I have a 91 LS-400 with 145,000 and had same problem. by reading this website many people had this problem and sugested motor mounts were bad. I took it to the dealer and sure enough the motor mounts were bad. I had the mechanic save the old ones for me to look at and compare to the new ones. It did solve the problem.

I have used two sets of Michelin Energy MXV4 plus from Sams at about $600 for 4. They ride and handle great and getting 45 to 50,000 miles on my 1991 LS-400. I tried one set of Toyo and did not like them and they only lasted about 40,000. They handle well in rain not sure about snow have none in my area.

I have a 1991 LS-400 and the timing belt broke at 98,896. Fortunately I was just heading out of town so only had to walk half mile to a phone and get towed in. No damage was done. My suggestion is change it at 100,000.

I have a 1991 LS-400 with 125,000 miles changed oil every 4000 miles. Recently a vibration has started when the car is in drive or reverse but setting still. You can feel the vibration in gear shift and it makes a rattle in the drivers side door. Lexus mechanics not sure but suggesting may be motor mounts. If that is not it will disconnect tourque converter to check. Anyone else experienced this vibration and solved it?
