  1. I had ask the same question to my service technician at a Lexus dealership, his reply was: 2004 or 2005 LS430, stated most of the problems for the 430s had been corrected since it came in 2001. The lowest price I saw for a used 2004 LS430 at the dealship was $25k with about 50-60K miles on it, and this was within the past couple of weeks. but don't quote me, I might have missed the milage reading. good luck and let us know if you purchase one.
  2. rich in soul :o enjoy it and don't worry about it.
  3. thanks for the information, Now I have to check if I put it in correctly, just saw a picture of the air filter with an arrow pointing a certain direction.
  4. would you recommend cleaning the cabin air filter with vacum cleaner or buying a new one, Asked the parts guy at dealership, stated you shouldn't vacum it, but replace it. cost $ 56 When I pulled the cabin air filter out from behind the glove compartment, the bracket that holds the filter states: to clean, use air blower . so I guess the parts guy is right in one way, I replaced the the filter with a new one, and kept the old one, I vacum it . 2000 LS400
  5. the website "streetkeys.com". the keys that they are showing is the correct one, I just compare mind with the one showing. so put in the year of your vehicle, the make and model, do not have keys, and that is the one that I have. hope this help you.

  8. ok i understand that i have to drive the car but the hood wont open to even be able to get a charge go get a battery charger, one that you can keep attached to the battery, it will stop charging when fully charged, if the voltage drop, the charger will recharge it again. I think its called battery maintence charger, you keep it plug to a electrical outlet and to your car battery. regarding hood, pull latch from the inside of the vehicle, get out and walk to the front of the hood, take your fist and and slighly pound the hood, the hood may pop up, and you may get to the latch. 9. It is not at all uncommon for cars with V8 engines to raise people's insurance rates. My rates for a V6 Mitsubishi Diamante were higher than for the 4-cylinder Camry, but going from the Mitsubishi's V6 to the Lexus' V8 did not change my rates at all. So it probably depends on your insurance company, and the relationship you have with your agent (if you have one). My agent is a family friend who does his best to work with me on the price of my coverage. That is probably why my rates did not change. thanks for the reply, I had a 92 LS400 in 2005 until june of 2006, and my insurance rate did not go up. but once i purchased the 2000 LS400, the rate jumped, had I not called up the company, I would have kept paying a higher premium. The agent stated that she had input my vin # into the computer, and it came out to be a high performance vehicle. the agent had to do more research into this, and found out that this vehicle should be classified as a standard policy, the agent also stated this occurs for vehicles in california. I actually told them this is a 4door vehicle and is a old mans car B) . so i am happy now, and my premium is down !!! :D I have been using this insurance company for 20yrs.
  10. Has anyone's LS400 been rated as a high performance vehicle by their insurance company. my premium went up to 3K for one year including insuring a 07 toyt suv. after I called the insurance company, and complaint about it, they took a look at it again, and told me it was a mistake, and dropped my premium by 1k. so all of you, please check on your policy. I have a clean record, no tickets, no claims for over 10 years.
  11. :o below my front drivers seat is a compartment with a black plastic container, you pull it out, and inside the black plastic container is a first aid kit with lexus loco on it. its bigger than a man's wallet. I have a 2000 LS400 platinum series. passenger front seat has no compartment.
  12. now a days, you can check the internet for a garage lift, cost about $2 to $3K for one. if you buy a garage lift, make sure you can lift from the frame otherwise, you will just have extra parking for another car underneath.
  13. expect to pay about $1200 to $1300 from the lexus dealership. I had the same problem, lucky me, I had purchased extended warranty for my 2000 Ls 400. Replaced throttle body unit.

  15. even with bad gas mileage, we all should be happy with the price of gas here in the U.S.A, I was talking with a German tourtist in Honolulu, Hawaii at a Costco warehouse, he mention that gas in Germany was $9.00 a gallon, and we shouldn't be complainting at all. He also mention that it would be cheaper to buy a BMW here in Hawaii and shipped it back to Germany. and his last statement " your crazy president ". sorry not about Lexus. Also San Francisco has the highest gas price in the nation, $3.45 for regular unleaded gas!!!!!!!!!!! :chairshot:
  16. I had a similiar problem with my toyota tacoma (2002) double cab 4x4, the rep came out and stated enviromental and not cover by warranty, also my chrome bumper was starting to rust also, not under warranty, since I had purchased numerous of vehicle from this dealership, they took care of the bumper and not the paint . but in truth, I know for a fact that this truck was sitting in the dealers lot for more than two weeks, so they should have taken care of it. they did detail the truck out again, but didn't really solve the problem. Maybe your 06 lexus had been sitting out in the dealership lot prior to you buying, so they actually was at fault for not covering or protecting this vehicle. as we all know, all these new vehicles sit out in the hot sun collecting dust, and the workers come out and spray down the cars in the morning to rinse off the vehicles, and they don't follow their own rules about not washing cars out in the hot sun. lexus rep are not specialist in paint flaws, they can say anything they want, and make you jump thru hoops to resolve your problems, You can always call up a news station and see if they may try to help you out, they always like a good story regarding big dealership and how they screw with the paying public. no harm in calling them up. more to gain!
  17. if she just got cited for tinted windows, don't waste your time to protest in court, just take the tint off, and have a police officer sign off on the ticket, no points will be put against your drivers license. some police officers have a peeve of certain violations, and will enforce it. Officers safety, can't see who is inside the vehicle, you don't know if some one is pointing a gun at you as you walk up to a vehicle, this should concern everyone who gets *BLEEP*ed off at a bad driver, and you flip him off, or swear at him or her, you will never know whats behind that tinted window time for a group hug why can't we all get along now back to our LEXUS
  18. Are you sure its the security system? it could be your starter going out, I just had my starter changed couple of month ago, one day my car wouldn't start, just heard it go click, but couple of minutes later, it started up for me. mechanic friend told me the starter maybe going out. finally had it replaced by dealership, car was under warranty. I also have 2000 LS400
  19. I also have a 2000 Ls 400, had the same problem that you mention, was on the freeway to southern California, just got off the freeway, rolled across the intersection, stopped and turn off my engine, restarted it, and continue on my way. went to Lexus Dealership the next day and had my whole throttle body unit replaced. Parts $999.67 Labor $105.60 also gasket, throttle body $19.12 Thank god for extended warranty!!!! This was the 2nd time that it happen, the first time it happen, the dealership in Northern Ca. could not or did not find cause of problem.
  20. just had my 90k mile service for my 2000 Ls 400. had it done by dealership, cost $1100 at the same time, they replace my starter, water pump, thermosat, and timing belt. plus all the Idler sub- assy, this was a very good bargin. How did i get such a good bargin, I had purchase an extended warranty when I purchased my Ls 400 last year. like people say, pay now or pay later. as you know, I had my throttle body unit, AC blower motor, and cruise control switch replaced. this was all taken care through my extended warranty, which cost me $1500 when I purchased my vehicle. so money was well spent at that time. Yes, I probably could have done my 90K miles services alot cheaper. but all my issues were taken care of during this service. yes my pocket book hurts, but if i waited, it could of cost me a lot more.
  21. make sure this vehicle does not have water damage from floods 2 years ago. :cries:
  22. Thanks for your suggestion. I have found my problem after one week. it was bugging the sh-t out of me. I took a putty knife, and slid it inbetween the top of the ashtray door. pushed down on this metal object that I saw, the ashtray door opened. to my surprise the cigarette lighter was upside down in its receptical. my ashtray door is now functioning correctly!
  23. I searched the site regarding ashtray, it tells me how to pull the ashtray out. My problem is the ashtray will not open when you push on it. the springs are not broken, because when you push the face of the ashtray, it bounce back alittle, but it will not open at all. :chairshot: I have a 00 LS400. Don't know if something is blocking it from the back. The other day I had the parking brakes on, gear shifter in park, and the engine off, I was stepping on the brake pedal when I heard a tapping noise just under the shift console, it would occur each time I stepped on the brake pedal. you can also see a little movement of the console as I stepped on the brake pedal. No it does not happen now, My ashtray wil not open. any Ideas? Thanks and Happy 4th of July
  24. when i traded my old 92 LS400 to the dealership, the LCD had not been working, when the manager came out to inspect my trade in, he turn the ignition on, and all the LCD were working. thats because my car was sitting in the sun for about an hour.
