Wish I could help, but my knowledge is limited to just owning a few Lexuses over the years, and there are numerous problems that can lead to poor mileage. A mechanic's diagnosis should identify the issue, unless, like you suspect, the ECU/ECM has gone bad and is not giving the correct messages.
