Hello. I have a LS 400 1990. Recently, the break fluid is leaking badly. I found out the leak was coming from the trac actuator pump. I took the pump out and found out that the 2 O rings was bad and cause the leak. I took them to all the local parts stores but could not match them. They all either bigger or thinner. I went to the Lexus dealer to buy but they said dealer do not sell the O rings separately. I have to buy the whole unit that cost over 2000$. I felt that Lexus is very ripped off!!! Do you know any way to fix this problem or some place that I can buy the O rings to repalace them. Much thank you!

I have paid 337$ every 6 months for basic liability only. I live in Hawaii and the cost of living here is so high. Gasoline cost 2.25 per gallon for 92.

Hello I have exactly the same problem and dealer also recommend the same thing. I decided not to fix because atleast in Hawaii I don't think we really need the traction control because the weather. However, I notice that from the begining, if I step hard on the accelarator. The trac light does not come on like if I take it easy when driving. Reason why I really do not know. You can try like that to see how your car react. Let us know if you ever find the solution. Good luck.

Still lucky for you all. I live in Hawaii, my 90 LS400 get full tank for average 300 mile. It means about 13 - 14 miles per galon either on free way or city because roads here are so short in crowed. We pay $2.15/galon. Just wonder after the Iraq war, why oil company still have reason to keep jacking up the price instead of dropping it? Happy day you all.

Thanks skperformance. I was thinking the same and try to take the switch out to inspect to see if there is any loose contact. But I could not pull out the switch. Do you know how? Do you think the switch itself goes bad and need to be replaced? Thanks again.

Thanks you all for the tip. I will replace air struts to normal shocks. Still yet I think Lexus should have to do somethings about this if we all write a complain to tnem. I have just change my front and rear air struts less than 2 years. Now its front is leaking again. What a rip off. Thanks again.

Hello all. My 90 LS 400 has a problem. The out side rear mirrow just quit working this week. I did check the fuses and all of them were good. Does anyone know what cause the mirrows on both sides stop working? Thanks.

lexusman91ls400 I have the same problem and still yet not figure out how to fix it. Dealer recommended to replace the accumulator for 750$ part itself. The trac light still come on even when I turn off the traction control switch. This means my traction accumulator still work which does not need to be replaced like dealer sugested I guess! And probably it just some sensor does not work caused this but I still not yet find out which one. If you get your problem fix please let me know. Thanks. P.S... did you try to turn off the traction control switch to see if the trac light still come on or not? Also try to go to batauto.com to learn how to retrieve the code. There could be one of the sensor malfuntion disable the trac control.

skperformance Thanks for the advice. abs light does not come out and I try to check accumulator line, they are OK. One thing I noticed that I thought if I turn off the trac control then trac light won't come on, but it still does. I do not understand why!

Hi 1990LS400 Thanks for your advice. I will replace the throtle sensor. Do you know how much does it cost? Can we do it by ourself and where is it located at? I never get my ca over 3000 RPM. But I notice that driving down hill my car sometimes accelerated itselt when I release my foot from the gas pedal. I will call the dealer to find out how much to replace this. Thanks again.

You should try ebay, they got some after market keyless for LS 400. Email ask the sell ler before you bid.

Hi Chuck. I went try again for my car yesterday. The trac light came on again even I did turn of the traction control switch and then turn on a gain like I told you. This way was not solve the problen! I then tried to turn of the traction control switch and did not turn it on. Guess what? The trac light still came on even I did turn off the trac off switch. It means there was not thing wrong with my traction control accumulator like the dealer suggest to replace it for 750$. I hope my guess is right. I think one of the bad sensor cause this problem. Maybe the oxygen sensor. because I noticed that if I drive the car easy and slow, it won't happen, but when I push the gas pedal or go up hill then it will happen. I was thinking of try to test the car and read the code like someone suggest to use the site: http://www.batauto.com I hope it was just an oxygen sensor. Maybe you should also try that test to read the code. Let me know. Thanks.

I have the same problem, except it is not on at 2-3 miles. Only about 50 miles. I have been asking twice but seem like no one know how to fix the problem. The dealer recommended to change the traction control accumulator and charge 750$ just for the part. I tried couple times by turn off the traction for about 5 min and turn it back on, the light does not come on til I got home. I hope that it will fix the problem that way, but still yet I only try 2 times. I know how it fill when that orange light come on. Let me know too if you find the way to fix this problem. Please help!!! I am new and having a problem that need your help. My 1990 LS400 trac light goes on when ever I get on freeway about 50 miles up. I will go off when I turn off the engine, but goes on again when I drove on freeway. It stay off when I drive inside city. I some one know how to fix or feagure this out please help. Hello S' Low Rider! Thanks for the advise! And sorry to get back a litle late because I had been out of town for cople of days. I had change all brand new 2 front and 2 rear in 1999. Four months ago I noticed the front drop down again and that scare me. You know how much it sost for one. I hope it just the air line or sensor like you said. Do you know how to detect the error or leak? Where is the sensor at and how to get the code. I don't want to bring back to dealer because they told me to change again, even though I have told them It just has been change about 4 years ago. All they told me was that it has been quite awhile since I changed it. I wonder why Lexus could build a good car like this but put them on a so bad air suspension. Just my own thought! Thanks again.
