  1. as i said on CL, find a lawyer.
  2. ok. cool. now. i need to go fnd a lowes HIW. and some cash. so yeah, go ahead and send that polish. he will have the new P/C on christmas day.
  3. ah yes, the gen I tempo, an american classic i can see why that woudl upset you, IIRC that car had an estimated 0-60 of 14.6 seconds in an auto version...damn, thats slow... on topic: its not unusual for dealers to not phoen while they have your car to let you knwo they still have it. its something not many people think about, they figure "he must know we have it, its not at his house" :D seriously, its not a custom to call unless there is another problem. although daily updates would be nice, there is no written rule that requiers them. it will be ok.
  4. Actually, I am currently in Brenham going to school...but that drive wouldn't just be a "swing-by". I do not believe the clicking has anything to do with the engine. I truly hate taking my car to a mechanic b/c I'm paranoid that they are going to tinker with something and cause me more problems. Also, being that I am a young female, I feel that they are likely to take advantage of my inexperience with cars. They see a young woman driving a Lex and think that daddy will pay for it all. Well daddy doesn't pay for ← PM me with the location. doesnt have to be exact, but if you coudl give me a reference point, im still kind of new to this state. i have no idea where Brenham TX is. probably nowhere close to here, and it woudl be at least a week before i could get out there. but for the price of gas i would gladly take a look see (if 210 miles, the gas will be $40 total, because i would need to put gas in my car before i leave here and then before i come back. chances are your CV joint(s) are probably bad. you know what, ill do you one better, ill just tell you how to check them, that way i dont have to make time to go out there (work +school=BUSY!) and you dont have to pay anything LOL. there is an EASY way to check these. get under the car and look at the inside of your wheels/rims. behind the wheel connected to a long shaft about 1 inch in diameter will be a ribbed, cone shaped boot. one on the outside by the wheel and one on the inside colose to the engine/tranny. if those rubber boots are dryrotted/tyorn/leaking grease, they need replaced. if you do decide you want to get them fixed, i know a great mechanic in dallas (garland) as do most of the members here.
  5. dude... i dont think that the engine sludge could be avoided in most cases, thats why there was a TSB, and also why LEXUS (read manufacturer) is replacing the motor with a NEW one. they are the manufacturer. they can do that. LEXUS, does not subcontract engine rebuilds. the do it with ALL lexus OEM parts. hence the only thing not replaced are the block and the head castings, everything else is new inside. Colton: i would go aheadand have them check the steering rack and pinion, all the suspension and the bushings. the front suspension and bushings are probably wearing out. my rack and pinion becgan showing signs of wear around 125K.
  6. the P0420 is a Catalytic converter deficiency, or something to that effect. more than likely the cat fried from the abnormal fuel mixture, it had to be on its way out anyway though. the code will keep recurring until you fix the problem. if the car came with a warranty, have them replace the cats. sometimes, ESPECIALLY if the tank is near empty when you do it, refilling while running the car can cause bad cats. basically it introduces extra pressure into the fuel system and floods out the motor. causing to to run with more fuel than its supposed to. this breaks down the catalytic conv. im not sur how exactly this occurs, but i have seen it happen before. so dont do it again LOL. thats gonna depend on weather or not you tell them about you filling up while the car was running (which is illegal in most states believe it or not!)
  7. i removed the top cover. i liked it off. and before you say anything, i had had it removed for over 200,000 miles. changed the Timing belts at 65,000 mile intervals since car was new. :D
  8. that is actually NOT bad. very reasonable, considering he will not need another one for 10 years... hmmm, i may be stopping at lowes with my homie LOL (comin' in from anchorage thursday). thanks for the tips. ill be lookig into this further. any idea whichpads i should get? i see there is a choice.
  9. I think you did the right thing...I believe you covered for your coworker as well, and that was honorable. However, here is my question what happens to the next coworker who is in this guys car? what if you don't say anything else, and drop it, what will happen to the next person? I guess I'm concerned that your coworker will think it is ok to light up with anyone at anytime, even if it is "his" car. Will it be wrong for your to communicate your reasons, and maybe let him know the next person won't be as considerate to cover for him? Just a thought. Overall you did the right thing. ← well, i will know wednesday if i passed the UA. as for sal, i sat him down in my office today and had a nice chat. i told him i was not going to management with it, HOWEVER...if i saw/heard of it again, i would. i told him i dont care what he does at hsi home/in his car, as long as he doesnt bring it to work and he doesnt do it on company time, its none of my business. but the minute that he involbes me, or any of my other employees by showing up for work stoned or doing it on his lunchbreak, he will be terminated, no ifs ands or buts. i said, "im not tellin you you have to quit, but i am telling you that if i hear anything else about it, or you do it arond me or any of my people, you wont like the consequences. when you bring it to work it becomes a saftey hazard, and i will not have it here, is that clear?" i think i got the point across. i was strictly professional, while being very firm.
  10. current industry standard is $975 per inch of straightening. it has to be straightened, then sanded, primed and painted to protect from elements. that was going to cost me $850 JUST to repair the front cor support, because it bent the "frame rails" in about 3/4". and thats only that price cause i knwo someone in the business. ← Don't forget to remove your cell phone before getting the work done lol. j/k B) ;) ← ahh yes, i was waiting on a call frm work. and thats my house phone...1 of 4 (big house) B)
  11. more than likely. i wish i was closer (im in DFW) i woudl swing by and take a look-see. clicking in the drivetrain can only be a handfulof things, if its not motor related (it would do it when engine rev's, even out of gear) then it is CV joints, a nail in tire or a bad wheel bearing. bearings do not normally click, but i have seen it before.
  12. ok, i look forward to receiveing the "stuff" what can i expect to pay for a P/C? around $150?
  13. thansk for the tip. i have been using it for awhile. im very careful. cool. the one that broke on my dad is OLD, probably as old as i am. i dnt htink he wants to fix it. just to by another one. where can i pick one up? Home deopt?
  14. you are probably right, i would too most likely. mine were 339.57...but they arent lex OEM. but i figured i would go back in a week if they didnt quiet down.
  15. my wagners dont sqeal, but they did for the first 500 miles or so. ever car I have ever had the breaks replace don has squealed a little for a few hundred miles. i agree lexus is different from any other car maker. they dont skimp on anything. so maybe ther is something wrong, try the lube, it couldnt hurt. but if you take apart their brake job to lube them they arent going to fix it.
  16. JPI is the best place in texas to take your lexus. he does wonders with mine and many others. Welcome to the site. the trac off light along with the CEl means the trans has entered "safe mode". take it to autozone and have the codes read. if the codes are unrelated ot O2 sensors or catalytic cconverters (most likely they are) then the dealer should cover it. the only reason they wouldnt cover it if related to cats or 02's is becauce filling up while running CAN (not usually, but once in a while) damage these components. generally it is not good practice to fill the car while it is running.
  17. yes. one direction. 2 speeds. but i need a pad. can i buy them at wal-mart? im getting my dad a new P/C withthe help of my mom's money (going half and half from both of us) what series do you reccomend? also, the WEN needs a pad that slips over, like the bonnet style. are there any applicator pads in that style? EDIT: heres pix of my WEN.
  18. every car i have had has at least for a few days. but i have always driven low end cars. i havent put brakes on the concorde yet. not saying that it happens all the time, but its not unusual
  19. the entire fuel system? i have no idea how much that woudl cost. i would count on around $1,000. the gas tank cleaning cost alot. i had a 5 speed ford contour w/ a 4 cylinder that (when stock) would kick the socks off of most stock LS's. ;) close enough? the LS is a fast car for its size, but its alot slower than most smaller cars. my contour weighed over 1500lbs less than your LS, but it was a 5 speed with about 75hp/Liter (2.0L, 140 HP.) ;)
  20. current industry standard is $975 per inch of straightening. it has to be straightened, then sanded, primed and painted to protect from elements. that was going to cost me $850 JUST to repair the front cor support, because it bent the "frame rails" in about 3/4". and thats only that price cause i knwo someone in the business.
  21. yeah, if you ever want to get rid fo those, PM me!!! lol. i can have the center caps re plated for about $10 per. (i know someone)
  22. vinegar, club soda, or BLEACH (dont use this on your wheels, bleach will kill chrome!)
  23. whoops, sorry, the other way around,i use the gold class and the 3 coats of NXT...where has my head been lately
  24. after you get it off, apply Zoop seal. thsi stuff will make it so that yolu can take an air hose and use it to dust off brake dust, save nothing for dog *BLEEP*.
  25. you have a PM. thanks alot! the swilrs arent that bad in reality. thephoto exaggerates them quite a bit. if i take a coat of NXT and then a coat of gold class, they all but dissappear for about a week. if i give 3 coats of NXT and 1 coat of gold class, they dissapear for a month or so. oh and uh...FYI, the buffer i have is a WEN 7" buffer/sander/polisher. my dads P/C broke yesterday night, on the final buffing of the charger for the season...sucks too, i was just getting ready to hit my car with it. but if that stuff can be applied via anothe rbuffer, feel free to send it.
