  1. Guys I just came accross this.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110601510802&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT This looks sexy come on. I know you guys are adamant around keeping the original look of the car byt this will make it damn sexy. The halo lights look great. I am sure though that these headlamps are not modified OEM.
  2. Thanks for taking time to respond to my questions. I appreciate your responses and am convinced on the philips ultinon as well as the HIR bulbs. I can tell you though, my Rx400h does not have any DRL feature. Its either full power or nothing. I have never seen the lights on in the daytime. I guess its a feature excluded in european models, which mine is. The full power is what I can take advantage on. I will go ahead with your recommendations and buy the HIR lights from http://www.finemotoring.com/ and I will try to source the philips ultinons on ebay for as cheap as possible. One thing though, I did notice a couple of different types of packaging/boxes the philips ultinon d2s come in. Does it matter which ones I buy? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Philips-Ultinon-6000K-pure-white-HID-xenon-D2S-globes-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem1e5e06a2b3QQitemZ130426512051QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-pcs-D2S-PHILIPS-6000K-ULTINON-GERMANY-MADE-85122WX-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4cf289cdc0QQitemZ330486631872QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  3. This post here shows the light that HIRs emit. http://www.scoobymods.com/hir-bulb-into-9005-high-t3122.html?amp; Qoute. Here's the comparison: High beam: stock: 9005, 12.8V, 65W, 1700 lumens new: HIR1, 12.8V, 65W, 2530 lumens The beam pattern will not change, but there will be considerably more light within the beam pattern. There is an application for the 9006: stock: 9006, 12.8V, 55W, 1000 lumens new: HIR2, 12.8V, 55W, 1875 lumens
  4. Thanks for the reply C. You seem to be the resident RX jedi master. I will try your methods of replacing the bulbs. I have fairly large hands and I hope I can twist, turn, chang angle etc etc as you describe. Will give it a shot tonight. As far as the bulbs are concerned. I have a cheap set of 6000k bulbs I got ebay for £17. I think all 6000k should function the same and the same colour tint and output so I am wondering how you could justify spending over $150 on a pair of philips D2S bulbs. Have you tried any cheap ones? What do you mean by DRL and why is it 1/2 voltage in DRL state? What is the rainbow effect? I am still stuck on the high beams. I looked into HIR bulbs. THey seem to be fairly new technology and not very widely used/known/sold. I did however come accross PIAA bulbs 9005 60watts. They seem to emit 4100k light. Isnt that at par with HIDs? Osram and Philips do some of these as well. They claim that the bulbs produce as much light as HIDs at a quarter of the cost. Are these the aftermarket bulbs you were referring to? Also, I can see you have done headlight mods. Have you tried angel eyes? Did you do projector beams on your RX400? I could only see the projector lights on the rx300 in your threads.
  5. I cant for the life of me figure out how to change the headlight bulbs on my rx400h. I have bought a couple of D2S bulbs that I want to change. I think the stock ones are 4300k colour temperature. I just boughts 6000k ones from ebay that I want to install. I also wanted to get the high beam ones changed as well so its a similar color to my 6000k D2S bulbs. Any ideas on what I should get for the high beams to be the same colour? What I do want to find out is how to change the bulbs. There is hardly enough room to slide my hand in to take out the connections. I dont know which connections to take out either. Anyone have a step by step guide pleasE? The manual says to take it to Lexus and they will do it for you. I aint paying their stupid prices. A pictorial step by step would help as well. Many thanks.
  6. Hey C Do you have a step by step on these? Which bulbs did you purchase. Were they white LEDs with a blue plastic cover for the effect in the centre console or was it blue LEDs altogether? I have blue lights in the centre console already but not sure if they are LEDs. I have an 05 rx400. I would love to see how you did the panels and which bulbs you used there. Cheers.
  7. Ok My bad, I dont know what happened here. The site seems to be very slow and I though it wasnt letting me post anything which resulted in 6 same threads and titles. Admins, would you do the honours please?

  9. This is most annoying. I have been searching the web for over a month and I have not been able to find a single website that makes or sells custom subwoofer boxes for the trunk of an RX 300,330,350,400h I mean, its a pretty popular car isnt it? I am sure there are hundreds of people like me who want to retain as much cabin space as possible and have a great sounding sub woofer as well? I could find custon built boxes for LS and GS models but nothing for RX. Not even a picture of a DIY job. I have seen DIY jobs, but none of them space saving or practical where you dont have your speakers hiding under the trunk base (thats just out of order, how will you ever be able to pull good base from speakers under an inch of wood? Are there any custom made solutions I can take advantage of? has ayone had this done or bought a Is a kick panel the same thing as a custom space saving subwoofer enclosure? I dont want to resort to an aftermarket space saving sub, the reviews are terrible and I would ideally like to get something that sounds and looks great in the trunk compromising as little space as possible. HELP!

  11. Sorry, I dont think you read fully. I DONT have an OEM sat nav in my RX. My version of the rx400h is non nav, non amp. I have a clean slate really. I want to install an all in one kenwood system with sat nav, rear cam, bluetooth, mp3 etc. I have even found the product that will make the steering wheel volume and track buttons to work with the kenwood aftermarket system. I managed to find a few things on google. The only issue that now remains is to retain the function of the DISP button on the steering because that is an essential button. I have read in a few places that if you install an aftermarket radio, you lose the DISP button altogether. I need that as mine is a hybrid. Thanks.
  12. Atebit I have been trying to reach you about this same issue I am facing with my non nav 05 RX400h. I want to retain the display function of the steering wheel and also the volume and track controls. There are products now that will deal with the volume and track controls from a US company called Scoshe but I havent come accross any solutions for the DISP button apart from another of your threads on tundra solutions. http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/audio-and-stereo/62516-wiring-diagrams-06-lexus-rx400h-audio/ I am unable to view the wiring diagrams from that thread and I was hoping you could help me by telling me exactly how to get that button to work. I have not yet bought any other kit and have not begun this project, I want to get all the information upfront before I commit. I am going to install a kenwood sat nav system double din etc. I know this is about 4 years old now and you have moved on from this now, but I am still hoping you can help me with this. I have sent you a PM on both the forums and left messages on these threads as well. If you get my message, please email me on tekno_ali@hotmail.com Many thanks.
  13. I am looking for wiring diagrams for my rx400h 2005 without the sat nav and amp model. I need it for the steering and audio wiring. Would you please email them to me at tekno_ali@hotmail.com? Thanks.
  14. I am looking to upgrade the stock Lexus radio, CD, Cassette player with an aftermarket double din player. Looking at JVC, Pioneer and Kenwood right now with built in sat nav, bluetooth etc. I want the head units to work with the lexus steering wheel controls but have difficulty finding a device or patch through that will make this possible. Has anyone had this done recently? Any advice? BTW, I have an 2005 RX400h. The one that does not have a Sat nav, reverse camera or bluetooth option, hence the reason for going for an aftermarket all in one soution. I am going to buy this facia to get the double din fitted. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360246911625&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Thanks.
