I would agree, tires first, the rotors would generally only show that kind of problem when actually braking. Also another possibility is that the balancing weights on the tires have come off.
-
Thanks RX, I suppose you can apply a little penetrating oil to remove them as long as you clean the surfaces real well before putting the new ones in. BY the way I finished the tile around the pool. Next repairing the bottom pool base aggregate before the new liner.

The KYB's seem great, I have them on my RX300 and they look and perform identical to the OEM struts, as for the mounts, I do not know, I used Napa auto parts and they are OK however I do not know if they are the latest configuration for reliability.

Thankyou for your input, My next question is do I just let them fail, or is there a way to see how they are performing at this time. I have no codes and no check engine lights.

Transmission Problems/failures with RX300 awd/fwd
lenore replied to tslex's topic in 99 - 03 Lexus RX300
I am sorry to hear about your addition to our list. Did you file a complaint with the NHTS board ONline? YOU will need your vin# and give a brief paragraph describing the failure and if it caused any potential danger to you or your family when it occured. Thankyou for your discovering our site the bad way. Did they say what failed in your transmission? Lenore -
Hey west, I have 125k on my sensors, should I look at replacing them? And by the way the Denso sensors were going for around $25 apiece. Quite cheap.

Hey members, I am posting again to bring this back up on the board, Any input would be appreciated. Thanks :)

Hey I did a search and came up empty, Has anyone used the Denso Universal 4 wire O2 sensor in their RX300? And the next question is how reputable are those on Ebay?

**** Lexus Vs Toyota Pricing ****
lenore replied to Sweet-Tee's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
Take it to Toyota and enjoy lots of evenings out at dinner for the difference. Yes Lexus is taking you just as they do everyone else. Oh sure you wont get a loaner, but you can rent one for the difference and still have money in your pocket. -

Welcome to world of LEXUS rip off. As for your brakes get them done at Toyota or INdependent, It would have been a lot cheaper. -
Ngk Plugs Compatibility (98 Es300)
lenore replied to Frankie_B's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
I just bought Iridium plugs at the local Lexus Dealership for 10.50 apiece, which was less than the online stores when considering shipping. they were Denso plugs (note this is for the 3.0 liter RX300) -
Good god, buy a Toyota filter and Have Walmart install it. Then see if it leaks.

Transmission Problems/failures with RX300 awd/fwd
lenore replied to tslex's topic in 99 - 03 Lexus RX300
West, but when the trannys fail they have lots of metal particles in the fluid. The fluid could still be failing in both ways, clutch, and gear fatigue. Gear fatigue also builds up heat in the system as well. Especially if the coolers are becoming blocked with contaminants. -
If it is a AWD RX300 I would suggest changing the transmission fluid quite often. Something was changed between the Camry and The developement of the transmission and the failures are quite costly ($4300 and up) MY 99 RX300 has the unusual ability to go into overdrive at exactly 30 miles per hour which is rediculous considering city driving is usually close to or above this speed. I now instruct my wife to defeat overdrive unless on the highway. I don't want the tranny to constantly search for overdrive while going down the city streets, causing undue strain on the driveline. I am on my third transmission and am very unhappy with Lexus of AMerica. They continue to ignore this high failure on a very expensive vehicle and are just dodging the bullet. At least HOnda/Accura stood behind their product and supported the tranny failures on their vehicles. Good luck my friend and I hope you dont join the growing ranks of RX300 owners that shell out big bucks to keep their albatrous running. Shoot, Hyundai guarantees their cars for 10 years or 100k. What a joke Lexus is when it comes to the RX300.

Transmission Problems/failures with RX300 awd/fwd
lenore replied to tslex's topic in 99 - 03 Lexus RX300
I am so sorry that you have joined the ranks of failures, Ignore Monarch, he is a pain in the !@#$%, and does not own a RX300. Please file a complaint with the NHTS board online, you will need the VIN # of the vehicle and write a short summary of your failure. If Dropping into neutral at 55 is not dangerous than what is? I am on my third transmission. It is very interesting that finally someone has said there is a known problem with the planetary gears. We on this site have been waiting for someone to show the failure area. You know many suspected the clutches, but the gears make more sense probably throwing metal fragments throughout the valve body. Please file that report. Yes LExus should be sued for false service intervals and trying to hide the failures by blowing the customers off and admitting nothing. But secretly asking the dealerships to recommend 15k tranny fluid changes. What a low life bunch that runs LExus of AMerica. SO HAVE YOU OWNERS FILED YOUR COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTS BOARD ONLINE???????????????????? And by the way Monarch, keep your LS 400 veiws off the RX300 forums, they are not appreciated or welcome. -
I saw a show on TV showing how they manufactured the car veneers, very interesting as most of the veneers are only .010 of an inch thick and they glue them to plastics to support their shapes.

Well consumers just rated a bunch of car waxes, and Black Magic was #1 and Turtle Wax Carnauba Car Wax T-6 was #2. Very interesting as they both out performed many of the waxes that have been described on the site. Both were Liquids. Nu Finish NFP-80 was one of the Best Pastes waxes and Eagle One one of the best Spray waxes. Get your issue and read the article, was very informational.

Just thought of something, the outer lights harness is under the trunk cover near the spare tire. DO you have the tow package? Maybe your plug got bent or shorted. Anyway look at the wiring under the spare tire area, maybe something cut it.

I shopped for the plugs and was shocked to find the Lexus Dealership (Sacramento) was cheaper than online. I went down to pick them up and they were Denso, The ones that came out were NGK, I admit I have no experience with either good or bad. But that is what lexus gave me. They looked identical as far as the design. Just different brands. Is one better than the other? By the way the rear does not give you any room to pull the plugs out of the hole, you hit the firewall very fast. Hey RX I am doing a tile job around my pool, gettting everything for a new liner. I built this pool 17 years ago and I still marvel that I did that. I mean I did everything. Concrete walls with pool base agregate on the bottom. I thought you would enjoy that Now I am tileing and not you. Tom

Well lets get back on track, I changed my plugs last night, the job should have taken 1.5 hours, but I guess I am loosing it, took me 2.5 hours, I had a heck of a time with my extensions, they kept coming undone while in the spark plug hole, I found a 4inch extension would probably be just perfect, But all I had was a 3 and 6 inch extension. I used adapters and whatever to get in there. The rear plugs truely are a challenge. I did as the tutural said and removed the speed control bracket and pcv hose, but it is still tight. After you remove the coils leave them off until you get all the plugs changed. My car has 125k on it and the plugs looked good, but the ground electrode looked a little deteriated. The threads were very dry on all plugs so when I installed the new ones I used NeverSeize and they screwed in very easily by hand. Torqueing the rear plugs is impossible with a torque wrench so it is by feel. The fronts are a piece of cake. The dust shields were in very good shape, they new ones which I bought and did not use because they were different. My wifes car is running smoothly, but seems to me to lack its old power. I am looking for tips on this, my thoughts are the IAC and Map sensors (cleaning them) but I am looking for suggestions. by the way the plugs were very clean, and no indications of oil, carbon, etc. They were a light tan which in my day meant very good burning. I will admit the plug change was no cup of tea and for large handed folks could be a nightmare. I am 56 years old and guess my dexterity is not what it used to be, but I did it and the car ran afterwards. Happy Memorial day to all Veterans out their, and thankyou for your service to our country.

Is it possible both of them went out at the same time? Put a bulb in one of them and see if it works.

Hey everyone, I ran into the weirdess problem on a brake caliper on my friends truck, I want to share incase you run into this problem. His right front caliper was hanging up and causing severe overheating and of course deadly disk failure. The wheel even turned yellow from the heat. He felt no drag while driving however. Well being conciouses he bought new calipers, disks, pads, and bearings. We installed all, but when we were bleeding them the fluid that came out on the right wheel seemed slower than when we bled the left wheel. Please note both calipers were pumped from the same T connection on the chassis. Well we thought we had done a great job, but a day later the wheel felt hot compared to the left wheel. I then suspected blocked in the brake line. We disconnected it and ran compressed air through it. Just didnt feel good. disconnected the rubber flex line and the air was great. Anyway we replaced the Rubber flex lines on both sides. The right one was definetly restricted. The Rubber had expanded internally. Now all is good. This could get any novice when doing breaks, we were sure the caliper was bad, but turned out being the hose. He is happy though since all brake system components are new, and his fuel economy went up. The restricted line was not allowing the brake fluid to retract the piston. When you pushed the pedal there was enough pressure to atuated the caliper, but not enough to release pressure. Just a tip for everyone. I thought I had seen everything over the years, but that was a new one even to me. Good luck, everyone.

Transmission Problems/failures with RX300 awd/fwd

We would probably get a more true indication if we contacted all the Transmission shops around. Too bad we cant get their database on rebuilts for the RX300.
