  1. I would recommend taking the wheels off and taking the skit guard out too. You can reach the side makers easily. The high beams are harder, and yes you have to take of the bumper.
  2. You shouldn't expect to many problems with the 92. Since 92 was not the first year for the Soarer(Japan) SC300(US/Aus), there shouldn't be any major problems with the car, only the previous owner.
  3. The SC handles curves like it's on a BMW. Excellent. If you have performance mods, you can tweek a few areas, otherwise the car is solid and handles like it was mean't to be handled.
  4. The 90-97 model years, the only difference is only the cosmetic styling changes, tail lights and headlights. I believe that should be it.
  5. It took me a long while to find a Wht/Blk SC300 5speed. The only one I found was kind of far away, and was a northern climate car. The guy was asking $7k for his 92. I remember seeing a blk/blk in SouCali, for $7k, but it's been three months. I also waited a while. Auto trader worked for me. By the way, since you're interested in getting a 94-97 SC5sp expect to get a high mileage car. They're not cheap.
  6. It must be writrten somewhere. But if it isn't I still don't understand the merit here. LEXUS is obligated to fulfill its 48 month warranty. I see no other obligation for an extended one. Furthermore, doesn't one still have other Options? There are many "Good" Warranty companies that will extend the warranty as long as the original 48K mi warranty doesn't lapse. Not trying to be difficult, just trying to understand the case's merit. I'm having the same problem understanding the merit behind the suit myself. Lexus isn't exactly obligated to extend their warranty beyond the 48month limit. The extended warranty is a marketing strategy a North American automobile association came up with. I remember hearing about it back in 98 with my Infiniti. Except the dealer didn't try to push it down my throat, or tell me that I have to have it before the factory warranty expires. Personally, $2k for a warranty that may or may not cover some items, doesn't sound like it's worth it. Does anyone know what is covered with this extended warranty, since I've never used it before?
  7. I'd recommend a silver-black tint. Since your car is silver, it might be kind of interesting to look at. I will warn you, if you put tint on your up/down windows, the motor will be under extra pressure to lift the glass up. The tint tends to resist. By the way, I would recommend staying legal, so you might want to check that out. I'd say, go for it.
  8. Has it cleaned up a little or is it still dull like it was before? If it is, try switching to Mothers or Meguire plastic polish. Of course you'll be doing rubbing it for a while. By the way, the yellow and dullness of the lense is due to a leak, so when you reseal it, do it throughly. Have fun with it.
  9. Glad to hear everything is working fine.
  10. Lexus HQ didn't charge me for my Owners manual. I'm not sure why they charged for something that came standard with the car. I told HQ that when I bought the car, it didn't come with one, and within a few weeks, it was here. I know LExus's 800 Number is not linked with the Dealer system. HQ doesn't cooperate with the dealers. They wanted any compliants against the dealership to remain confidential, I think.
  11. HoodLexusSC: Okay, now you're scarying me. I don't live in Jersey. I live in the DC Metro area if you're willing to come down here!
  12. Owners manual, No. They will probably ask you a few dozen questions, and they will also ask you fill out the change of ownership card in the back. That's it. The Service Manual is usually charged. It's because the service manual is more detailed, than the owners manual. The owner manual is what you get from the manufacturer when you buy the car, just in case there are any confusions.
  13. what's the word with your power seats? Find anything? <_<
  14. Hey AWJ: I think he's looking for the owners manual not the service manual. Owners manuals are free from Lexus. :)
  15. I saw them running at $2k. My source must be adding a profit margin. I think I'll still get the Do-luck Kit. For $2500, i can get the full body kit. AWJ, didn't you get a new front clip when you added the turbo to your SC?
  16. same here. Were you able to turn the key all the way before, or were you stuck on "zero turn"? Sorry about attempting to push the issue but we are intrigued by the flashing.
  17. Prestone anti-freeze is excellent. I have it in my car and so far so good. The manual is recommending a non-alcoholic Ethylene-glycol based coolant. I believe that is the red stuff skperformance was recommending. I would recommend using that for the time being. I hope that helps.
  18. curious, is there an aftermarket alarm on this LS400? The light shouldn't flash, and it should definitely beep. Check the battery and the alternator. Then check the fuse box in the engine bay. If one of them is burned out, replace them. Please reply back to this post. I'm interested.
  19. hey, that's one of the bodykits I was thinking of getting, but too expensive. :)
  20. LOL. somebody had way too much time on thier hands. Now if it was a wide bodykit, then i'd get one. ;)
  21. HoodLexusSC: Try switching the Auto button on, reprogram the seat memory, and see if that does the trick. If not, try visiting the Lexus Dealer, and get a full electronic diagnostic. I can help you with the parts if needed. Private Message me or post a reply to this post.
  22. I'm guessing it's a chip issue. You might need to replace the chip. Let me know if you need a chip.
  23. Welcome to the club, Manolo. The sign that looks like a palace or radiator look is the sign for low amount of coolant. You might want to check out how dirty or how low the coolant is in your car. You might want to do that as soon as possible since summer isn't that far away. Also, you should call lexus 800-255-3987 prompt #4, and let them know you've just purchased the car. Ask them to send you a copy of the owners manual. They're probably going to ask you to provide change in title information. You really don't have to.
  24. I believe someone else wanted to know if the timing belt might be an issue, and you mentioned it was replaced. I'm kind of curious why changing the oil caused your car to sound better. I've never heard that just changing the oil caused a car to quiet down. It sounds a little fishy to me. It's raising some red flags that there maybe something else that might cause the engine to quiet down. If everything is okay, just ignor us.
  25. phatmonkey: A little confused. Are you referring to the "Modified 6spd shifter assembly" or are you referring to something else? If that's the case, I believe if you try to shift out the Auto or even the 5speed on the SC300, you have to modify some of the pipes and a couple of angled descents towards the limited slip rear diffential. You also mentioned, "This is a question I'm highly interested in hearing an answer to as well! Powerhouse says the conversion FROM THEM is only available for 5spds. I e-mailed concerning the reasoning for this, but they didn't respond. I would love a final answer as to if the swap can be done on autos (obviously anything is possible, but is it feasible?)" GOOD TOPIC. I believe the Auto is possible. I know the 99 Japanese GTE Supras came with a 5speed AUTO, so why couldn't this one.
