  1. So i got the car back today...

tested one of their 2002 and it has the noise too...while mine is quieter i guess...

then i find out while they replaced the spiral cable, they didn't put hte steering wheel back properly......now i gotta put my wheel at 1 o'clock to drive straight...GREAT!

Last year i took my old 03 rx300 in to have them balance and do a rotation (i think?) and when they were done my steering wheel was unbalanced too. Then as i began to drive i couldn't steer! I was turning the wheel but the car didn't move. Then it was working again....it was VERY scary but they fixed it!

    that's so dangerous...

no matter what i'm taking it back tomorrow(for the past week, my car has been there for 4 days now...)

the alignment was pretty straight for 4 yrs and suddenly this...

  3. I told the tech to do it. I don't get the groaning sound, but clicking noise from turn wheel slightly in either direction at any point.

They said they tested some of the used RX and it kinda produce the same sound, but I personally never had this problem for 4 yrs, and all of a sudden this...

  4. I've been wondering what kind of oil Lexus uses? dino??

Last time they charged me $100 Cdn just to do an oil change...that's

    expensive!

My car has about 15000miles right now and it's a 01.

Can I change the trans oil in like 20k miles or 25ish?

  5. Hello,

I've searched around already and can't quite get the answer.

    Got a 2001 RX300, no HID :(

Left side's low beam is higher than right side(opposite of factory settings)

Never been in accident or anything, so i assume it just went out of aim throughout the years.

I only see one screw on top of the high beam housing and no other screws. It does not give suggestion of which direction actually lowers the beam and also whether or not it's only for high beam.

Can somebody help me plz. Thank you!

  6. omg...

i just got this problem too...

When it goes up, it makes groaning sound.....and it's as if it doesn't want to go up.

When it goes down....it makes screeching sound...the antenna isn't straight for sure since I tried to turn it a little and feel the mash inside(correct?)...

still in warranty, will they take care of this problem?

for the past 3 months, i've brought my car in for like 4-5 problems.....

  7. Hello everybody...

My dad just took the car for the repair(finally they have the parts) and I especially asked the advisor to print me the TSB.

This fix applies to 2001-2003 RX300 and was released on March 11, 2005(quite new...almost the same time as the RX330 fix).

    TSB2095: Engine Mechanical

    Title: Fuel Injector Ticking Noise

    Introduction:

Some cusomters with 2001-2003 model year RX300 vehicles may complain of a "ticking" noise from the engine compartment when the engine is idling. Updated fuel main tube and fuel tube clamp are now available. In addition to updated parts, a second fuel pressure pulsation damper assmebly has been added to imporve this condition.

Hope this helps those that are having the "ticking" noise problem. I will be driving the car soon to verify that it did fix the problem.

  8. Naa it should be the same. The AWD RX is a little bit heavier which might make some difference, but not much.

The RX is front biased AWD, it basically is FWD all the time unless there is slippage occuring then it shunts some power to the rear. Where the power is going doesnt make any difference in noise.

If RX is front wheel biased....y is it still using so much gas...especially for the RX300...cuz of its weight?

How much more does it weight over a ES300 or camry?

Just say it goes like 100/0 or 95/5, it wouldn't have as bad fuel economy as a car that's like 50/50.

  9. Hey Wing0,

how did it go with the injector noise ....were they able to put the new parts you spoke of early on and did it make a difference ???

DiD they say it was considered a TSB ??

Still waiting for phone call...and then i gotta set up an appointment cuz i'm not free everyday to bring the car in. Might take a week or 2...

Sorry...I was referring to the service when they checked on the noise, that's when the screw went missing.

  10. I have this nasty rattle after going to the dealership. I cleared up everything in the car and went on a test drive to find the noise. At first i thought it was the glovebox that was rattling. Instead, it's the 2 piece plastic that goes from the shifter down to the front passenger footwell. Looks like there's a missing screw, so now the whole plastic is flapping(no wonder i hear rattle when i make a left). I would assume that the screw can't just fall out like that, so why would they need to take that plastic out and forgot to put the screw back? Now they got a third thing to do for me now.

  11. Please keep us posted ....I would be very interested in hearing about this issue.

Wonder if the "pipe" is the fuel injector rail ?  There is a clear filter looking device on the end of the rear injector rail....... wonder if that is the "damper" ??

The rail system difinitely magnafies the ticking noise.

I hate that ticking noise  B)

They just gave me a call about the parts. Said head office have them so it should be here within a few days. I sure hope this fix or at least minimize the noise tho. Why can't they just replace the fuel injectors, or this is happening to all the 3.0 V6? When i drove the ES330 loaner, it was silky smooth, not a single sound in cabin and the transmission...i wish we have 5 spd...better shifts/gas milage and not as much worry about it as opposed to our 4spd. :(

  12. Just went to Lexus to have a few things checked and repaired.

I had them check the ticking noise(which i already suspected is the fuel injector). They also told me so, but after telling them that it just started this after owning the car for 2 yrs. (2001 w/ 20000 km). They investigated into the issue. The fix is not ready yet, but they said they have to order the parts. Give me some input if this is some kind of TSB or REALLY a fix or improvement.

"There is an update to reduce noise level. Needs to replace fuel pipe, damper and gasket"

Which damper are they referring to?

    Cheers.

  13. fuel injector noise?

uh...why doesn't this sound come when u first bought the car??

don't tell me it's because the injector is getting old.

lol...i'm still bringing it in for the rear hatch and see what they say about this.

if this is the noise that the fuel injector is making and it's loud enough to go through the insulation(while u merely hear your engine sound) then i gotta say there's something wrong with the injector.

  14. 2001 RX300

    13k miles

Notice noise from the front belt. I think it's pretty close to the bumper right? I can hear belt noise when i'm standing infront of the hood.

In the cabin, with everything off ie. no air and music.

A ticking noise can be heard, even after car warms up. It's winter in Canada, so around -5C. The noise interval is constant and is coming from the hood when in cabin. Even turning air to around 3 bars, i can still hear the ticking noise. While stepping on the gas, engine is noticeably noisier, sounds a little like diesel engine in comparison with noise during summer. Finally, the noise seems to be toward the front passenger's end.

Just had service in the summer, everything checked out ok.

Also, rear hatch opens half way, then stops. Have to push it up fully, hope lexus agree that it has problem and replace the shock thing.

What could be the problem? Should I take it to Lexus and have them listen to the sound? and drive one of their used RX300 for comparison?

Thanks for reading and feedback is appreciated!

    Merry Christmas!

  15. When u say 5000 miles or 6 months...whichever comes first right??

my mom has a 2001 RX with 14000 miles.....she doesn't drive it much and it's almost always city driving so it'll take a while to get that 5000 miles...

I guess it's safer to get a oil change every 6 months then right?? but lexus charge a lot for just oil change tho...would a toyota dealership change it? I can probably do it myself, but rarely at home to do this.
