  1. Mine is doing this now. Is it really simply a gascap issue? I actually did try to twist the cap tighter after I had it happen. My son used the truck for a couple weeks and just returned it (great kid, washed and fully gassed up) and possibly didn't secure the cap all the way. I had a myriad of troubles/lights and issues with my Toyota Sequoia and dash lights. Turned out my mechanic lost my gascap when he was taking WAY too long to do some repairs and bought a cheap !Removed! gascap from Napa (nice enough to bill me for it actually). The lights began and NO it couldn't be the NEW gas cap, he said. I ordered a factory on from Amazon, lo and behold, NO lights!
  2. I received the recall notice last week. It's for "sticky dash" and cracked dashes. Mine is so far the "sticky dash" issue, it's a 2005 GX470 and I intend to have Lexus replace it before the sticky turns to the cracking I expect. I hope you all get refunds for the repairs you had to shell out money for.
  3. I am nothing but disappointed in the "stealership" I had the misfortune of dealing with in Northern Illinois. I Yelped photos after I had a "service" done on my 2005 GX. The "master tech" lied on the report that he checked the filters/radiator and cabin filters. Heck, I don't think the idiot even changed the oil! I later read some of the horror stories on the YELP page regarding Woodfield Lexus/Resnick group actually sold some poor guy a vehicle that they claimed was Lexus Certified that WASN'T. stay away from these sleazeball ripoff joints and please read online reviews from other people to sort out what to expect. I rarely have time to do my own maintenance as I did on past vehicles I've owned but I'm starting to think I had better begin again. It's so easy for them to lie and then in my case, the "napoleon" owner called me yelling at ME for posting what they had done on YELP. Read reviews and form your own opinions based upon real people's experiences folks! Cheers!
  4. There is no humanly manner to remove the lower screw to remove the headlight assembly. The only way to get the so called clearance bulb our it to remove the main plastic panel and contort yourself under the front right side of the vehicle, use a needle nosed pliers to cautiously turn the light socket assembly and pull the unit out, pop in the bulb and test. The passenger side is accessible via the upper fender well with strong thumb and forefinger turns and do the same. Then curse idiotic engineer that placed the headlight unit in the vehicle in a completely unserviceable manner.
  5. i have this same problem intermittently. My solution is easy, I will either run the moonroof through a full cycle, opened and then closed and then open and closed again and that usually sets it back into place or...I use the venting setting to lift or raise the rear of the moonroof up and then down until the rattle is no longer occuring when I use my fingers to push the rear edget of the roof up and let its weight bring it back down. If you are getting the rattling noise while you're driving or not, you can push up on that rear portion of the moonroof and you'll feel the ever so slight movement and hear a faint rattle noise, by using the vent setting you can take up the "slack" as it were, and hold it from vibrating,a simple solution-simpler yet is to do what my Dad says to do, slide the sunroof cover shut and turn up the radio!
  6. I have both the GX and the Sequoia and unless you're going to get the NEW toyota sequoia you're going to have a vehicle rated to tow less than the GX however with that said, I have towed the exact same rig (23'boat, trailer (obviously) and gear) with both my sequoia and GX and while the sequoia is rated about 500 lbs LESS than the GX I feel the GX doesn't have the overall secure feeling offered by the toyota....for what it's worth. I just returned from a tow of over 1000 miles (still crying over the gas mpg but it was a blast to have the boat on the icy clean waters of Northern MN) and can safely say that the toyota felt like it matched the weight of my rig better EVEN with toy/Lexus ratings the way they are. I run about 6,000lbs on the rig but will verify some time at the local scales...
  7. Can someone please confirm that an out of warranty by age and miles GX can get the TSB done on Lexus/Toyota? I was just at my toyota dealership who is busy doing full frame replacements on Tundra pickups and supposedly it may pass on to the Sequoia line which I also own one of... I hate the TSB's that remain "secret" and stuff like that! please let me know guys, thanks!Jack

  9. I just purchased a 2005 GX470 with Mark Levinson, rear camera & Navi, was not happy to learn the Lexus folks locked out the GPS while the truck is moving. My wife often uses the GPS while I drive--any way around that? Also, the unit has BlueTooth and I have it working fine with my Samsung Galaxy S phone and my wife's Treo however I want to run my IPOD Touch throught the system too, how do i get the IPOD input?? thanks!
