  1. Don't know how to remove it, but you should be careful, it's probably connected to the airbag sensor!
  2. I just posted a question about changing the seals in a water pump. What's your take buddy (was it difficult and do you have any advice for me being a beginner in car DIY projects)? What prompted you to change the water pump, thermostat?
  3. google "certifit, arizona" and call them up. I got a prime black fender and hood from them but forgot how much I paid. When it comes to the quality of it, I noticed that it is a more dense steel and bends much less than the factory fender I have on the other side.
  4. Noticed there is a good amount of coolant leaking from the water inlet area on my '93 ES. I'm thinkin it is a problem with the water pump seals. Any advice on whether or not this is a simple task to DIY. My bro and I have some decent knowledge of cars but have never really dealt with anything with the water pump or its seals. Any shared tips to accessing the water pump would be nice. Noticed that the water pump is attached to timing belt which kinda worries me. Any inputs or advice would be greatly appreciated. I haven't been able to spend a lot of time with this car so if you've dealt with this, please help.
  5. oh snap son. lol, you really do have a windom. funny. you like it? well congrats, and good luck
  6. ok, so ive decided just to stay with brembo blanks now. but on autopartswarehouse.com it shows 3 1. 49.22 2. 49.95 (rear rotor?) 3. 38.95 which one should i order exactly? i would also like to get rears as well. tia
  7. where did everyone buy their rotors from? im searching for c/s preferably, because i think it looks better, iknow iknow, cracking/warping problems. but i do not drive crazy enough for hard braking. so far i havent seemed to find any great prices for our es' charley
  8. goodluck with bushings, because if they are anything similar to my 240 there a bi!@#. and to do it yourself is quite timely just because you need to get a hold of a press or a shop with a press. and for those places to do labor is quite expensive. and i dont know if you can even just buy the bushings themselves, because there isnt too much of an aftermarket tuner crowd for our cars so there will probably be just whole arms with bushings from the dealers. because 240sx' you can just buy bushing themselves from other places and save the money instead of buying a whole brand new arm which is still fine. if anyone knows of a bushings dealer for our es's please feel free to chime in. one spot that might come to me would be whiteline. Goodluck
  9. yeah no doubt it is an awesome car, because my mom has a 97. but it is really really expensive to fix. she bought it at 40k miles. since then, the radiator outlet hose pops off when ac is on and gas is consumed heavily. interior b-pillar tabs broke and will be somewhat expensive to fix. cup holder only held 1 12oz water and cupholder broke off. cat converter is ruined and needs to be replaced because it makes a whining noise. computer always sounds like it is on even when the car is shut off. trunk struts are ruined and the trunk is very heavy and has fallen on many peoples heads already. and now the power steering pump is leaking. and all this crap is expensive to fix, but actually driving it is worth a million. goodluck
  10. i believe toyota is still running a monthly special ending this month. 250 for the timing belt replacement. and since ur at it, might as well buy the other belts and have them replace that as well. so tomorrow im looking at about low 300's for the belts to be replaced. not bad. Charley
  11. ok, where would i be able to purchase a set for my 97? i saw on ebay and thats all that are sold are for the 92-96, would these be a direct bolt on, or require some modification, or just flat out wont work?
  12. hey there, i am currently in the market for a set of coilovers where there is adjustablity in height and dampening with front camber plates. so far the only sets are from jicmagic. top quality stuff, but are there any other companies out there? as of now im thinking the jic sf-1's, anyone with these would like to offer some input would be greatly appreciated. i do plan on dumping my car but not with the wheels tucked, but flush with the fender. TIA Charley
  13. k since i cant get the fsm to work still i am needing to know how to remove the passenger axle from the rear mount bracket? do i simply unbolt the 5/6 bolts from differential? or what. i have removed the bolt under the rear mount bracket, but dont know where to go from here. from there i can try to press out the mount myself(doubtful) or take it to get pressed out. btw, is there a certain way that the mount goes in?
  14. it is a 97, but where do i dl fsm at? bcus the sticky up top i cant unzip it bcus it says unknown compression method?
  15. k ive been up all night already and the darn thing is driving me freaking crazy like a maniac............... its so complicated to get to. anyone done this before can offer some advice as how to remove it? Thank You
  16. yeah i just took off the garage door opener a few months ago and replaced it with the sunglass holder. but for ur info it is quite small. i cant even hold my sunglasses in em. so i used it for my night time driving glasses. lol. that sucks.
  17. what about that engine shock absorber? in front of driver side fan? car has 141k on it. and what will part# be from autozone if need to be replaced? Thank You
  18. ok, i am new to lexus. i am wanting to replace the motor mount tranny mount and dogbone for my 97 es. can i get the parts from the same year camry's-1997 v6? Thank You Charley
  19. what do you mean by pressurized wash and powerflush? btw, does anyone know where i can get another tension bar brace that connects from i believe next to the pass strut tower to the engine? the bushing is just demolished.
  20. ok, thank you very much bob95603. that was a fairly detailed explanation.
  21. ok, i am about to take over a family members 1997 es300 and am wanting to do a major tune up myself. i plan on trying to do everything that i think can be accomplished by myself. and the rest of the hard stuff to the mechanic. as of right now i am wanting to flush the tranny, but have yet to work on an auto tranny. have read some posts, but it seems as if it is a little more difficult than a manual trans. car. will someone please help me with where to start.
  22. first all, let me introduce myself. my name is charley and i own a 97 es300 beige on pearl. and it is quite a beaut. the other day i went in and replaced the lcd screen but i also pulled out the circuit board on the radio because some led's were burnt. now the question is what is the wattage/mca/voltage of those led's? and where can i find something of the exact size bulb? because i would still like to use the green cap for it, but most that ive seen are fairly bigger. another question is, are the rear shocks camber adjustable? because i would like to get some coilovers in the near future and want to go deep dish. with quite a bit of negative camber so that i can get wider wheels. if they are, what controls the cambering? how much negative camber can be done? because it is nothing like my 240sx and those i have a 3in lip in the front and 4.5in in the rear. Thank you Charley
  23. hi there everybody, im new to the boards. i am actually thinking about this and what do i come to see, someone installing hid's. i was thinking about the 99' & 00' es300's that have the hid, why cant we just swap over the headlights(because they already have the projector and it is oem) and ballast from those year lex's? also, what style bulb does the 97 have?
