  1. Own a 2001 RX300 with 94,700 miles. The engine malfunction, VSC and TRAC warning lights popped on about 10 days ago. Replaced the air filter and the lights went off and all seemed well. Until the next day. A quick stop at the convenience store and when the car was re-started it began to jerk and the lights started flickering. Just as we got to the destination - ironically, a funeral - the car went completely dead. No power steering, nothing. Started right back up and we made it home okay. Still no warning lights so we figured maybe something got knocked loose when replacing the air filter or some other random thing. Until yesterday when the trifecta of warning lights came back. It's not the gas cap. The battery is one year old. Have been advised that it could be wiring from the battery to the alternator. Or that we may need a new alternator. My husband's not able to work on the car, I know very little about engines and we can't afford to go to the dealer. Anybody else have the same experience or any ideas? Want to be armed with as much knowledge as possible before taking it to a shop. Many thanks.
