2013 Lexus Es Shows Up Undisguised In China
LexBob2 replied to gatoman39's topic in 07 - 12 Lexus ES350
I agree that IMO the front end is overdone, at least in the pictures. I'm hoping some of the trim pieces and grill are a little different on the U.S. model. From the pics it doesn't make me want to run out and buy one, but seeing the car in person might change my mind. -
Double ditto. It's usually mentioned anytime a magazine etc. lists various automotive scams.

Steering Shaking, Vibration From Driving Seat...
LexBob2 replied to mellblack's topic in 07 - 12 Lexus ES350
It sounds like your problem should be fixable. As your dealer goes through possible causes they will probably find the cause of the vibration. I had and '07 ES350 and now a 2010 and even with the bad roads around here have never had a shaking or vibration on either car. Good luck to you. -
Look under TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) it should be in there.

2007 Es350 Ticking Noise In Engine Until Warm
LexBob2 replied to lilredcobra's topic in 07 - 12 Lexus ES350
No problem Paul. I do wonder what they did to quiet down the engine. My 2010 is noticeably guieter than the 2007. -
Lexus Mandate To Dealers...synthetic Oil Only?
LexBob2 replied to spgull's topic in 07 - 12 Lexus ES350
Are they extending the change intervals to 10k miles from the current 5k? I had my oil changed two weeks ago and got dino vs. synthetic per my request. I believe the RX has gone synthetic. The $5 difference in price isn't bad at all. -
2007 Es350 Ticking Noise In Engine Until Warm
LexBob2 replied to lilredcobra's topic in 07 - 12 Lexus ES350
I don't believe a fix was ever found for the ticking noise on early ES350's. The good news is that there doesn't seem to be reports of any long term problems caused by it, or at least I've never read or heard about anything. There are a number of theories about the cause of the noise but the engine in the ES doesn't have direct injection (the 3.5 in the IS and GS do) so it's probably not the fuel injection. -
Good catch by SW. The spare is often the culprit and easy to overlook. There are good instructions, with pictures, for resetting the TPMS system in the owners manual. I keep it bookmarked (along with the page for resetting the oil change reminder message) so I can find them quickly.

Try another dealer. As Rob said the problems are fixable. Might be worth a try...

With all of the problems you're having with the car and the fact, you're just not happy with it, it's probably a good time to move into something different. Hopefully you'll have better luck. I had an early build (4/06) 2007 that was problem free over 4 years. No warranty or TSIB work at all, but there were issues reported by other 2007 owners that seem to have been work out.

I do too. I had a 2007 ES350 and when it came time to trade it in I was interested in finding something different. I looked at a lot of cars and CUV's but in the end bought a 2010 ES350. It's hard to beat for the price.

Nope.:) Depreciation, cost of ownership, road test score, reliability etc.

In the new issue of Consumer Reports they rank the Best And Worst Values by segment. In the Upscale & Luxury segment the top 5 Best Values in order are: ES350 Acura TL Lexus IS250 Infiniti G25 Lexus HS 250h They used several different measures to come up with the list.

Hahahaha..Bingo!! Actually thats not a far fetched as you might think. Dealers and repair shops in this area are offering a nitrogen tire fill. They let out as much air as they can and re fill them with compressed nitrogen. Pricing ranges from $10 to $25 for 4 tires. I wouldn't pay for the nitrogen tire fill, but my car came with it. I can't vouch for any increase in gas mileage which is sometimes touted, but I have noticed that the tires do maintain their pressure better during temperature changes. I rarely if ever have to add air to them.

My 2008 Es350 Running On Regular Gasoline
LexBob2 replied to TexasComputerMan's topic in 07 - 12 Lexus ES350
I've followed all of the discussion on this topic and am in the camp that using regular is fine, but can understand if someone is more comfortable using premium in the 2007-2010 models. -
I don't use the Voice Recognition very often, but when I have I've found it to be hit and miss at best. The last time I couldn't get it to dial my son, Scott. It attempted to dial two other people in my contacts whose names sound nothing like his. I rarely mess with it.

My 2008 Es350 Running On Regular Gasoline
LexBob2 replied to TexasComputerMan's topic in 07 - 12 Lexus ES350
Thanks for the update. It should remain that way for you. I ran regular in my '07 after using premium the first few months of ownership and didn't notice any difference. I've run regular only in my '10 with the same results. Beginning with the 2011 models, regular is finally recommended for the ES350. -
dead sales has def been the case for the gs they seemed to have focused on performance regarding the new gs..which makes a TON of sense at that price point, I think customers opting for bmw's, audi's, etc. were passing on the gs for the better performance of the others seems the new gs has the same speed 0-60..plenty fast at 5.7 secs, but the reviews say the handling significantly improved..I drove the 2011 gs, and handling was already pretty good, so the 2013 must be amazing..looking forward to scaring the sales person on my test drive, lol..funny, they don't seem to mind as long as they have some confidence that you are a serious potential buyer..tough job The current gen GS is in a tough spot sandwiched in between the ES and LS. I think the move to make it a true sport sedan (from the sound of things) is the right way to go. It's impressive IMO that the 3.5 V6 is still class competitive in performance, gas mileage etc. after being around all of these model years.
-
I'm anxious to see the new GS in person, but not a candidate for one. I hope the new model does well for the big L. The current GS has been dead in the water for some time. I'll definitely check it out when it arrives in dealerships.

No need to reprogram the fob after changing the battery. If you do it yourself (really easy) the battery is avialble at Radio Shack, Walgreens, Auto Zone etc. Easy to follow instructions are in the owners manual. As mentioned, the dealer is a good option too.

The ES 350 is on Consumer Reports new list of the best vehicles for predicted reliability. It's ranked #6. #1 is the Lexus CT 200h. Just FYI, on the top 10 list are 2 Lexus, 1 Scion and 3 Toyota vehicles.
-
I agree. If you are in an area with multiple dealers, check with a couple to see how their prices compare.
-
Look in your Owners Manual it will give you information on the functions of the display (Disp) button on the steering wheel. You'll also get an explanation of how the information is calculated. I always leave mine on Outside Temperature just out of habit I guess.
-
I saw somewhere that the ES350 will be available in a limited edition Touring Edition. The only big difference, as I recall, is special leather seating surfaces and different wheels. All of the other stuff on it is available in other packages. The only colors are black and white. I think the MSRP was around $40.5k. I'll try to find the link.

A little further information relating to the thread title, and just FYI. Here are the top 5 rated "Upscale Sedans" and the Overall Test Scores from the Consumer Reports article: Genesis (92), ES350 (91), Avalon (86), Maxima (83 and Acrua TL (82).
