  1. When last I entered a post a few weeks ago I was complaining that I had excessive engine noise from my 2008 LS 460 L with 45K on it. I purchased the car recently and have been trying to get used to it. I also have a 79 LS 400 with 250K, and a 2003 SC 430 with 25K on it. So I have two other V 8's to compare my 460 with. I took the car in to the dealer on Monday. They gave me a loaner car and kept my car overnight so they could start it cold the next day. My complaint was engine noise like a valve lifter stuck or not getting oil. They told me that the valve springs had been replaced in March of this year. They fixed the problem with the noise. It was the high pressure fuel pump on the right side. They replaced the fuel pump and all is good. They also put in a new door seal on both front doors due to wind noise coming from the passengers side. I think I got it up to speed now and tend to enjoy the finest car made for the price. It may not be a Bently, but it's my LS 460 L Lexus, and I am sold on Lexus Also I have to say my dealer is the best dealer I have ever delt with in my life.
  2. I will be out of town for the next two weeks, when I return, I will take the car in to the dealer. I will let you know what they said. Thanks for the quick reply. Larry
  3. I did a quick search here and it appears there was an issue with the valve springs on the 2007-2008 LS460. It is not clear from what little I could find, but there might have been a recall on it. This is not carved in stone fact and you might want to do your own search and absolutely check with your dealer. Let us know what you find out.
  4. I purchased a used 2008 LS 460L with 45K miles on it a few weeks ago, and noticed after I purchased it a valve noise on start up. The noise is subtle and will go away when the car is warm. I'm thinking a valve lifter not getting the oil at first. I had it in to the dealer for an oil change and they said nothing about it. I wanted them to say something first. I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this. I also have a 97 LS 400 250 K miles and a 03 SC430 25K miles. None of the others have this noise. I kind of surprises me, I would have never expected it from a Lexus. The car is a dream to drive and I enjoy it very much. I have a good dealer, and have trust in him. I have an extended warranty on the car till 100K, so I have time to see if it gets any worse. What do you think?

  6. I just purchased another Lexus. I now have three of them. Years ago I decided that buying a new car was not in my best interest financially. I think we all know why. My first Lexus a 97 LS 400 which I purchased in 1999, and I still have. It has 250K on it and runs great. My second one purchased in 2005 is an 03 SC 430 with 20K on it, and I just recently purchased a 2008 LS 460L with 45K on it. Needless to say Lexus has what I want. I have had all the other makes and take my word for it, and save yourself time and money, shop for a Lexus. I tend to keep cars for a long time. Your Lexus dealer is your friend. Keep in touch with him and he will help you maximize your car's use for along time. If you have a problem with your car go to the dealer, and he will look at it and diagnose the problem. If you have them fix it, so be it, but they will diagnose it for free in most cases. No I don't work for Lexus or sell their products. Thats all for now folks.
  7. Whit, that picture scared me. I seem to see a meaning behind it.
  8. I have had my 2003 SC430 for years and have had the black smudge below the door. My car is red and I keep it in tip top shape. Always garaged, never seen one drop of rain or one flake of snow. I gave up trying to find out or figure out what causes it. I would like to know myself. Thanks for the post. I just never thought anyone else had the problem, and it always came off.
