  1. "when you turn on the ignition the lcd will say security if a code is set." -- The word "SEC" shows up if you previously enabled the security system but you are not able to input the correct code after you re-set the battery, as in my case. "If not then the feature is disabled." -- true, as is now, after the dealership guy (permanently, I guess) disabled it (in minutes). "where the info is how to do what the dealers do?" -- Of course it is not in the owners manual, or I would have done it long ago, or a car thief could do it and thus defeat the purpose of the system. I guess the info is in the dealership's secret manual! What I mean is, the owners manual tells you how to disable or change the security code, _if_ you have the current code. But if you don't, then you may need to ask the dealership to permanently disable it.
  2. The owners manual of my 1992 LS400 says that there is no code preset by factory. I went to Longo Toyota/Lexus in El Monte, CA this afternoon. The guy cancelled/disabled the system for free in minutes! Horay!
  3. I think I should not rely on the shape of the bad light bulbs I have now. After all, these light bulb may not be the right ones and that is why they burnt out. That said, they do have a "tip" at the top like the one here: http://ecom.sylvania.com/sylvaniab2b/b2b/catalogstart.do?search=catalog Click Miniature & Automotive - the last item on the left, then Automotive then Signal & Sidemarker And you'll see Type 194 as the sixth item. (They don't have Type 159, as you can see.) Interestingly, this Type 194 looks different from the one in http://www.elightbulbs.com/Eiko-40427-194-Miniature-Automotive-Light-Bulb&source=GoogleBaseCSE?gclid=CIOm-7i4kLwCFepDMgodYWgAAQ which does not have a tip. Does it make a difference? On the other hand, I found a Type 159 at http://www.eiko-ltd.com/Products.aspx?ProductIndex=159 but it does not have a tip on the top. That's why I wonder whetehr the bad bulbs I have now are of the wrong type. The EIKO web site does not say how to order it. Incidentally, Osram-Sylvania's web site is faulty. https://www.sylvania.com/en-us/applications/automotive-lighting-systems/Pages/lrgallbulbs.aspx?year=1992&qual=&model=1329&make=54 gives the wrong info: it says the marker light (and the license plate light) is Type 168; as I said, 168 does not fit the marker light connector. And when one goes to https://www.sylvania.com/en-us/applications/automotive-lighting-systems/Pages/lrgmain.aspx and select 1992-Lexus-LS400- Other Exterior Lighting -Front Side Marker Light Bulb It says This bulb location uses LED lighting and is not a simple replacement part. There is a printed circuit board unit that can normally be found at the dealer.
  4. 1. I do not know whether my lighting housing is aftermarket or not. All my lighting housings have the word "TOYOTA" engraved. 2. My owner manual clearly states that the type for marker lights is 159, and the door courtesy light is 194. The lighting guide given by Randy states that both the front marker lights and door courtesy lights is 194. I pulled out the front door courtesy light bulb and it is different from the (bad) marker light bulb that I have. And the 194 light bulb simply does not fit in the marker light connector. 3. I went to an auto parts store and the 194 light bulb they have is different from my marker light bulb. 4. The (bad) marker light bulb that I have has the word "Osram W171" on it.
  5. I need replacement light bulbs for my front side marker lamps. The owners manual says those should be bulb number 159. However I visited Pepboys, Autozone, NAPA, OReily (in Los Angeles area) and none carries bulb number 159. Some conversion chart or on-line catalog says it should be 168. I know that's wrong because I pulled out my license plate light bulbs, which are 168, and they don't fit in the marker light sockets. So, where can I find bulb no. 159? Available in Lexus dealership only?
