  2. I hope you guys are not getting tired of all my questions, but here is the latest. When I open the drivers door all interior lights work except the pass side light in the door arm rest.. if i leave the drivers door open and go open the pass side door, the light in the arm rest turns on. If, however i had the drivers door closed and open the pass side door none of the interior lights turn on, Weird Huh?? I was thinking that it was the switch that is activated when the door is open, but that does not make sense if the door light turns on if the drivers side door is open, so the car must know that the pass door was opened, but if this is the case why, when the drivers door is closed no lights come on when just the pass side is opened. Also I cant even see where the door switch is to check it. Anyone have any ideas on this.. is there an ECU that controls the interior lights, and if so where is it? Thanks Woozy

  4. UPDATE... I took off the covers to the steering colume to see if maybe it was binding wires, they all looked fine. I saw that there was a connector that is right above the cover to the gears for the tilt motorand goes to the columne mounted switch and back to the motor, so i figured that this was what fed power to the motor. So I disconnected the connector and checked the output side from the switch, figuring that I would see 12VDC ant the 2 prongs, one for up and one for down.. well I got nothing on either one. At that point i figured that the switch was bad, because i knew power was getting to the switch as the tele fuction worked. To prove the point i decided to jump 12VDC to the connector going to the motor, assuming that it would tilt up or down depending one which pin i was on... DANG.. I got nothing doing this either... so now in TOTALLY STUMPED... I dont believe BOTH the switch AND the motor are bad... especially as the switch would only be half bad as the tele function works fine from the switch.. ANYONE have any Ideas? Have i LOST MY MIND...
  5. I have read all the posts on the tilt gear problem, and I will say the video and the pictures were great, my problem is that there appears to be no power getting to the tild motor at all.. there is no noise at all when I activate the switch, although the switch works fine fot the tele *BLEEP*tion. I suppose it could be the motor, but i have seen no posts on the motor going bad. I was interested in the thread regarding the gear where somone talked about the wiring "pulling" the connectors apart, put that seemed to cause an intermittent problem, where mine simply does nothing. I Hope im not bothering th group. but I want to know if the switch is a problem area. or could the wiring problem have completely disconnected the tilt connectop, or is it a single connedctor for both functions.. and Ideas would be great, and im sorry if im asking stupid questions.. thanks Woozy
  6. I searched and there was only one thread on this topic, and not much info there. Here is the situation. When the cruise main id pressed the light in the dash goes on, not sure if this means the fuse is good or not. When I try to set the speed the cruise light on the gash goes out, and obviously it is not set. it also flashes the cruse light in the dash 1 or 2 times, then it remains off. Can anyone tell me where the CC ECU is located? Would that be a good place to start, assuming that the fuse is good? If not whjere should I start? Thanks in Advance

  10. Hi, Im a new menber and just bought a beautiful 1991 LS 400, I have owned a number of these cars and decided i wanted another. This one needc notthing except the front seats need to be recovered. First does anyone have a suggestion for a good reasonably priced supplier of these covers? I see that there are some on Ebay and was wondering if anyone had tried any of these. I have restored many classic cars, mostly 60's and 70' cars, and have become quite good at recovering interior seats, but I have not done a more modern car. I figure getting the seats out of the car will be pretty easybut im wondering if there is any trick to getting the power section of the seat seperated from the seat bottom, should i position the seat like all the way forwar/backward prior to removing it from the car? Also how does the seat back seperate from the seat bottom, any tricks there? What about removing the headrest I would be most greatful for any advice the membership can provide Thanks Woozy
