  1. Thanks cduluk do you know if there's a sunlight/UV sensor linked in to the Climate Control? According to my service manager there isn't, which I find hard to believe. He says there's just the external temp sensor and the in-cabin temp sensor. cheers Satz
  2. Hi all I've noticed that if I leave my Climate Control in Auto mode during winter, it doesn't seem as warm in the car as when I use the 'manual' mode (Set at same temp). Also... I've noticed that even in manual mode, the temperature of the air coming out of the vents is noticeably different at different times (even when the engine is already hot, and the outside temp is the same), so I have to increase the temp setting. I thought I could just keep the temp setting at one setting, and it should keep the interior temp reasonably stable, regardless of whether it's first thing in the morning, or later in the night... I don't use the AC even when in Auto mode. However i've tried with it on, and it makes no difference. Do other owners find the same experience? And do you know where the cabin temp sensor is? many thanks Satz
  3. I haven't got access to my Navigator instruction manual, so could someone please tell me how to change the Route Preferences? 2007 RX 350 with factory nav. I have my first long trip planned tomorrow morning, and I couldn't find the relevant menu screen when I tried this morning... many thanks Satz
  4. interesting...my 07 RX350 has started making the growling noise over the last 2 months. Initially LExus said it was tyre feathering, so I was back and forth with the tyre shop, without resolving anything. Now Lexus have agreed to replace one of the front bearings. Surprising, as my car has only travelled 58,000km. They said it was the first RX350 with which they've had bearing problems!
  5. Hi all Could someone tell me how to change the rear wiper blade on the 07 RX 350, please? Searched on here but couldn't find useful info thank you Satz
  6. ahh... Do you know if the knobs themselves come off the louvres without breaking them? I'm thinking of transferring the chrome strips from a new Corolla, so would prefer to be able to replace the knobs once I've removed the chrome... :whistles: many thanks again S
  7. Hi again Had a close look at my side vents today. I never realised that there was a black strip through the centre. So I guess I need to lever that off without damaging the knob itself. Looks like I'll need to prise it off at each end of the black strip? Btw, what did you mean by : "I had to gain access to the back of the chrome ones from the donor vehicle?" Did you pry the chrome strips off the same way as the black ones? cheers Satz
  8. hi cduluk! Fantastic writeup and great photos... That's exactly what I'd like to do. When you say the chrome slit pops out...do you mean literally just the thin piece of chrome? How much force does it need to get it off? And then you just glue that on top of the existing black plastic knobs? thank you Satz
  9. nice writeup I did exactly the same process a few weeks before I saw your guide. However I couldn't remove the end 'cap' without breaking one of the clips inside. The cap still stays on, but not quite as firmly as before. I took the roof rails off to reduce weight, and also wind noise. cheers Satz
  10. I wish the RX 330/350 had chrome knobs on the control lever for the side AC vents! Jsut like the centre vents have. Such a tiny ommission makes the whole vent look a bit cheap as it's just plain black plastic. I noticed that the new Corolla has chrome knobs on the side vents...which got me wondering whether anyone has changed their RX's side vent knob to a chrome type? If so, how did you get the original knob off? btw, I'm referring to the knob in the centre of the vent that is used to adjust the direction of the vanes. cheers S
  11. hi, in the end I actually cut into the carpet just around the rear floor-vent area directly under the passenger seat. Managed to bring out the DVD junction box and headphone transmitter. Luckily the passenger seat slides a surprisingly long way forward, allowing much easier access to the floor under it. Now I've got to hope that the carpet will stick down again...using velcro tabs or something similar. cheers
  12. Hi cduluk I got as far as exactly what you outlined in your message. HOwever that didn't allow me enough access to the junction box which is under the carpet, directly under the seat... Lifting the carpet near the sill did allow me to see the box, but not actually remove it.. cheers Satz
  13. Mine's an 07 build RX350 with built in Nav. I've read all the discussion, but was wondering whether there is a way just to bypass the "I Agree" screen automatically? I don't mind not being able to program the Dest on the move, but just having to press "I Agree" irritates me! thank you S
  14. Hi all My 07 RX350 has the aftermarket rear-seat DVD player with the headrest mounted screens. This came with the car when I bought it recently used. Anyway, now one of the screens has died suddenly and I'm trying to access the junction box that seems to be under the carpet below the passenger seat! From what I can see, I don't know how the installers got this unit under there. The carpet seems to be perfectly positioned, as indeed are all the trim panels. (This is not what I've experienced from most places here that work on cars!) Any ideas on how I could remove carpet underneath the seat, without actually removing the seat? I was thinking of cutting the carpet, but was hoping there'd be some other suggestion! :) Thank you
  15. hi gumnut not sure whether you ever resolved your query. But I have an 07 RX350 on which I recently changed the Map DVD. It's a matter of locating the player under the rear floor, to the side of the tool tray. Then you just swap the DVD and away you go! It's about $350 from a Lexus dealer. NOt sure if it's any different to buying from Sensis directly. Perhaps the Lexus one also updates o/s? I didn't notice any difference. cheers Satz
  16. Not sure about the duelers, but I made a mistake buying yokohama parada spec x tires for my rx. They were fairly quiet at first, then became noisy, very noisy after just 2000 miles. So you cant always trust reviews!
  17. hi all could someone please let me know the procedure for changing the satnav DVD on an RX350? I've searched the net and this forum and seem to get conflicting advice. Some say the DVD player is located in the boot somewhere (but where exactly?), whilst others say you need to remove some panel on the main DVD head unit. And another one I read said you just insert the DVD into the player and it automatically updates! Could someone please clarify what exactly to do for an RX model? thank you Satz
  18. hi all evertyime I turn the car on, the AC switches to recirc. This happens whether the AC is on or off, and whether it's in manual or AUto mode. Is there anyway to force the recirc to stay off, so I don't have to switch it off everytime I start? I know I can increase the temp, but I'd like it to be at its coldest thank you Satz
  19. hi guys took the door trims off to check whether the tinting guys had replaced everything. It appears to be as it should, with a plastic stuck on sheet covering the opening, and a thick clothlike lining on the inner panel. ALso removed the roof rack cross bars, which seemed to have little or no effect on the noise I was getting. I too was wondering whether it was tyre noise, though somehow instinctively (given all the various parameters at the time) I feel it isn't. The tyres were the Yokohama Parada Spec x which were quite highly rated on tirerack, which is in fact why I bought them. I wonder if I'm being too picky with the wind noise... I've got it booked for the dealers to look at in a few days. Let's see what they say cheers Satz
  20. hi all have only had my 07 350 for 3 weeks, and the wind noise is really annoying me. At speeds of over 100kmh (60mph), the wind noise seems to dramatically increase. I don't think it's the mirrors, as I've driven with them folded (in fact folded them electrically while driving) and it didn't make much difference. Seems to happen in some travel directions more than others. eg on the same highway it seems worse in one direction than the other Is this normal on the RX? :( thanks
  21. hi all any clues would be great? I've opened the door trim, but as far as I could see there was nothing missing... please help... thanks Satz
  22. thank you gdixon! Managed to get them off following the instructions at the link. Removing the rear end caps was by far the hardest thing. Despite reading the instructions I still broke one clip on each. cheers Satz
  23. my dealer would charge me, so I'd greatly appreciate it if someone could post the link or the instructions please.... many thanks Satz
  24. just had this same problem last week. All electricals seemed to work well, except when I tried to start the engine it just 'whirred'. It turned out to be a battery that was just below the voltage required to start the engine. Probably because the previous night I had spent 2 hours cleaning the interior, whilst listening to the radio, playing with the navigator and had the interior lights on! :)
  25. related question about the power windows. When I fully close them, I notice that they push outward a little at the bottom, then settle back in. Should they stay out, without settling back in? Or is that normal? thanks Satz
