  1. I posted this in the SC300 forum also. I have a 93 SC300 with 18" lexus rims and michelin tires with about 75+% wear left. The car came with these rims but also the original wheels so I am looking for the price of a set of Michelins for the stock wheels....about $600. They are in the Santa Clarita area of SoCal. Let me know. see pic Click on it to make it bigger
  2. Is this just a nickname for these cars or is a "Soarer" a modified SC in some way? I have only had my car a few months and love it. Just trying to educate myself a bit.
  3. So anyone in the LA area want these wheels? tires go with them of course and they are Michelin with about 70-75% wear left. Rated for 180 MPH. I got the stock wheels and would want the price for a set of tires for the stock wheels. $600. I am not going to ship these anywhere but will meet you within 50 miles of Santa Clarita.
  4. This happened to me also and it turned out to be a marginally loose Negative battery cable. when I hit a bump in the road it broke the connection long enough to shut the car off. Scary at 65 MPH in morning rush traffic. The car came back on when the hood was closed and the vibration from the hood closing re-established connection. Has been a beautiful ride since terminals were cleaned and tightened and other ends of the cables were checked for tightness. Probably not your issue since you still had lights, ( I had nothing at all ), but worth checking anyway
  5. Not yet but I think I am going to. Orig wheels for this car are available free if I want them. I'll probably get them in the next couple of weeks....then decide
  6. So I touched the "tilt" control of the sunroof and it closed another 1/16 of an inch. I took the keys out and no chimes. ( for the first time in a week and a half!! ) The sliding cover was closed so a sunroof issue did not even occur to me. Thanks for your help. I knew I came to the right place!!! I am still learning about this great automobile having only had this car about a month.
  7. As far as I know, sunroof is closed but now I think about it, it started after my wife drove the car. Maybe she did not close it all the way. Strange how there is not an accompanying light on the dash with explanation in the book. My Cadillac closed its sunroof automatically after key was removed. I'll let you know.
  8. Car is off, key is out, lights are off, car in park, and I get warning chimes when I open the door to get out. Owners manuel says nothing about this. What is it?
  9. I have low profile tires on 18" Lexus rims. The ride seems hard to me on my SC300. I just bought this car and have the opportunity to get the original Factory wheels with standard tires. How will the ride differ? and how do low profiles affect gas mileage? I have never had low profiles before and only have these as that is the way the car came. See photo
  10. Just picked up a 93 SC3 with 42K miles. My first Lexus. We now have 1 lexus and 2 toyotas. My dad has a Lexus also. We all love our cars!!
  11. I am an SC300 owner. I have had this car 3 weeks. 1993 with 42,000 miles. I am not sure if the theft system is working right. There is a security light on the dash but the button on the key does not activate it but it does lock and unlock the doors. Yesterday as I shut off the car and pulled the key, I heard a series of chimes that after a few seconds, they shut off. then today I stopped at the mailbox, pulled the key and heard the chimes again. When I got back in the car it started but as I pulled into the driveway the whole car shut off dead. I could not even close the sunroof. Battery power was up at normal and went through the normal reset procedures with locking and unlocking with the key and even pulling pos cable from the battery, all to no avail. After about 10 min leaving it alone, I went out and started the car like normal. Logic indicates that the anti theft system is the culprit. I have no manual yet,( one has been ordered)so I am mystified as to how all this works or doesnt. I plan on an aftermarket alarm system as I only have 1 master key. That will allow me to make 2 duplicates and leave the master key at home. Is this the correct way this should function or is there a bypass or kill switch I can disable? The new alarm will go in next couple of weeks but I need a solution. Rest of the car is beautiful and I know I made a good choice for my first Lexus.
