  1. Is there a way to turn off the 'streak' cycle for the wipers. I'm having far far more problems this year with it just streaking the little bit of salt after the wiper run causing me to run them again ... resulting in yet another streak cycle causing me to run the wipers again, ad nauseum. Thanks,
  2. My wife currently has a 2005 RX330 which is her second RX, time for a new one. Narrowed down to RX & ML. Somewhat surprisingly, after several test drives it's clear the ML is much quieter and smoother than the RX. We're doing snow tests of both later today which will be interesting (couldn't be happier to see the snow this time). Biggest concern w/ the ML is Mercedes reliability history compared to Lexus. ML also doesn't have headlamp washers (very beneficial in MN) unless you get the not-avail-until-April headlight pkg. Anyone compared these two? Thoughts?
  3. My wife is considering either an Rx350 or 450h (Both 2012). We get a fair bit of snow. Are there noticeable differences in the AWD performance of these? Does the 450h handle snow as well as ICE? Any other cold weather differences between these? Thanks,
  4. I have a 2010 LX570 that took a rock a couple of weeks ago (several 15 - 20 inch spiders now). Insurance will only cover aftermarket glass so OEM will be $600 more. I'm cheap (especially after the past few days markets) so not spending the $600 is appealing. Realistically, how risky would the aftermarket be? According to the glass place it is 'identical' and is same tint, heater, etc. Concerns: - greater wind noise? - rattles or other noise? - wavyness? - pitt easier (though my wife's RX OEM looks terrible) - wipers work as well? - slightly different tint? - rain sensing work as well? Other issues I should be concerned about? Given the way my wife's RX has pitted, could after-market actually be better (or has Lexus corrected this)? Thanks,
  5. Not looking for any sympathy, just trying to get others opinions on the issue and let folks know the final outcome.
  6. Update. I polled a number of people and it was nearly unanimous that if a salesperson says ‘fully loaded’ it should mean fully loaded, as in every option. Otherwise he should say fully loaded ‘except…’. And especially when asked ‘what options does it not have?’ Called the sales guy and he said he’d get back to me. He and his mgr called later that night. Mgr agreed that I’d been misled and said that he was going to talk to sales staff about being more honest. Unlike previous Lexus sales folks and managers I’ve dealt with who were fairly professional, this guy is kind of on the pushy side. His aim was clearly to just get this behind him, not make sure his customer was happy. Said they couldn’t install the option or get a vehicle with it in any reasonable timeframe. Wanted to know what I wanted as compensation. Should have told him I’d think about it and call back, but I was tired from several hours on a plane and just said ‘how about doing the window treatment stuff your finance guy had tried to sell me earlier.’ In hindsight I probably should have gotten more compensation like first two services or something, but that’s life. Whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth. When we replace my wife’s RX330 this summer I think we’ll go elsewhere.
  7. Is the 2010 LX570 supposed to have a heated steering wheel? The website lists it for 2011, the ones I test drove had it. From what I can tell the 2010 I purchased does not. Very nice feature for us here on the tundra.
  8. Thanks all! Paul, it is the Dynamic Radar Cruise (and pre-collision system). Does anyone here have it? Is is worth it or not really very useful?
  9. Hopefully this is OK here. The dealer forum appears quite dead. I bought a new 2010 LX570 a couple of weeks ago. We'd looked at several demo & new vehicles at the dealer and none were right. Salesman called and told me that he had a 2010 that fit the bill. I stopped by and it looked good. I asked him what options it did NOT have. He said it had them all and was fully loaded. We negotiated a price and he said it'd be ready to pick up in a couple of hours. When my wife brought me by to do the paperwork and pick it up she asked the same question and received the same answer. With busy holidays and travel I didn't have time delve in to the manual much until this past weekend. Found it is missing the follow cruise control (radar), something the sales guy had shown off in a test drive a few days earlier. On the one hand I should probably have checked the features in detail to make sure it had everything, but that's a PITA. On other car purchases dealers have accurately told me what options a vehicle did not have (I usually buy fully loaded) so no problem. 100% my own fault for not checking item by item? Was I misled by the dealer? What would you do?
  10. Thank you all for the info. A good heater at the base of the windshield is probably better than just heated wipers as long as it keeps the wipers clear of ice and snow. Ended up with a new 2010. Exterior isn't really the colour I wanted, but not a big deal. After a few years away from Lexus it's, hopefully, good to be back.
  11. Considering an '09 w/ 13k and a new '11. My sales guy said that there were no differences. Then another sales guy told me that the '09 has Gen 5 Nav and '11 has Gen 6 with the only difference being telematics (Enform) which I think I have little interest in. Is anyone aware of any other differences between these two? Also, sales guy said that both have heated wiper blades, but I can't find that anywhere in Lexus documentation or site. ? Thanks,
