  1. I wonder too about the chrome strip on the bottom of the doors and door handles. The various exterior and interior updates/improvements given to the 2010 made a world of difference with the car. I had a 2007 and wasn't planning on a new car until I saw the 2010. My guess is that they will do something similar with the mid-cycle refresh of the 2013. Maybe even something like an 8 speed transmission etc.
  2. The HID's do have a sharp cut off. it took me a while to get used to it. I agree, they are great otherwise and I wouldn't have a car without them.
  3. You didn't mention the year or mileage of you car. It it's within the factory warranty period, it's covered. If you're outside the warranty period, it isn't covered. You might be able to find a friendly dealer to make a goodwill repair, but I wouldn't count on it.
  4. Wayne, both of your issues are covered, with pictures, in the Owners Manual.
  5. If you want ease of application and don't mind doing semi-frequent applications I'd recommend something like Meguires Ultimate Quick Wax every now and then, as well as their Ultimate Quick Detailer after every wash in between, if possible. Each one takes 15 minutes and both are very easy to apply and remove. This works for me, as I just don't want to invest the time and effort (mainly the effort) like I use to.
  6. One of my favorite lines is from the Nixon/Viet Nam era when one of his diplomats said, "it's time to delcare victory and leave".
  7. Unless there are any dealer add ons to the factory sticker (paint sealant, pin striping etc.) the MSRP is the same.
  8. Another crisis. Let the second guessing begin!!
  9. Have you talked to the dealer, or contacted Lexus Customer Service? One or both of htem could probably help you out.
  10. Look online at some dealer web sites under Service Specials and you can usually see what they have to offer in the way of discounts or coupons. It might be worth a call to a Toyota dealership and see what they charge for the fluid change.
  11. Sorry to hear about your vibration problem. It's obviously something with that particular car. I hope you are able to find out what it is and can get it corrected. I've had two ES350's, a 2007 and a 2010 both used extensively on the highway and neither one has had a vibration problem at speeds above 65, 70, 75 etc. You are correct, the ES is somewhat of a geezer mobile favored by the "mature" crowd.
  12. Interesting reivew. I enjoy reading all of the different reviews on the new ES you see a wide range of opinions. In general, it seems like reviewers for enthusiast oriented sources aren't too hot on the car and the more consumer oriented sources seem to like it better. It's been that way with the current gen too.
  13. Thanks for the information. For the most part, I'm not a fast or aggressive driver, but do like more feel and responsiveness to the steering even at slower speeds. I'm anxious to test drive a 2013 and see what it feels like vs. my 2010.
  14. Glad to be of help. As they say at Chick-Fil-A, "My pleasure!" Is a Chick-Fil-A sandwich any good? You betcha. Has the distinct, pleasant flavor of free enterprise with subtle overtones of freedom and respect ;) And how does it taste? (Hopefully not like a paper political flyer that comes in the mail, lol). Amazingly, one of the best chicken sandwiches I can find (and sorry about my flip remark before...it's rare to find somebody who asks literal questions anymore, so I got diverted into the politics). WAY off topic here, but Wendy's Spicy Chicken Filet all the way for me!!
  15. How was the steering and handling in the 2013 vs. your 2008? I've read some early reviews that both have been improved a bit - And I've read a couple that say there isn't much difference. As much as I've enjoyed my '07 and '10 I would like sharper steering and handling from the ES. I sat in a new 2013 yesterday and like you was more impressed with the exterior and interior in person vs. the pictures. I wasn't crazy about the pics of the new dash but it wss pretty nice in person.
  16. Welcome. If you do a "Search" you will find alot of information and opinions on this subject to help you make up your mind. IMO, use whatever you are comfortable with. You can't go wrong either way.
  17. Congrats on your mileage! If I keep my speed to 70 or less, and the terrain isn't too hilly, I can hit 32 mpg's in my 2010 too. Sometimes when my wife is driving she'll see 33 mpg's, but that dips when I get back behind the wheel.
  18. I have a 2010 ES350 too (had a 2007 prior) and have never had this happen. I agree, take it in to the dealer. One downside will be if you or they can't replicate the problem they won't be able to do much. It's a chance you take, but worth it. At least you'd have the issue documented.
  19. My reply would be, why don't you try the RX forum??
  20. I see your car is a 2011 and likely still under warranty. Have you spoken to anyone at the dealership for advice/input?
  21. Shops that do a lot of oil changes will know how to rest the oil change reminder light. Instructions are also in the owners manual so owners can reset it too.
  22. I just had my oil changed today at a Lexus dealership for $59.95. It included (dino) oil. filter and tire rotation. It was a one time deal for a preferred customer type of card the dealership had sent out. Even though I didn't buy my current car there (I did buy my previous ES350 there) you get free car washes with the card. I usually do my own washes but may use the card now and then especially in the winter months.
  23. I'm surprised too, but on the new GS which is out now they stuck with the 6 speed too. Maybe they might add a 7 or 8 speed down the road with a mid cycle refresh?
  24. I'm liking the pictures of the new ES, but still want to see one in person to determine if I lust for one. Does look intriguing though...
  25. That doesn't change the fact that Lexus' position is that the oil change interval should NOT be extended when using synthetic oil. Any synthetic oil. What is Mobil 1's guarantee? Will they replace a $12,000 Lexus engine? If you have sludge (which is incredibly unlikely) and you have only changed the oil every 15k, Lexus WILL NOT honor the warranty. Thats 100% certainty. Personally, I'd follow the manufacturers warranty intervals vs. the oil company/distributors, whether or not I agree with all of it.
