  1. I put JL Audio XR series speakers in my 2000. Replaced the factory nakamichi amp also underneath the drivers seat with an alpine amp. it was a world of a difference. I also put a small enclosed box with a 10" JL Audio W6v2 in the back.
  2. Which light is it? the tail light on the OUTER left side or the INNER left side? Is it on the tailgate or on the body? If its on the tailgate, open the tailgate. Then slowly, and carefully wedge a screw driver(door panel puller is the proper tool but i dont know if you have one) and start to pry off each clip that holds the carpeted panel on. Be careful as this panel is made out of freaking cardboard pretty much and the clips will rip right out if you arent careful. Once you have fully removed the whole carpeting, there are two panels inside on each side of the tailgate. Each is held on by 3 philips head screws. remove the screws and pull the panel off, revealing the bulb housing and sockets. The bulb closer to the inside of the vehicle is the one you want to replace, the one closer to you is the reverse light. OR If the bulb that is blown is on the outside, open the tailgate. Then look near the OUTER tailight housing but on the inside of the tailgate door jam, you will see two torex/flathead screws. Take those two out and then push on the tailight where it flushs up against the tailgate. Push it out...basicly at a 90* angle of the length of the car. Two little pressure clips should pop off and you can get at the bulb. The bulb you need to replace is a 7443 bulb, found at your local auto parts store, maybe even gas station. enjoy.
  3. Yep mine auto-adjust while pulling it up in reverse. You should have seen it when i adjusted my ebrake one day on my street. My neighbor was standing in his front yard as im backing down my street pulling up my E-Brake making it click. I got done and pulled in my driveway and this guy had the weirdest look on his face. So i walked over and explained what i was doing to him and he just looked at me like...what the hell? I told him dont worry about it one day you might understand...i think he is still puzzled to this day.
  4. UPDATE: im at 78k as of tonight on my 2000.
  5. yes there is chrome behind that black grille. There is also chrome behind the paint around your rear lience plate area. Was told by a friend he used grafitti remover and it came right off on his GS300. I tried it once on a spare LX grille and it came off but i never got around to doing a good job on it and just threw it out as it was a chewed up spare i had gotten from a body shop. Go ahead and try it just dont use anything abrasive that could scratch the chrome. Post pictures!
  6. I had a 2000, smokey topaz that had the same issue. Lexus offered to paint it under CPO. iIthink that color has some issues. I WAS RIGHT! damn lexus dealership back during the orginal warranty didnt want to do crap to help me. ARGH i knew the paint was bad on this truck. i took one of my emblems off the otehr week, the lexus one on the tailgate. lol underneath the emblem was pure smokey topaz perfect paint and the rest of the truck was faded...looked like ghost emblems or something. check it out
  7. take for example this, you go to Lowes/Home Depot with your ---- LX470. Your doing a little cementing this afternoon at your house so you buy 2-3 bags of quikrete. You take the heavy bags of cement powder and put them on your cart and go to the checkout. Push them outside and get to your LX. You pick up the heavy bags of cement and throw them in the trunk of your LX470. Now you get in and turn the engine on. The rear should lift back up to level hight after a few seconds. NOW you drive home and park in your driveway but leave the engine running as you want to take the cement out near the end of your super long uber rich driveway. You take them out one by one while leaving the tailgates open engine on and in park....you wouldnt want it rolling away from you now So all 3 bags of quikrete are unloaded and you shut your tailgate....*BLEEP*ssssssstt. Your back end just droped a few inchs to level back out. That was your auto hight control doing its job, leveing your car out even while the ENGINE IS ON WHILE IN PARK. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- pkingsley819, your front dropping a little once you put it in park/stopped after driving around for a while is most likely normal.....unless its dropping down onto the tires, then you got mas problemas. Either front or rear dropping/raising just a smidget after normal driving is totally normal. i jsut copyed and pasted that from my post on clublexus about another guy wondering what his truck is doing when its stop when it raises/lowers. Jim may be on to something with a sensor being off your truck gets really wacky with the height.
  8. Ive got a 2000 LX470 in smokey topaz. My hood and roof both faded out really weird and got all messed up. I had a bodyshop repaint my hood last month and he mentioned something that both the primer and clear coat were defective and caused the paint to get blotchy.
  9. 2000 LX470 here with 70,317 miles as of last night. Only major problem so far was my ignition cylinder broke last month but i was lucky that it was in my driveway.
  10. Ive got a 2000 LX with an Inake and exhaust system. I have about as much power as the 06 but it makes alot more noise then the 06. I whipped the 06 demo truck out at the dealership one night and took it for a beating. It was very enjoyable. Ied have to say the 2006 feels alot more like a Lexus and not a pretty toyota. As far as gas mileage with the VVT-i i dont know but i get about 9-11mpg....i dont drive slowly. Hope this helped
  11. Our LX is on the 3rd set of brakes/tires with 68000 miles. My mother had it for the first 26k and the tires nor brakes got worn down badly. Once i started to drive it, brakes a few months later and by the time winter came around the next year tires were in despirate need. about a year later it happened again. I wonder if my short tire/brake life has something to do with my 10mpg too. Maybe i need to get my right foot checked out. BTW, does anyone get their VSC Trac to beep at them on dry pavement taking turns or is it just me?
  12. my truck was stalling out sometimes in the cold, like it didnt want to keep an idle. I called up my service advisor at the dealership and he said, disconnect the batt. neg and let it sit for a little bit, then connect it, turn the key to the on position but dont touch anything, to allow the sensors to reset themselves. I did what he told me and it went back to normal. It started doing it in the cold after i got some work done to my system in my truck and they had to disconnect the batt. Im not sure if my solution would fix your problem too because there are alot of other factors like filters, valves blah blah blah. Look into it and tell me if you get it fixed.
  13. The Sirius Antenna is in the middle of my roof by the windshield, the tuner for it is underneath the passanger carpeting. The nav system is where our first aid kits are. the cd changer is in the back between the wheel well and the tailgate on the right side bolted to the body panel. The GPS antenna is on my dash in the corner on the right. the CD changer isnt easy to change while driving unless you have a 10 foot arm to reach back there but you dont really need it with Sat radio. The guy used the factory mount for the headunit and he cut out a peice of plastic to fill the gap. Guys at my lexus dealership love it.
  14. I recently had installed the Kenwood DDX 7015 touch screen headunit with the KNA-DV4100 Navigation system and Sirius Tuner/antenna along with a 10Disc Changer. Once i find a way to host all of my pictures i will post more. The navigation is AWSOME! the whole setup cost me $2835 installed. Its sweet i love it all and looks pretty good in terms of going with the interior
  15. A little birdy in the tree at my dealership told me the LX470 will be redesigned in 2009 or later. Small little changes here and there like they did with the bumper, tailgate, different color tinted windows and running boards are examples of the small changes. But my Dealer told me lexus isnt planning on redesigning it anytime in the IMIDIATE FUTURE. However he said its getting the i-Force variable valve timing as in the seq....toyota monster thing in the close future. As far as looks however, i dont htink they NEED to redesign our trucks they look better than more of the majority of the other SUVs.
