  1. I don't know but I spent five hours haggling at the dealership last weekend for my daughter. Got her a 2003 Sequouia, I am impressed with the construction and bells and whistles, the Tranny still has a drain plug too. Yeh..... Anyway very nice vehicle, Hers has sunroof, running boards, electric seats, garage door opener, and fifty million electric accesory jacks, plus rear air conditioning (automatic) and just too many other options. Had 46k on it and got 56k warranty and 7 years. All for 25k out the door.
  2. I will try that when she comes home thank you, By the way she gave more info, apparently the dislplay is their, but none of the heat or cooling icons show up to change. The Am and FM and cd do work however. I wish she would come home so I could see exactly what is happening
  3. Hey, Help, my wife just called and said the Auto, and temp adjustments dont work on the car. The display makes no changes. Worked fine last night, but dead this morning, rest of car works. Any Hot suggestions? We have never had any problems on the center console and it is the first time.
  4. That is true, the wait is a killer, but I wish I had this wisdom when I was a younger man, I certainly would have more money in my pocket, instead of theirs.
  5. Anytime their is a demand for a particuler car and the supply is low the price sucks. Plain and simple it is called economics 101 the old law of supply and demand. I have fallen in that trap, but never again. I remember buying the VW Diesel 1978 for 2k over sticker price. What a beating. Car however got 50 mpg consistantly. Their are just too many choices that are out their where you can negotiate a better deal. From a long time of buying my recommendation is buy a two or three year old car and rake in the dough. My daughter just bought a Sequoia 2003 loaded and with 20 inch rims with new tires for 25k out the door tax, license etc. By the way it rides better and has more bells and whistles than my wifes Lexus RX300 AWD. I figured she saved 15k by buying the three year old car, and it looks and drives brand new. I will admit it took us 4 hours of haggling to get that price. But she has a 54k 7year warranty which is better than my new Ford F150 truck, so she is way ahead. hope you all consider this when the new car virus hits you.
  6. I have put it in my front and rear differentials on my RX300 AWD. So far great, but quite frankly you cannot tell any difference. I have noticed however that many car manufacturers are recommending it in their new vehicles. Tells you something. The move is toward synthetics. Go with the flow. They should lube better in cold and heat.
  7. It is in the glove box behind a little black panel that is removeable without any tools, if you use a flashlight you can see the cover for the filter. It snaps out.
  8. Disturbing sites, however I hate when these conspiracy things, but yes the pentagon crash is suspicious.
  9. Congratulations Army, And just think, your insurance will go down too. Seems the insurance companies feel being married makes you more reliable. Just kidding, you both enjoy, and remember to always respect each other, bliss will follow. ...... sincerely tom
  10. Sounds like the caliper slide pins are hanging up and the pads are not making firm connection with the disc, The calipers pads should be taken out and the two pins cleaned, inspected for wear, and lubed and put back together. Another cause could be the spring plates that locate the pads in the caliper are worn or broken. A good brake mechanic should spot this stuff easily. So much for LExus.
  11. Hey thats great, guess what My daughter too joined the toyota family, she and I purchased a Toyota Sequoia (2003) with 46K miles on it. Nice vehicle, sunroof, electric seats, JBL sound system, Silver with grey cloth interior. Rides better than my wifes Lexus RX300 and has more bells and whistles. My wife is jealous off course. Did this today with a grueling bargaining of 5 hours, boy I hate sales people, or should I say the Finance manager or sales manager. Anyway got it out the door for 26k. A lot of money for a 22 year old. but she is making the payments. Oh and it came with the certified 7 year 100k warranty, hope we don't need it.
  12. I guess that is part of their customer satisfaction strategy. Same reason they won't back their lousy transmission in the RX300 AWD. Have a great day./
  13. I agree wash it carefully and let it dry, I sprayed simple green on it to loosen the dirt. Worked great, last a long time. I have washed mine three times and it still works great.
  14. Not to rehash the subject, but the failures just keep rolling in, Boy I bet the dealerships love the profit off the tranny replacements. So far my third tranny is rolling, I have added an external fluid filter, and change the fluid every 15k or less. Hope to roll a couple more years or until my wife says get rid of it and buy something with rear wheel drive and a normal transmission. good luck to all.
  15. As much as I hate buying stuff from Lexus i bought the touch up paint from them and it works well. Suggest the same.
  16. A good trailer place will sell the pigtail for the Prodigy controller for $10.00 then just plug that into the factory harness described by kthrash above. Most trucks 2004 and above are pre wired for a controller under the dash, however Lexus might not be. My ford F150 (2005) gave me a pigtail to plug into the main harness under the dash near the steering wheel. God forbid, if ford and chevy can why can't Lexus, I know it may cost a few more dollars out of their profit margin. whoopie
  17. Good grief if the hitch is still there just have U Haul put in the necessary wiring, will probably cost next to nothing compared to Lexus.
  18. Wait, I am in shock, Monarch you are using Mobil Synthetic? That is unlike you, I thought you used all toyota products.
  19. Sometimes I agree with Monarch, but Along with RX NC I did change the fluid regularily and the tranny still failed, by the way the fluid was great looking before my trip to Utah, and was changed just 3k miles before the trip, and the tranny failed. Give it up Monarch.
  20. I agree, the RX is a very nice car to drive, and if you maintain it it can be a nice ride. The tranny is the only major problem that lurks on my mind everyday. I am on number three transmission, and guess I had the bad luck, even after changing the fluid every 30k. Now I change it every 15k or sooner. Anyway good luck, and get the price down as low as possible.
  21. Nice guns guys. Love your case. thank you for sharing. I too have a little 380 made in Argentina. I did go shooting with it, let my son teach me the ropes. He is a great shot and put me to shame. He used to fire a 50 cal in the air force. Now he is a cop in Stockton (gang city central)
  22. You guys are so lucky, at least lexus is stepping up to that problem, wish they would fix the RX300 AWD tranny problems. Too old, too late I guess.
  23. I have added synthetic to both transfer and rear differential on my RX300. works great. I used 75-90 weight with GL5 stats. Bought it at Walmart.
  24. I too have had a valve body apart (RX300) and it looks like one of the valve bodies pistons and the long thin part is where a spring goes over. sorry partner. Or maybe he threw that in to scare you, or Lexus did a great job of quality control.
