  1. Hi again, I received both parts from Park Place Lexus. They are Toyota parts, but I gather one and the same for my car. I would like to try to put them in today, but being I have two left hands, I need some (detailed) directions. I looked under the hood, but could not see either. I guess I need to know exactly where both are located and are there any tricks or complications in installing them. As much information as possible would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.
  2. Well, I am on a roll. Today, I ordered the PCV valve and fuel filter on line from Park Place Lexus. Also made an appointment with my friend, in exchange for dinner, to change the power steering and brake fluids. How much Dot 3 and Dextron III do I need to pick up at the local Pep Boys to replace the brake fluid and power steering fluid? You all have been great!
  3. Thanks. Should the break fluid be changed when I get the power steering fluid changed. Any purpose or benefit?
  4. Thanks so much for the help. I have a few remaining questions: 1. I will have a friend change the power stearing fluid. I see Dextron III transmission fluid. The book calls for II. I gather they are the same? How much will it take? 2. Is there any benefit or purpose in changing the break fluid? If so, is all Dot 3 the same and how much fluid will be required? 3. PCV valve - I went to rockauto.com and they seem to have Fram. I assume it will do and I do not need to spend more for original equipment? 4. Fuel filter - Also at rockauto.com they have fram. Is that fine? One confusing point is they seem to have two. One is part number G7766 (fuel in-line gas filter) for $14.90 and a second, G8164 Universal Fuel Filter (universal in-line gas filter) for $15.28. Again, thanks.
  5. Can we purchase the PCV valve and fuel filter at a Toyota dealership? Are they difficult to put in? If the mechanic does it when I ask him to flush the power steering fluid, how long should it take him (the PCV valve and fuel filter). Thanks
  6. The car has 116,000 miles and seems to run well. The oil is changed every 3,000 miles, the transmission fluid every 15,000 and twice a year the air filter is changed. The plugs were changed recently as well as all four breaks and the coolant fluid when the radiator was replaced. Beyond these things, nothing else. The timing belt has never been replaced, but 90% of the miles are now in the city and the mechanic is close by in case it goes. Are there other maintenance items that should be done to keep the car running well such as filters or anything else? Regarding tires, the current set have approximately 35,000 miles and will need to be replaced soon. They are Bridgestone RE 930I's, P205/65R15 92H. Yes, H and that was my husband's doing to save some money. As you know, the car calls for V's, but I must say, it handles and rides fine for us. The Bridgestone's have been good, so we are thinking of staying with the same brand, unless another one is recommended. Also, is it fine to stay with the H rated tire or is that bad for the car?
  7. How do I navigate to frequently asked questions?
  8. The dashboard lights on my 1992 ES 300 are going one by one. It started with the temperature guage, went onto the tachometer and now the 0-40 mph lights are out on the speedometer. A few questions. What is causing this? If I go to the Toyota dealer, can they fix it and the approximate cost? Can a competent independent mechanic fix it? If so, what can I tell him the problem is. Any other thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
  9. I have a 1992 ES 300 with 115,000 miles. A friend is planning on changing my front breaks tomorrow. I called a few auto supply places and there seems like a million choices for breaks. Pep Boys has two, both manufactured by Rabestos, one they said is "good" for $38 the other "better" for $51. I think the $38 breaks were "premium semi metalic pads", what ever that means. I think they also had "premium organic pads" for $37. Strauss had Bosch ceramic for $55. Auto Zone had a brand I never heard of, ceramic for $36 and carbon metallic for $32. I only put in approxiamtely 10,000 miles per year, but most of thet is city driving. My current breaks tend to squeak quite a bit. I am not a car buff. I start it in the morning, change the oil every few thousand miles and watch the tire air pressure. That's about it. I would appreciate a recommendation on which breaks to purchase so I can add stopping to my list. Thanks much.
