  1. Hello! I live just south of Tyler, TX and am in desperate need of someone who is familiar with the sc400 to do some work, or help me do work on my "project"!! I'm not asking for a free hand, as I will gladly pay for the work. If anyone knows of someone, or a shop who's good with these cars and knows how to do fixes and tunes without just swapping parts, that's what I'm needing. Most shops around here want to simply change parts that show as "bad" although they are not proving to be the cause of my issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! I will gladly provide any contact information to discuss my problems as well. I have just about any tool needed at my house, so I just need someone who knows these cars better than I do. Thanks everyone for the hand!!
  2. In the previous post as I listed I have 13 and 41 which is throttle position... However I did some diggin, my trac light off is illuminated.. I did the trac test and brought up code 51 for that, which doesn't tell me much....
  3. Ok I'm hating spell check... Was supposed to say Rollin a grenade under her haha
  4. Hello! I was wondering what ended up being your issue? My 92sc400 is doing almost the EXACT same thing!! Just short of rolling a grande under her, I'm out of ideas...
  5. I could use some advice from the sc400 gurus tho! I'm not sure if these are the cause of my "big issue". The car has less get up and go than my little girls bicycle with training wheels, and the engine will cut throttle.. If you are in park/neutral, and give it gas, at times it will rev to 2500-3k then act as though you've taken your foot off the pedal.. It will do this 3 or 4 times ten it'll rev all the way up if you allow it to... Take your foot off the pedal, press it again, it may or may not repeat... I feel this is also the cause of my extreme lack of power..
  6. Ok, I've reduced my issues to code 13 still which I'm beginning to think is the cam sensor and I've been told this is where the PCM gets the rpm signal from... It's fairly oil soaked from an oil leak the car had before I fixed it... The sub o2 codes will stay on at least for now, I gutted my cats for the meantime.. And a tps signal code. Which in short, codes 13, and 41.
  7. I am needing the drivers side seat belt assembly.. also just cause I'm nosey, how much for your fuel filler door, passenger side mirror, and passenger side window motor? I'm sure there's more I'd like, but I'm too tired to think right now!!!
  8. I have a similar issue with mine.. My speedo is inop; I haven't started trouble shooting that yet as having everything else is in order is a bigger deal to me. If you have a smart phone, they make speedometer apps that work via gps and are very accurate, that's what I use in the meantime! Works like a charm to prevent speeding tickets!! haha
  9. As far as my car goes, I've checked the filter to make sure it wasn't obstructed, even replacing it anyway since it's off. Fuel pressure is good. In addition, replacing the O2 sensors because of a trouble code, MAF sensor, and checked the plug wires, as well as coils to make sure one of them isn't "shorting out" once it gets hot. I should have the MAF within the next few days, I'm feeling sure that's my problem at hand. But I'm still checking other feeds to see what everyone else has found with similar issues just in case.
  10. Engine speed sensor information is very helpful. When I bought the car it had a "new" timing belt on it, but was installed incorrectly, that may well be the source of that code issue. I've ordered a MAF sensor, the test procedure in the manual kinda sucks! haha but found a great deal on one with a guarantee, O2 sensors, no biggie as well. The initial code for the RPM signal had me more "stressed" that anything overall.. I ended up pulling the timing belt finding the problem initally there and had to replace it as they had damaged it during the install
  11. I am the "almost proud" owner of a 92 Lexus SC400 with 212k. I bought it knowing it needed work. Timing belt was installed incorrectly, massive exhaust leak at the catalytic converter flanges, etc. Well, now that it's FINALLY going back together.. I have a trouble code that I'm having some issue with. Code 13 - rpm signal. My digital repair manual, although for the time was good.. based on todays info, kinda sucks!! Any ideas on where I can start the check to find the issue.. In addition, I'm having code 27, 29, 31, and 41.. I'm pretty sure I've got the others "figured out" however. But this one is starting to get me frustrated. Also, the speedo isn't working.. Guess I'll be using the speedo app on my iphone in the meantime!! Thanks for any input and it's a great site!!! Been more useful than any of my manuals have been at this point!! Keep up the great job!!
  12. Hello, was wondering what ended up being your issue? I have a very similar problem with my sc400.. I'm almost ready to turn it into a giant target range! haha
  13. Let me know what you find out to be your issue! Mine does very similar, except mine will rev to 3k, then it's like you take your foot off the throttle, down to 1k.. back up to 2500-3k and back down.. 3rd time is a charm; it'll rev all the way to redline with no sputter hesitation. I've tested the MAF and verified fuel pump operation. Next I'll be testing fuel pressure and pressure regulator. With most vehicles this behavior is a MAF or fuel supply/delivery problem! I'm about to the point of taking it to a shop also. I'm running out of ideas and patience myself! haha
  14. Ok, I'm hoping for some insight from some more experienced SC folks! I bought a 1992 SC400 with 212,000 miles for a "steal". As it turns out, the timing belt was installed incorrectly. I fixed the issue, put the motor back together. The car idles great, has a very small off idle hesitation when you press the pedal, and is otherwise smooth throughout the rpm range. HOWEVER, once it warms up a bit. If you press the pedal, it will rev to approx 3K rpms. then act as if you let off the throttle, drops to approx 1k rpms, then back up to 2,500-3k rpms, and back down to 1k. 3rd time around however, it will rev to near redline with no issues... I plan on checking fuel pressure and the mass air flow tomm. Has anyone else come across this? I know this car has several additional sensors/components. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated! Thanks again for taking all the time to read!!
  15. Ok, I bought a 92 sc400 and have been "going through it" I have worked out a lot of the bugs and kinks, have a digital repair manual on the way, but in the meantime. I am trying to figure out the vacuum diagram. I have 2 vacuum lines coming out of the front of the "intake" just under the Lexus logo. The larger of the 2 has a bolt crammed in a short section of hose. Any information as to where this is supposed to go, I sure could use the help! Thanks in advance. New to the forum and look forward to learning even more about these cars!!!!
