  1. ^ Nice, it would catch my attention, that's for sure! RX350, 2008, can't remember at the moment if we're the 2nd or 3rd owner, (I'm thinking 2nd) $24300 + tax CAD, Auto Price Canada in Mississauga, (nice indoor showroom) So far, about 2 months owned, no issues other than the wife accidentally pulling off passenger side vent adjuster, (easy fix, not sure how she pulled it off exactly) No other fixes & I do most things myself @ home in our garage Zero mods, but the wife would like to eventually keep the stock wheels/rubber for winter & get a set of "flashier" wheels... I'm 29, but the RX is insured under my wife's name. She's 25 & pays $102/month, (group insurance) Still need to post some pics of the Rexus, but it's Bamboo Pearl w/ tan leather and standard 6 spoke Lexus rims.
  2. From my experience, lay out the pulled parts in the order they're pulled. Basically, you're placing them on a clean surface in the order they will go back in. Should still look like the internals of the head in their proper location once everything is pulled. Now, since it's a Lexus & a little complex, I'd take pictures of each step, write mental notes down, etc. Last thinng you wanna do is forget how to put Humpty-Dumpty back together again Goodluck with your father/son project, can't wait until my son is old enough to work with me in the garage!
  3. It's a stock GE block with the first Turbo East setup back in 2002. I'm assuming you want to do a GTE swap. ^ Yes, 2JZ GTE swap if I had ever bought an IS300, or just Turbo the existing motor. Never did buy a IS300 when I had the disposible cash, decided to be "responsible" when I was younger & pour my money into real estate instead of cars...oh well. Now I have a nice family home, wife & 2 kids & the wife drives an RX while I'm driving a matrix. (mabye I'll just turbo that instead... ;) ) Someday I'll pick up a leisure vehicle when I come across more disposible income.
  4. Unless you haven't the slightest clue of auto mechanics or don't know a good mechanic that isn't the Lexus dealer, I'd say a big fat NO to the extended warranty. 99% of the time, it's a huge waste of cash.....peace of mind, but waste of money. Consider this: Your engine goes, (unlikely, but for arguement sake we'll say it did) & you need a rebuild/used or even new. What's it going to cost you? I'd bet it's less than the $3-4K you're going to spend on that warranty. Consider this as well: Something "covered" by your new, expensive warranty goes, but the dealer says, "oh, your warranty didn't cover that..." This happens more often than you think, not that the item wasn't covered, but it hits a grey area with the coverage & the dealership does whatever they can to avoid having it come out of their pocket. My advise, bite the bullet if something ever does go. Best advice for you is keep up on your regular maintence & be kind to your car. Toyota/Lexus vehicles tend to live a long life without any major repair, so that should give you some peace of mind. That's just my $0.02
  5. GLWS! You buying/bought a new RX yet? Mabye GX or LX? :D
  6. Nice rides! I've always been a huge fan of the IS300 & wanted one badly for the longest time, but family vehicles firts for me <_< What turbo set up was in your IS300? I wanted to replicate the 2JZ or just do a 2JZ swap when I was looking.
  7. X2 on both previous posts, plus major dealer discounts for life! B)
  8. Awesome write up. This will surely help someone down the road to avoid "stealership" prices. Now if you could just keep your mother away from the hatch, all will be good... :P Oh, & LoL @ the coat hanger to "fix" a Lexus.....that's pure gold!
  9. ^ I would think though, if you can afford the LFA then gas isn't that big of an issue... ;) No issues with our RX, loving it!
  10. Did a Bing search to see if a RX fourm site actually existed or not. I've been active on Matrixowners.com for awhile & wanted to check out the Lexus community after picking up a used RX for the wife. So far so good, I'm liking what I see here :)
  11. ^ Thanks! I've actually worked for TMMC for 9 years now, (where the RX is made) & consider myself to be fairly mechanically inclined, without making my head too big of course ;) Just wanted to join, see what everyone thinks about thier Rexus' & be informed. I'll post some pics of our RX with my Matrix when I get a chance. Cheers!
  12. Not to bash the idea of a suspension mod, but isn't the point of driving these RX's to have a soft ride? I have an 07 Matrix XR lowered on Tein S-techs & as much as I enjoy my Matrix, I love jumping into the wife's RX & enjoying the smooth, silky ride that it offers. To awnser your question though, yes there are options for swapping out the suspension. To OP: are you looking for a more ridged ride, possibly lowering? Or are you just trying to get quicker response to handling with stiffer suspension? Can you post the link to the Eibach kit you looked at?
  13. I recommend using synthetic as well. If you plan on doing regularily scheduled oil changes, the OEM filters are best for the price. I haven't had the privledge of changing the oil in my wife's RX yet, (as we just picked it up last week), but I use Castrol Syntec in my Matrix w/ OEM 2zz filters. Most dealers will give you a deal on the filters if you're buying more than 1 filter at a time.
  14. Hey Lexus members! My name is Corey & I just bought my wife a gently used, 2008 RX350 after paying off my 2007 Matrix. My wife's been attached to the RX class ever since we borrowed one from my work for our wedding in 2007. Last week, her dreams came true as we rolled home in one! :) Some specs: 2008 RX350. Canadian model, 4WD, moonroof, heated leather, overhead DVD w/ wireless head phones, stock 17" wheels, (plus all the other standard features) Bamboo exterior w/ tan leather interior. This is her new baby to haul around our 2 young kids. I look forward to searching these fourms, as I've been a long time member of Matrixowners.com B)
