also you might want to look at the kick down cable. Give us a ring if you can't figure it out. JP Importz
  22. ← I wouldn't change the springs or shock. We put a couple of aftermarket springs and shocks on the Ls400 and they hated it. Stick with the stock unit. JP Importz
  23. Craig, There is no Throttle body spacers in the Ls400. Did you mean the gasket? JP Importz
  24. When doing the timing belt, I would suggest that you replace the following items while you are at it: Water pump, cam and crank seals, coolant pipe 0-ring(very very important). Also inspect the timing belt tensioner and pulley. Your water pump and cam seals might not leak at the time, but 25k down the road they will and you have to pay the tech doing the same job over again. An experience lexus tech will advise you to have these things done at the same time. This is how we remove the 22mm crank bolt. Remove the transmission cover plate, it has two 12mm bolts. Put a pry bar in the flex plate, this method will keep the crank spinning. We never use the starter trick, it will damaged the starter or the flex plate. Have fun guys. BTW, David don't forget to line up your timing marked :P JP Importz
  25. These are lexus not Nissan. We barely see any injector problems on the ES300. JPI
