  1. Racehorse593 It may be the control unit. Mine goes out every now and then. Before going and buying a new one, or used. If you are a do-it-yourselfer, take it out and clean it real good. Even spray wd40 down in it and get it all clean. Check all the contacts and make sure they are making contact and are not gunked up. Mine work much better, still have a few skips every now and then but I am going on 3 years of milking it along. Much better than spending the money, they are not cheap. Good luck.
  2. 2001 RX 300 Help, my second Temp Servo has gone out and I need to replace it. Last time it cost me over $400.00 to have a shop do it. I went on line and found the part and saved about $30.00. Now I need to find out how hard is it to take the Glove Box off. The video looks to be simple to replace the servo but it does not show from start to finish. Anyone done this and how hard am I talking to remove the glovebox so I can get to the Servo. Thanks.
  3. JSD, I had the same problem 3 years ago. All three lights would come on and eventually go off. The Lexus Dealer said it was the gas cap. The previous owners, a relative, did all the maint on the vehicle but Lexus still could not figure out why the lights came on. The one thing I noticed is my gas mileage suffered cause it was not running at optimum when they were on. Finally, I went to AutoZone and they read the codes for me. Oxygen sensors, up-stream, both of them. I checked around and most places wanted between $300.00 and $450.00 to do them both. If you are handy at all, you can spend $11.00 for the socket, or rent it from Auto Zone, and do it yourself. I ordered the sensors off the internet and saved about $100.00, put it up on ramps and in 45 minutes the lights were off and have yet to come back on. Vehicle has averaged out now at 19 mpg city. I would say the only other thing I did was let it cool and spray some penetrating oil the night before to help loosen them. That is my experience on those crazy three lights.
  4. I have an 01 RX that will go down like a dream, however, it will not go up. If you go down a little, not auto, then try to switch it up it will go down a little at a time. Then try up again, goes down a little again. It does this until it finally reaches the bottem. It will not go back up immediately. I have to wait a while then it will finally go back up. I do hear it making a slight "click". I took the assembly apart and cleaned it, did not spray into the pins though. Do you think this is the switch, motor or relay. The people we bought it from 3 years ago said it had always had some window issues but I think that was mainly track and the fact it was really loud. I will do the work myself, just need to figure out what to clean, fix or replace. Thanks
  5. Hey, I have an 01 RX and the antenna broke off with only about 6 inches left in the shaft. The motor runs when I start the motor and turn it off so I think the motor is still fine. If I take off that top piece and remove the rest of the shaft, can I just replace the antenna and will it rethread itself on the motor? I am 100% sure the entire threading of plastic came out and there is none still in the motor. I really don't want to have to dig into the car to get to the motor. Please help.
