4" in the doors and 8" for the sub woofer.

I recently bought a 2001 ES300. As I was cleaning it out, I noticed 1/2" of water in the trunk, at the bottom of the well where the spare tire is stored. We have had a lot of rain here in the Northeast during the last week and the car was parked outside for a few nights.

I cleaned out the area and sprayed it down with bleach. I noticed there are two rubber plugs, about 2" in diameter in the trunk, but they appear to be in ok condition, so I don't think the water came in through there.

Has anyone else had this problem ? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to locate the leak ?

There is an On/Off switch for the remote on the left side of your lower dashboard, near the trunk and engine compartment releases.

Maybe when the car was detailed they hit the switch.

I had a similar wind sound/whistle in my 1993 LS400 that drove me crazy. I thought it was coming from the windshield or sunroof but could not pinpoint the source.

Finally, I traced the noise to the telephone antenna mounted on the rear window. It stuck up enough to create a whistle that got louder, the faster I went.

Do you have an antenna ?

I am looking for a subwoofer amp for my 1993 LS400 (pioneer system).

Does anyone have a good working unit to sell ?

The Pioner Premium Sound system in my 1993 LS400 has low volume and no bass.

I would like to bring it to a repair shop where it can be examined to determine if the problem is in the head unit, amps or speakers.

Can someone recommend a shop in the Boston/Southern New Hampshire area that has experience with the Lexus/Pioneer systems ?

Did you check the breaklight bulb in the rear deck stop light ?

The cassette and radio have the same poor quality. I will try cleaning the tape heads to see if that improves things. The CD sounds better than the radio and tape, but not great. I have tried adjusting all knobs, fader, treble, bass, balance & mid and have verified that all speakers are producing sound. I need to set my volume control between 10 o'clock and 12 o'clock to get a reasonable sound from the stereo.

Is there some way to system can be electronically tested to see if the output is correct ?

My stereo is the Pioneer Premium Sound System. I am the third owner so I do not know if the radio has been replaced. It appears to me to be the original, since the faceplace color seems to match the rest of the console area. It is not only a lack of bas, but the treble and midrange also sound very 'flat' and muffled.

Any other thoughts ?

Is it Pioneer or Nakamichi?  Your description of the sound is not normal.  I have a 1992 LS400 with stock Pioneer deck, and the sound quality is exceptional.  Are you sure this is the original radio deck for your car?  If someone installs a 90-92 deck into a 93-94 LS400 (or vice versa), the radio will still work but with no bass.  I guess this is just because of the slight difference between 90-92 and 93-94.  Many sellers on ebay mention that 93-94 radio deck will not work on 90-92 deck (or vice versa) is not true.  The radio will work but there won't be any bass.  It sounds like you have this problem. 

Also, check if your subwoofer is making any sound.  You could have a bad amplifier in the trunk.  If all else fails, chances are you need a new radio.

I have the original stereo system in my 1993 LS400. I consider the sound quality to be very poor and would like to know if it can be repaired or needs to be replaced.

All speakers are operable, but there is no depth to the sound coming out of them. The bass is set all the way up, but you can hardly hear it. The overall sound seems very 'flat' to me.

I get a better sound when I play a cd versus the FM stereo, so I am wondering if it is a matter of having 12 year old stereo technology versus todays hi-quality sound systems.

Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

i replaced brakes in the 93 ls 400 becuse the brake warning light came on. now that i have done that, the light is still on. how do you get this light to go out?????????

Are you sure it is not the Brake Light bulb, (stop lights), that is out and not the Brake pad warning light ? I had the brake light (bulb) indicator come on on my 1993 LS400 and it was only the stop light bulb that was bad.

The clear paint film is available on the Lexus.com website. It is cut to match the style of your Lexus model. Do a search on their website for 'film' and you will see the picture.

90-92 LS doesn't have an air filter.  Only 93 and later models do.

Can you tell me where the filter is on the 1993 LS400 ? I have been told to look in the glove compartment, but I do not see it there. The manual says to bring it to the dealer for replacement, I would rather do it myself.

I need to have my windshield replaced due to severe pitting. The people at the windsheild shop said the tint was called 'bronze', but did not seem absolutely sure. I want to replace the windshield with the same color as the other windows.

Does anyone know what shade the original tinting is on a 1993 LS 400 ?
