  1. That is very nice. The side skirts are crazy. How about suspension? I'm sure people have bags or coilovers. I've had a few cars with coilovers, but never bags. Can anyone who has had both that can give me a comparison? Difference in ride quality, adjustability, etc? On a 13 it is recommended to replace control arms, tension rods, tie rods, etc. Is this necessary for bag kits as well?
  2. So I did the diagnostic test, and i'm getting a 25 and 26. I don't have much time to research this tonight, but how could it be running too rich and to lean? Is this an o2 sensor issue?
  3. I just want to know who makes it. I like the subtle kit.
  4. Anyone know what aero kit this is? http://www.lexuspic.com/lexus/car/pictures/2010/11/img6961qb91.jpg And has anyone done a fender mount mirror conversion? Please post pics if you have any. Also, what kind of suspension setup is everyone running (pics please). I can't really decide between coilovers or a bag kit. Any suggestions or experiences with either?
  5. Is it a methane type smell (natural gas ie; !Removed!...)? And does it come and go? Mine does this periodically. I've been told it could be one of the cats going bad.
  6. ok, so after several tests and faulty alternators, I found the issue. For some ridiculous reason the parts store had a bad batch of alternators. Had one ordered from another store, slapped it on, and it drove as it should for about 2 days. Now the cel came on, and i'm catching brief sniffs of methane? Cat going bad i'm guessing? Has anyone else had this issue? It seriously smells like someone farted in my air ducts. And it only lingers for a block or so. I wasn't driving out of the ordinary. Just cruising along at 40mph. I plan on checking the code/codes in the morning. But I can't be the only one with new !Removed! air freshener.
  7. Anything? Any sure fire ways to troubleshoot this thing? Anything helps at this point. I do plan on adding my contributions once I get used to this thing. But as for now, I am still a dunce.. It was charging at 15 and a half amps yesterday, but now it's running at 12. I'm pretty sure the alt is bad yet again. what is really weird is the alt fuse didn't blow.
  8. I did my research before I bought it. I love how mercedes and bmw was all *BLEEP*ed off about it. I had the chance to to pick up a 93 and a 95, but i definitely wanted the first gen. I love the way the car drives, and handles. Unfortunately, i've been having wiring issues since I got the thing. Little did I know when I bought the car, the guy had charged the thing for an hour (long enough to drive it without it dying) so it wouldn't start again when I got it home. I've changed the alt and battery, but I'm still having some issues. At first it was overcharging, now it's not charging at all. I'm sure i'll ask enough questions, and do enough research to figure it all out. As for now, it's kind of hard to enjoy it when it's in the garage most of the time. My only beef is they spent a billion dollars on r&d, it has everything short of a automatic bj machine, but they didn't make it lsd factory. I'm not sure where everyone else is from, but we just got 8 inches of snow. Another 8-10 is on it's way. All I'm saying is a lsd factory would have been nice. so that and suspension will be the first thing to change once I get it up to spec.
  9. Welcome The LS is the greatest car on earth.......................... Lol thanks. So I've heard. I seriously can't wait to get the little bugs worked out so I can start dumping money into this thing. I've had it about a week now, and people coming into my work can't stop commenting about it. Even with my built 240, it neer turned as many heads as this thing does stock. But thanks for the welcome guys. I can't wait to start learing this thing.
  10. Thanks for the replies. Any idea how I would test to find a bad ground? I have also read about the trunk wiring issue. Is it just the loom on the left hand side? Or are there more wires in the trunk I can check? I took a look at the ones on the left, and there doesn't seem to be any gashes out of the wires. Even if that were the case, would it cause that bad of a drain? One again, thank you for any help.
  11. I have spent the past week (since I bought the car) trying to find out what the warning lights mean. I have a 1990 ls, and the battery, brake, antilock, rear tail light, etc. keep coming on. A friend who also owns an ls said it's just the alt or battery. Sure enough, as i get home from buying the car, it wouldn't start again. So the next day i buy and install a new battery and alt. It didn't fix the problem. It starts and drives perfect, but these lights are driving me insane. They stay on til the car is warm, and go away when the car comes to a stop. But the blower motor (heat) dies down quite a bit, and the lights dim. As soon as i get on the gas again, the warning lights come on again. But all the interior light get bright, and the blower motor blows harder. I'm guessing I have a draw somewhere? I have a good mechanical ability, but I am clueless when it comes to electronics or wiring. I am very ashamed to admit it, but I don't even know how to use a multimeter... I have seen this instance in several forums, but i have yet to find a definite answer or solution. I would appreciate any help on this subject. If this has been covered, and solved in any other post, I am very apologetic. The only answers I have found are "it's your battery", or "it's your alternator". As I mentioned, I have bought new, and replaced both. Not remaned, btw. Even if someone can lead me in the right direction, i would be forever in debt.
  12. Sorry for the double post. I don't know if it the weather here, but this site is running really slow on my comp.
  13. This is a bit awkward considering I have been a member of 1 forum ever (for 5 or 6 years), and i feel as if I am writing a personals ad. But here we go. My name is Josh, i'm 26, and I reside in Kansas City, Mo. I have been a nissan 240sx owner since I was 18, and a friend from japan recently opened my eyes. "after 25, If you aren't professional, You have to give up drifting". At first I didn't get what he was trying to say. Literally, and metaphorically. But after seeing where it is headed, and how bad people my age look hanging out and driving at events, I definitely understand now. I was turned onto the ls from another mutual friend. After doing some research, I knew this was the car for me. Long lasting, classy, and still able to modify. I just bought my first Lexus less than a week ago. Other than a few quirks (which I will make other posts for), I can't be more satisfied for the price. I paid 2300 for a 1990 ls with 170k. It wasn't the best maintained, but it wasn't the worst car I have ever bought either. So far, i am absolutely in love with the ride quality and power. I am looking forward to learning this car inside and out. I also look forward to meeting fellow enthusiasts who can lend some knowlege to a new ls guy. Thanks for reading, and long live my ls...
