  1. I too have enjoyed your experience with the new house, but you are truely a person of great wit, and enjoy the verbal exchanges of PC nature. Boy are people sensitive, wish it would all go away (PC correctness) and we all just enjoy the sharing of experiences. If PC becomes an obsession, than we would not be able to enjoy the great books of our past. Quite frankly PC people are pointy headed intellectials that belong in UC Berkeley or Davis California as well as some of the IVy league schools back east. Thank god for the home grown middle folks in the south and midwest. The east coast and west coast are full of people that seem to pick the fly sh_t out of the pepper barrel. Lighten up and become real Americans like the NC's and RXNC folks. Just my Friday two cents worth from a boy that has lived all over these United States.
  2. Nice job, Being a electronics tech for 38 years and the first six in the Navy, I learned how to repair most anything when backed against the wall. The Navy taught me that you fix it no matter what, the mission goes on. I like the repair detail you gave, it is insighful to those that have the capability and think out of the box. I have pride in that ability that I have achieved over the years, but am always open to new ideas. Thanks tex computer man, thoroughly enjoyed your post.
  3. November of 1998 I was at the local Mercedes dealer, and was shopping for a ML320, I could not get one single salesman to help. Funny, I drove up in a Mercedes but It was like I was invisable. Went down to Lexus and bought the RX300 I own now and the sales people were fantastic, no pressure, all help. The General manager ended up closing the deal that night after taking $7500 off the sticker price. Sacramento Lexus treated us very well. The next day my wife received a dozen long stem roses from the GM. That impressed her a great deal. Mercedes lost a customer forever.
  4. I couldnt find part in their site, but maybe you could call them and describe part, they usually provide free shipping too.
  5. Look on Park Plano Lexus site in Texas
  6. I would not use the Fram filter, I know it is tempting (i have used them for years) but use the Toyota filter or equal in size filter. Wix, Puroator, There are a lot of oil filter threads on this site. Buy the toyota filter online or toyota and the cost is not bad.
  7. Please read the transmission posts on this site, I would not suggest a flush, but a drop the pan and replace the fluid, and make sure it is Toyota Type IV or you will cause more damage. When the pan is dropped replace the filter and unforturnately check for excessive shavings on the bottom of the pan. These could be tell tell signs. Good luck and I hope you dont join the ranks of failed trannys as it is expensive ($4300) typically for the repair. The fluid should be changed every 15K miles to prolong the failure. Of course LExus will not tell you this in their manuals. Keep us posted as to what happens, as I follow the failures.
  8. I have been holding intel for 6 years, It has done nothing to speak of, You need to learn more about tracking and evaluating stocks. Now for a good mutual fund I love Cohen and Steers.
  9. Have the timing belt done at Toyota dealership, it will be cheaper and the service is great.
  10. Thanks RX appreciate the tip. Tom
  11. Hey RX that is great, my wifes has 130k and is exhibitiing a little noise, I will have to check that area.
  12. I would get a fiberglass kit at Walmart and take the line out and fiberglass it back together. paint it black and you are all set. But since it is a new car I would take it to Lexus and ask them to replace it on their dime.
  13. The transmission issure is big time if its an AWD RX300. $4300 for replacement is a lot of money.
  14. To all of you with tranny failures make sure you file a complaint with the NHTS board online, You will need your vin number. Complain that you felt unsafe when it failed. HAVE YOU FILED YOUR COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTS BOARD ONLINE?????????????????????????????????????????????
  15. The Lady informed me she has a 2000 RX300 AWD at 53kmiles. And she just emailed me to add to my list.
  16. Josh, I too am sorry to hear about this loss, God bless you and stay safe.
  17. Well they keep rolling in, another lady just lost her tranny at 53k miles. How sad, I continue to keep a history of the failures. In her case she cannot afford the fix, so it sits in her garage. Great reputation for reliabilty. On the other lexus site, the percentage of failures is at 25 percent roughly. That in my mind is a very high failure rate.
  18. an ignition coil is a transformer that basically steps 12vdc (battery voltage) up to 12000 to 17000 volts voltage which is necessary to fire the spark plugs. The higher voltage will jump the gap on the spark plug electrode and ignite the fuel (Gasoline vapor) in the combustion chamber. Modern engines now have coils on every cylinder and spark plug eliminating spark plug wires. they are controlled by computer signals to fire the coils in the correct sequence.
  19. Take a magnet and put it on the Stainless(is it really) Stainless does not have magnetic properties like regular steel. If the magnet sticks, it is not stainless, and if that is what it is supposed to be, contact Lexus and get them to replace it with the correct product.
  20. Ok SK, I have never used or seen PB Blaster, what exactly is this compound?
  21. Hey RX sorry, but we warned you, It is nice to have friends that help each other, I do the same for my friends. And your wife is right, no change in engine performance, Mine exhibited no change either, but it is done as you say and not again. Hope things are going well for you, enjoy the fall.
  22. I just went to the LEXUs of Plano TEXAS site and the part I think you want is listed, yes there is a California version and Federal version. The good news is that the California version is cheaper. $870 is their price, with free shipping. Hope this helps, by the way it is called the front pipe (I hope) You might call Plano and verify if this is the part you need.
  23. How sad, why is it that so many dealerships (all brands) have lost the meaning of who the customer is. Seems once the dotted line is signed, you are in a sea of sharks. If my car had been damaged like that I would have demanded another car, let them make a loaner out of the damaged car. there is no excuse to have a brand new car repaired because of dealer destruction. Funny, here the Toyota dealership treats my LEXUS better than the dealerships locally. It just goes with who the GM is an how he pushes the bottom line.

    Hd Tv's

The DLP takes that long because the light sources have to come up to brightness and temp. However I too am annoyed by that. I dont know if the new DLP with Light emitting diode is faster, havent been to the store to check them out.

The DLP is great, disadvantage is there is an optimum viewing distance, too close and the picture is Ok, on my 50 inch about 10ft is perfect, closer and the picture is not stunning, but OK. 10 ft and out it is spetacular. As for the bulb, well Samsung has launched LED on their DLP, but of course the cost is rediculous. You can find a 46 inch Samsung for 1500 or less. If you take consumers report or go to Library they have info on all projection sets (DLP and LCD) I like my Samsung, but Viewing angles is also a consideration. From the sides of the viewing angles, quality also decreases. Great set otherwise.
