  1. I understand, but why is it that some of the trannys in many American cars and trucks and Nissans seems to go forever without any intervention of changes at 15k miles? I am telling you Lexus has a engineering flaw in their designs, for whatever reason. You would think after building such nice cars that the transmission would have the same reliability as the engine. What gives?
  2. The anti squeel shims work better when they are glued with the anti squeel juice. I have been using this stuff for years and very seldom ever experience squeel. The other point is to make sure the pad surfaces are lubricated properly where they rest in the caliper mounts.
  3. Welcome aboard Xerox, hope the advice helps you. I do not know your skill level, or if you do take it somewhere go to an independent that you can trust, or use Toyota instead of LEXUS> Joe Wilson would tell you the Same.
  4. Good for you, you got the service that the price demands. Hope all Lexus owners take head and learn how the Lexus Donuts and bottled water don't cost thousands and hundreds of dollars. You know those items can be purchased at Costco, Sams club or Walmart before you go to service your vehicle. And Rental cars are less than 35 dollars a day. Give me a break Lexus of AMerica, your scam is out in the open. Charging double what Toyota is charging is rediculous.
  5. I would support any campaign to fight Lexus on the transmission issues. They need to hear it collectively from all of the owners of the failied trannys. I know I submitted complete dissatisfaction with consummers reports in their annual survey, but maybe there are not that many owners that do Consumers Reports.
  6. You could try Toyotas only on Fulton ave if they are still there. Absolutely keep your car away from Lexus of Roseville. They will destroy your car. Lexus of Sacramento is Ok. Another place I have used is the Maita Toyota on Auburn Blvd off Fulton Ave and next to Business 80. They have done very well on my Lexus.
  7. Have you had the brake system bled out and removed all of the old fluid with new? I would do that first, but that is just my opinion. I would get a second opinion from an independent garage that works toyotas.
  8. I have thought about this for a year and a half, It is too bad that we owners with the failed trannys could'nt get together and get a true feel for the number of failures. I was going to write a questionare up and every time I saw a RX300 in a parking lot I was going to leave one on their windshield to contact me and give me any feedback on transmission problems or failures with their car and join me in assaulting Lexus of America to try and get some response back other than sorry, its past warranty. They know they have a problem and will not address it, unlike Honda/Accura which recalled their failures on the Odessey and MDX showing that they are truely a company that believes in customer satisfaction. I am sorry your dealership measures up to the Roseville Lexus Standards which is right below Bull Crap. If anybody wants to Email me at tskeen@surewest.net with their car and particulars concerning the transmission I will compile a list and see just how bad it is and submitt it again to Lexus of America. What a cheap !Removed! bunch of American/Toyota /Lexus liars. It makes me sick everytime some one new comes on the site with the same results that many of us have experienced. Tranny failures at less than 100k miles is rediculuous with the engineering that is available today. But not standing behind your product is criminal inlight of selling John Q. Public that they are the premium company, and elite product compared to the rest out there. I have lots of time to fight this, but one voice is not enough. Not servicing at Lexus is no excuse for early failure, and besides it is against the law to demand that. Good morning and best of luck to all of you.
  9. I did not change the rear rotors when I put ceramics on and they look great. You can go to Lexus of Plano Texas and get prices on the OEM part numbers, but quite frankly the rear pads are not that expensive. the rear pads are $50.73 with free shipping if you want the OEM. I doubt if the have a Toyota part number, that crosses
  10. It is a rip unless they include the timing belt change in that price, run and find an independent garage or Toyota dealership for your service, you will have lots of money left to have some nice dinners out for a month or two. If it is a lousy oil change and check this or that you are being ripped, the check this or that is usually just a visual check or a way to go after some more expensive repairs.
  11. You guys are too funny, But how true, Even when the sales hipes tell you this is the invoice price and we are taking a beating they are lying. We just bought a 2003 Toyota Sequoia for my daughter. got it for 25k out the door with 46k miles on it with all the bells and whistles, sunroof, electric seats, auto air system front and back, conveince package etc. nice vehicle, they showed me the invoice (ha ha) for 24k, what a bunch of bull crap. My daughter was pulling out one cold morning and I looked at her through the front windshield and saw this weird number on the upper right corner throught the frost. There is was, the real invoice price from a grease pencil marking that only the frost showed, Yup 16.8k dollars probably from a broker or wholesale. Yea they made at least 5 to 7 grand on the damn thing, and people want me to think they have integrety. What a bunch of bull. So there be it. Yes the car is a good deal for 25k but the dealer lost nothing, not even with the luousy 20 inch rims and new tires. Trust no car dealership, they dont send their sales people on incentive trips and live the big life for nothing. so if you can deal a few thousand off you deserve it and they are never going to cheat themselves. Enjoy......
  12. there are some transmission cooler lines going across from front left to right front side of the car down in that area, maybe one of the lines has a loose or cracked line. look near and under the car radiator area for these lines. They go to the auxuallary cooler if it is a AWD RX300. If they are leaking the fluid could be being blown backward to the exhaust.
  13. Ah the old soak you dry car. sorry lol you bought a Lexus, not supposed to taken out on rainy days.
  14. That is rediculous, I would file a complaint with the state Automotive Bureau and give all documentation. To be forced mentally to trade in your vehicle is absolutely insane. that dealership should be turned in for fraud. God bless you man
  15. Absolutely dont give him the business, Why reward them after treating you that way, unless you have the battered wife syndrom. Shop on the internet at another dealer and you will find you will be treated better. I bought at Lexus of Sacramento and was treated with respect and got a great price. 7500 off MSRP on my 1999 Lexus RX300. Hopefully they still have that kind of sales routine.
  16. I had the same experience as you on the rear brakes wearing first. 70k was exactly when mine were worn also. The second set of pads performed better.... I do not know why. But I have switched to all ceramics Akebono pro pads all the way around. The rear disk are solid and not vented, but most of the time the front brakes take the beating. However I have never had AWD and I don't know if that affected this situation. I ordered the pads from the Tire Rack online. Good service and prices.
  17. Hey your lucky to unload it before the transmisson fails and double whammies you. You must have an angel above, getting the engine before the warranty period was up. After that you would have been sucking big dollars and padding the pockets of Lexus of America. Good luck with your Yukon, not my choice, but best of luck to you and congradulations on dumping the RX300 AWD
  18. Rather than repeat my thousands of words on this subject go to the RX300 Forum and type transmission. You will find a lot from RX NC and Lenore (Me) Lexus of America could give a damn about your satisfaction or dissatisfaction on this problem. I Wrote 5 pages of explanation why they should recall and support their product and all they would say is too bad, its past warranty, and basically suck it up. I personally am disgusted with Lexus, and will never buy again, I have played phone tag and been thoroughly messed up by the dealership ( Roseville Lexus) the worst dealership on the face of earth. I am on my third tranny and the damage done by the dealership installing them was beyond belief. Good Luck
  19. I like your style RX, You have a good answer for all the folks out there, sorry you are on the east coast and i am on the west coast, I think we could be good friends. Lenore (tom)
  20. Do a leak down test, have it done by a mechanic, that will tell you if it is rings or just the valve stem seals. The valve stem seals would be a lot less expensive to have replaced.
  21. Is the VC fluid replaceable? Or is it part of the coupling assembly? Just another reason I will not buy another Lexus, Lexus refuses to admit a design problem or at least find a remedy for our RX300 AWD tranny failures. I know it is a dead product and they have moved on, but their customers have not. Nice automobile except for that major failure in the tranny. I too Like RX NC change the fluid religously, just like I did before my two tranny failures. I was changing at 30k intervals, now I change at 15k or less.
  22. Hey RX NC he is just jealous, I too have quit my corporation job, but am by no means as well off as you are, but I am OK, I baby sit one of my grandaughters 4 days a week and look forward to my evenings and weekends to do the DIY stuff. Have a great weekend.
  23. See, you beat them, plus now you have some new axle shafts to go the journey. God Bless you man for listening to my opinion. Best of luck to you, Lenore (Tom)
  24. Ok the 96 ES300 is front wheel drive, to replace just the outer velocity joints is stupid, I found the Entire axle shafts from Park Place Lexus for $141 apiece with free shipping. You might find them cheaper at one of the independent auto parts stores. Then it is just a matter of installing them or finding an independent garage to do so for you. I know that the labor can be bad at lexus. See if there is a Japanese garage in your locality or a toyota garage, The Camry probably has the same axle shafts. I think you can beat the $280 dollors worth of parts. Labor I dont. know.
  25. You need quite a few tools, but the job is probably a little more than what most people would attempt. I have replace four axle shafts of front wheel drive cars. Please refresh my memory, is the ES300 a front wheel drive or a rear wheel drive car? I have not owned one. You need to give us more specifics on what the parts he wanted to replace.
