how hard is it to get at the battery for an LS400? i know on some foreign brands its behind the tire.

Well it could be a few things. I would give your undercarriage a good looking at.It could be the lower ball joint. Check your tires for uneven wear, and inspect your ball joints for torn boots. There is even the possibility you just need at little WD40 or try to using silicone spray where the metal meets the rubber. Lexus maintenance is less expense if you take a proactive approach to these types of problems.

Check you battery cables to see if they are corroded, loose or smashed. They may need to be replaced. Poor connections will cause the alternator to go out more frequently. I am almost positive it has to do with your Lexus's battery.

It's most likely an incorrect Freon charge. The amount of Freon in the system is extremely critical, especially in the hot months of July and August. Strange. This is a new issue to my knowledge. I've been researching online, and haven't found many solutions. But the GS300 is quality Lexus. I agree with SW03ES to stay on Lexus, because it sounds like nothing you could have prevented. Talk to your Lexus dealership. At the very least they can point you in the direction of new or used Lexus parts.

One of the first signs of low freon is cold on one side and hot on the other. Any basic mechanic should know to check that. I'd turn that Lexus sedan around and demand your money back from the tire shop, and head straight to your Lexus dealer.
