  1. I posted in january that I had a trouble code 1349 along with trouble codes p0440 and p0430 and misfires in all cylinders. I have had the trouble codes p0440 and p0430 for awhile but the car ran fine and a few mechanics were not able to pinpoint the problem. When the trouble code 1349 popped up and the misfires, my mechanics put seafoam in the gas thinkin I might of got bad gas b4 calling it quits cuz they were not very familiar with the code 1349 OCV or VVT engines. I solved the trouble codes 1349 and misfires with a new OCV. But since then the injectors are louder and possibly have more engine noise. I have always been able to notice small changes in engine noises or changes in how all my cars drive. Usually has been an early sign something was going out and have gotten a jump on it. I have had this car since 2004 and my injectors have never been this loud and they have gotten louder since the OCV replacement. I have checked most of the hoses under the hood and have replaced 2 cuz of hardness or bein pinched. I have also replaced the gas cap and have checked the notorious airbox hose and it is fine. I now have code p0420 to add to the p0440 and p0430. Any ideas on what i might be able to check b4 trying another mechanic or possibly replacing the twin cat manifold which is a huge junk of change. Also since the OCV replacement I now have a small oil leak I have been unable to pinpoint that is on the drivers side of the engine, It is not the OCV or oil filter.Thx for any help 2001 Lexus IS300 183,000 miles
  2. Went to the dealer and got a new OCV and installed it(The filter was clean and fine & they didnt have it in stock even though I was going to replace if they did have it). When I started the car it jumped up to 2100rpms for about 30 seconds then jumped backed down to normal. I let the car warm up and then went and test drove it for about 5/10 minutes and got over the 40mph for a bit in stop and go traffic and it was fine during the 15 minutes it was running. Seems to have fixed the problem. I do hear the injectors more and another sound (not sure what) that almost sounds like a vacuum leak but I am not sure where or what it is. It sounds louder by the timing belt casing. I did not remove any hoses. The injectors i can possibly attribute to the cleaner they put in the gas. Ill clear the codes in the morning and see if anything pops up again. I did have codes p0420 & p0440 before all this. If I cleared the codes they would not pop up again for 2 days to a week, but the car ran fine. Mechanics couldnt find the problem. They said I would have to wait till it became a bigger problem. One shop suggested the 2 cats on the manifold could be going out but that is $500-$800 just for the part. Im not throwing that kind of money around without being for sure its the problem. Any suggestions on any of this would be helpful. Thanks.
  3. Does anyone know how many OCVs a 2001 IS300 has. I talked to the parts rep at the dealer yesterday and he said there was one. Today I called and a different person said there were two. I was calling today to see if my car has a OCV filter which he said it didnt. I have located one on the drivers side by the timing cover in the front of the car. I have trouble codes 1349 and misfirings in all cylinders. It started tuesday after i got gas. It idles real rough after it warms up, but is fine before it warms up. Additive was added to the fuel yesterday to be sure their was no water in the gas tank, but it didnt help. My two repair guys who have 20yrs experience and have done great work for me before were stumped and were not familiar witht that code and didnt want to mess with it cuz they were not familiar with OCV and not very familiar with VVT cars. Oh, I have 182,000 miles on it and have replaced the readiator, water pump, thermostat, and timing belt in the past 2 months. From what i can see the timing belt has not jumped any teeth and is all lined up.
