  1. It almost sounds like the ABS sensor is sending messages it shouldn't. Curious, is the brake pedal moving up and down too?
  2. I've heard of that too, but they only last as long as you want them to(based upon driving habits)
  3. I think slowing down would definitely help, otherwise an aquatread tire would be better off.
  4. It sounds more like the cluch cable. I have the same problem with my SC. My mechanic said I don't have to worry about it, but eventually you might want to replace that cable. It's caused by extreme heat and the cable is dry. You can dress it from underneath the car, and that should take care of the problem. It could still be the cylinder too. Try dressing it first.
  5. So Matt, who's the girl? :)
  6. It sounds more like a sensor has gone bad. I was thinking about the power, but SC400 Tuner mentioned the backlight was on. Since they share the same cable, I'm thinking it's either a sensor that needs to be replaced, or like AWJ mentioned the climate control sensor or wire isn't getting power. kevinph99, could you give us some more details like what's working, and what isn't? Thanks
  7. 15-20hp from the ECU chip sounds about right, but for an actual ECu chip you're definitely paying $1200. Toyota hasn't released any chip specifications on the Supra or any other toyota. I don't think so.
  8. Actually, we can't say anything. We don't have your car infront of us. Are the rest of your electronic instuments working, radio, dash, pw, lights and so on? I think it's the battery relay, but it could very well be an alternator problem or something else. There is something my friend did with my SC when i disconnected my HID relays. He hit the bottom part of the block--on the left side of the car. I think he called it "rocking" the block. Try hitting the bottom part of the block, just above the Pan with a stick end of a broom stick. It may do the trick. Don't forget to check those relays and tighten the screws. If that doesn't work, you might need to tow it to Lexus. good luck.
  9. Toyota recommends you tow one of their cars at 55mph(Auto) with a max of 65mph(Man). If you can get the get the clearance level taken care off in any direction, I really can't see any reason why not. The removal of the drive shaft would be the best choice if you know how too. Personally if I was going to tow, I would get the four wheel dolly instead of the the two wheel kind.
  10. I would also try cleaning the power supply and the relays. My experience with the clicking noise was, the connection to the battery wasn't connected throughly. Are you having any problems turning the engine?
  11. I'm experiencing the same from my SC cooling down. I wonder if it has anything to do with age of the Cat? Anybody own their SC's when it was brand new?
  12. They shouldn't have any major improvements. I just changed my spark plugs with Denso Iridiumtoo, and the funny thing is Toyota has been using denso branded wires and plugs for the past 15 years. From what I've read, Iriduim only help with ignition timing on high torque(400+) cars and trucks. Chances are we won't see much improvement with our cars, but it won't hurt having them in.
  13. I wouldn't recommend bolting on a supercharger by yourself, unless you're qualified mechanic. I would also recommend having it dyno'd once you've gone this route. I know of a couple of people who've received Supercharger Kits from New Zealand. Unfortunately, when I asked Jackson Racing about a posible Supercharger for my LS. They weren't very interested last year. You might want to check with some of the kit making companies about this. Let us know if someone can. Good luck.
  14. Well, you're going to have to cut the painted body frame to make that K&N functional. Otherwise, it will be sucking in hot air. I would recommend cutting through the frame, and asking Rayco or a pipe bending company to take that intake near the chassis. If you don't do that, you'll only gain 1.25HP. Won't do anything you want it to.
  15. Something I learned about a few months ago. The traction control system works on the principles of ABS. Are you experiencing any ABS sensor problems also? If you aren't, then I would recommend taking the car to Toyota and ask them to run a diagnostic computer. If nothing shows up, don't worry about it until something really fails.
  16. From what I've been hearing, the Fuba won't do anything. It's like a showpiece--not functional at all. I'm surprised to hear that the connection to the stock antenna didn't work. There should be a connector designed to fit the stock antenna wire. If there isn't, you might have to make one. Sorry I couldn't help any further.
  17. To be honest with you, the greatest mechanic in the SoCal area would be YOU!. Not some other mechanic. I would recommend gettting a repair manual for the car, and take a look at what you want to do. Most of the repairs can be done in your driveway. It's a matter of patience. We can also guide you through any major problems you might have.
  18. Welcome to the club. As far as I know, not States-side. Japan has plenty. What are you looking for?
  19. <_< I'm not particularly a fan of the AB Flug. Non-functional wing. I love to Do-luck, but wouldn't mind a Skyline Style wing. I do like the Veilside Front clip. :magic:
  20. So far, I've gone 16.4 on the 1/4mile, and that's my best time after 4 tries. This is with stock engine and no mods. Both the SC and the prelude can compete with eachother. A friend of mine says the Prelude can beat the SC on the road course-after modifications. I still have my doubts, since the SC can be balanced to 57/43. I still would recommend the SC because the SC feels really nice with more stock toys. You may never go back to the Prelude. I hope you switch. :)
  21. Unfortunately, we're limited to the Type of rims to buy for our cars. Try the Tirerack or our wheel guide chart for more info.
  22. Try using a muilti meter and test the wires connected to the seat. If one of them is burned one, you'll have to replace the entire cable unit. See if you can isolate the problem. I can get you a cheaper price on the replacement parts.
  23. Has anyone tried changing their oil pan gasket without dropping the cross bar?
