  1. I'll get some more information on that for you. I spent around $300 for the install and keys for my car, and just stopped bleeding from that. I believe the main computer in is the truck near the amplifier, but since the signal is coming from the main bay, if could be there where I would start.
  2. A lexus dealer and I have tried out the wood/Leather steering wheel of the new cars, but no luck. If you are willing to spend a little money, there is a place where I have my wood Vaneer done through who also work with Wood/Leather Steering wheels. The are a custom shop and expect to pay around $800 to 1k, but they do an excellent job with it. All that you have to find is a Wrecked LS and take the steering wheel off without blowing the airbag. They can cut the top leather and the bottom leather, and fill it with wood and vaneer. I haven't done the steering wheel on my car yet, but I plan to do it on both of my cars in the near future.
  3. Mat: I'll email you a Word 2k file as soon as I am done with. I'm going to avoid sending email addresses, but will include links to the specific dealer's Website. Please update your email address on the Forum, just in case it's not. Thanks
  4. For the Shifter, you have a few options, but you might not like them. I would suggest you visit Nopi.com or your local Speed shop and they should be able to find you something. Nothing in wood though unless you want to customize. I wanted to swap my shifter with one that follows the wood trim decorum, but they stopped making the only model. If you're interested inadding woodtrim look to your shifter, there is someone who can do it. Email me with the notice: Wood Trim Option Reference in the subject , otherwise I might just delete it. Your lights in the Climate control and Radio can be swapped out with something else. Check this link for a aftermarket company that can work on the Climate COntrol system. For the Radio, if you have the Pioneer system, look up United Radio, in Syracuse, NY. They will rebuid it with the new light in them, I think. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/viewt...wtopic.php?t=83 for the speakers, i believe they are the stock one which might be Pioneer. look through your manual or if you can buy the service manual from toyota. try this out.
  5. I could add a few in the Washington DC Metro Area and a few more. If you're just interested in getting basic information for the Forum, you could visit http://www.lexus.com or however you look for a site in the US. There is a link to find a Dealer near you, which goes by State. ------------------------------- Upstate New York: Dealership Name: New Country Lexus Area: Albany/Schenectady/Troy (State Capitol Area) Address: New Country Lexus of Latham 999 New Loudon Road Latham, NY 12110 Email: cindym@newcountry.com Phone Number: 518-786-1000 Here is a link to the rest of them in New York State and the city. http://lexus.com/lexus/LoadStateSearchResults ----------------------------------- Washington DC Metro Area: Lexus of Rockville 15501 Frederick Road Rockville, MD 20855 (301) 762-9009 Main: internet.sales@rockvillelexus.com Lexus of Silver Spring 2505 Prosperity Terrace Silver Spring, MD 20904 (301) 680-0400 Main: lexusofss@users.ccleads.com Lindsay Lexus of Alexandria 3410 King Street Alexandria, VA 22302 (703) 931-3000 Main: sales@lindsaylexus.com Pohanka Lexus of Chantilly 13909 Lee Jackson Highway Chantilly, VA 20151 (703) 968-9100 Main: pohanka@pohankalexus.net ------------------------------------------------ A dealer I had trouble with in Houston, TX Sterling McCall Lexus 10422 Southwest Fwy. 6. If the keyless entry on the stock system doesn't work, that won't cause the factory alarm to randomly turn on. If you really have an aftermarket alarm on the car, that should be the culprit. When the alarm goes off, see whether if it's your headlights and horn only. If it's anything else, then you'll know that the after market alarm is the trouble. For the aftermarket alarm, generally you'll find an additional wire on the postive side of the battery. Just disconnect it and the alarm should stop. If it's the factory alarm, you might want to consider either disconnecting it permanently, or take it to Lexus and getting the entire alarm system replaced. They generally cost $300 to $500, but since you actually have a key with the door unlock/lock on it. Comes in handy.
  7. Woolif I think you should see what shape your tires are in. If they're still new with a lot of tred, I would say keep them and wear them out. I would also recommend calling the 800 number from Lexus.com and asking them to send you another owners manual. Also, ask them to update their database with your new ownership info. Very helpful. Lexozz: I need to ask how you attached the Copper wire to the brake sensor and soddered it? Could you give us some more info on how it was done correctly? thanks
  8. did you buy it new or was it already on the car?
  9. Curious: TEMs is an aftermarket product. I don't think it was put on the 90 LS400s. But don't take my word for it. I did see it on an 89 and 90 Supra. I don't believe I have it on my LS, but I can't tell. Since it's supposed to be an Aftermarket controller, you should be able to switch it back to a regular shock and spring config, but check it out first. As for cheap, I would search at the junk yards and see what you can salvage.
  10. It sounds like either a connection to the backrest is disabled or the motor to both of them might be out. I am not aware of any manual solutions to adjust them, but your car might have a different setup compared to the ones sold in the states. A speed-shop might be able to tell you in more details whether thats plausable. Sorry I couldn't help
  11. Does anyone know whether toyota has made any brake pressure monitoring gauges?
  12. Retirees, does that word work better. Not to be synical about it, but unfortuantely, not a single Japanese Luxury car has survived my torture test, but for some odd reason, when my dad drove this LS400, it survived 125000 miles without any repairs. Off course my dad and I have different driving skills. I drive F2k and F3k cars, my dad doesn't. Even the two Lexus dealers i do business with agreed with me on this. They say the Lexus LS400 is a "solid car, built like a tank", but that didn't work in my case. Car started giving me problems once I took it over. Ever notice how loose the steering wheel is. Do you thing some 20 year old would appreciate it? I know I don't, and since I've been driving the car i've never been pulled over, and frequently felt like using the Cruise control. I disconnected the CC on my G20 because I never used it and I needed the slot. What kind of trouble do I have---Hummmmm Shocks needed to be replaced, radio needed to be replaced, one of my cv joints needs to be replaced, brakes need to be replaced because the stock ones suck really badly. All sorts of electronical problems are showing up out of no where. Oil Pan gasket needs to be replaced, and my steering wheel is misaligned. I noticed a leak underneath. The only part that hasn't given me any problems is the Engine and the transmission. Oh yah, have you ever felt how nimble the car is in high speed turns. Braces need to be added.
  13. I would say, check the other brake pads, and rotors, to see if they are to blame. If that doesn't do the job, you might have to visit the local Toyota Dealer. Sorry. I know on my car the brake lights are still on after I changed the pads, and later I found out my rear rotors are running thin less than .25. on a side note I highly recommend checking underneath your car to see if there are any leaks from anything else. Good thing to know and good for preventative maintenance.
  14. I bought one from Lexus/Toyota for $150 US. Good thing to have around, since Lexus cars were designed with Old drivers in mind. I know I'm having trouble with mine.
  15. you shouldn't have any problems once you reconnect the main wires back to the new one. You're radio can never die, since an antenna is just a signal booster. Since you're afraid, I would recommend you getting the Antenna unit from Lexus or Toyota. There should be some directions on how to change the units too. If not talk to a service guy and ask him how they would do it. They should give you the information. If you live in the Washington DC area, send me an email at nabilahmed02a@netscape.net
  16. andronak What is your expected price value for the repair manual?
  17. I remember when I was in Ottowa. This same thing happened to me, where the ions in the gauge cluster would dim down so much it would be hard to see it compared to warm conditions. The temperature was below freezing point. This might be the same scenerio, I'm guessing, and I don't think changing the gauge cluster would do much. You might have to stay with that problem since it's temporary.
  18. Does the Speedo Cluster recharge itself after the car has been running for a while and is the temperature cold outside?
  19. I have Tokico's. I haven't heard of anything good about KYB, but that's based upon low number of feedback sources. I have H&Rs on my car, which made the cars suspensions harder. There is another set available out there. I don't remember the name. They're supposed to be softer like the stock springs on the LS400. Is the sway is there after you replaced your shocks with Kybs?
  20. Do they work on CFC-Free Refriginates AC too or just the ones with Carbons?
  21. I can't be sure what could be causing it, but it kind of sounds like the pole has come loose. This is where the Mast's claw or chain has come loose or not gripping anymore. There are a few options I would recommend. Both involve replacing the antenna's mount mast. SOmeone I know once broke his antenna while entering his garage. He replaced his antenna with a flexable/fixed mount antenna he bought from Radio Shack. The other option is buying the Mast from Lexus and installing it yourself. Cheaper. You can check what's going on with your antenna, by removing the carpet/inner lining in the trunk. The Antenna mast is exposed on the 94's, and that would be a good place to start. I hope this helps with your troubleshooting.
  22. I know the K&N filter is available. I saw it on an SC400, whose engine is the same as the LS400. No exhaust won't add extra horsepower to the stock engine because they're isn't a need for it yet. I would add it if you are willing to get the supercharger or a turbo like this guy at the link below. Unfortunately, his car is illegal because he lacks a catback. He's using a Magnaflow without the catback, but his exhaust sounds very deep throuty. It might not be the sound you're looking for. http://www.lextreme.com/Video.htm I don't think you'll find any bolt-ons because Toyota markets this car as a luxury car, and the ones from japan won't do us any good. You will most likely have to customize the exhaust with a barrel or chamber design. Since my car has 172000 miles on the ODi, my biggest upgrade will happen when the engine is ready to be changed, and I'm hoping to get a 4.3 from the GS430, add a turbo or supercharger, and change the exhaust and chip to support the upgrades. Since you have a stang, and I'm not sure whether you're interested in getting performance parts for it, I would highly recommend finding out technical specs on what kind of catback they are using to work with turbos or superchargers. This way, we might be able to find a manufacturer of catback exhausts who are willing to work on a catback for our cars. I hope this helps to some degree.

  24. there are some options you could try. I'm looking into this too. 1) try putting a K&N filter on the car 2) get a 2.5-3.0 inch exhaust pipe. Check regulations in your state. 3) finally, there is a chance you could add a supercharger, but nobody has experimented with the LS400. The issue that one might have with the supercharger is whether it will clear the hood. Someone has put a supercharger on an SC400, which is the exact same engine as the LS These are some of the things I am going to be tinkering with once my brake kit is done.
  25. Have you tried disconnecting the battery, and seeing whether it goes off?
