Hey Guys: Are you adding this fuel to your current cars? From what I've read, the Federal Reformulated Fuel is using a totally different fuel. You don't want to put that in your car. It's designed for EFL vehicles like fleet Fords and GMs and one Mercedes. It's using corn oil or natural gas with 5% petrolium. if you look closely to the map, you'll notice the states listed are corn growing states. MotorWeek did a special on this. Please don't add this fuel to your current LEx or Toyota, unless it's an EFL car.

smccay: i'd also like to welcome you to the club. If you're looking for the performance Specs, they're listed on the Pinned catagory on the top SC300/400/430 forum, titled Performance Specs. My colleague AWJ was gracious enough to list that. Unfortunately I can't seem to find my SC300-400 Broucher anywhere. Are you looking for anything in particular? The SC400 is an excellent car to drive and own. No, the car isn't rare. there are plenty of SC300s and 400s out there, mostly in the 1000s. 10,000s worldwide I'm guessing. The car can be expensive to maintain if you don't know where to look, but this forum will give you some excellent tips on where to find things and how to fix them. Before you buy, have the car checked out by Lexus. Most of their techs are good enough to ID some basic and advanced faults with the car at a glance. They charged me $175, a bit more in some other states, but it's worth the time and money.

I'm guessing, but if the system in locked up, there is metal debris in the compressor. As for the compressor price, i might be able to get it a little cheaper, but I won't be able to find out until Monday. Private Message me this weekend if you're interested.

I'm only recommending 10W-30 if you're not willing to pay for the extra cost. I use Mobil 1 5W-30, because it helps prevent engine damages and lasts longer. Synthetic is formulated to quote cylinder walls and add more lubrication to moving parts according to my sponsors (Mobil Engineering team, Sonoma, CA). I'm guessing the Restore won't be needed. I would say, go with the mobil 1 5W-30 and see if the smoke stops, providing it's black smoke and not white.

most lexus i have seen don't have low quality paint jobs and do you mean 2000 psi ? i think my water tap has more than 20 and i think you need to investiagte rubbing compound before you recommend anyone to use it wax does not replace paint or clear coat which you would have just removed by using the compound unless you are mixing up rubbing compounds name with another product like a polishing compound which is very different Sorry, I meant 2000PSI. I'm quite sure about the rubbing compound, but if you feel I'm wrong, then, ok.

tansupplyman: Welcome to the club. I know I haven't, since I'm not sure what you mean by systems cleaner. By the way, what is BG44K? kisik: Most of us buy products from Pep Boys, NAPA and so on. There's really nothing wrong with them. I won't buy brakes from them, but other stuff I would and most of us would agree with me. Diana: The fuel injection cleaners work, and so do most of the others listed above. they have to do something or else they wouldn't be sold, and NTSB and other federal agencies would have stopped them from being sold.

I know 20Psi does weaken/break-up the paint on some low quality paint jobs. As far as I know, Rubbing compound will remove any debris from the body and paint. Once you do the rubbing compound, one has to seal and wax the spot again, anyway.

Do you know how much Lexus is charging for the part?

92sexylex: Welcome to the club. Have you checked out the fan to see if it threw a blade. If it hasn't check out the belts, and also tell us whether you smelt anything. If all of the above are ok, it could be your compressor needing a charge. Let us know what you find.

Shaking Of Steering Wheel When Breaking At 50mph +
UCF3 replied to sebastor's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
sebastor: Take your front wheels off and feel the rotors with a dry towel. If they feel grooved(pad marks) and not warped(bumpy) then they're fine. If they're warped then get them machined. While you're at it check your pads out too. If they're grooved, it's most likely the wheel balance or pressure. Had the same problem on the parent Honda. The ones in the back aren't that important because they do15% of the job. -
I would recommend taking it to the power washer and removing as much as possible. Once majority is gone, use some rubbing compound to remove the rest. I use 3M's, but Carnuba's one will do the trick. Once you have it off, see if there's a chip or dings and fill them in with touch-up paint. I'd try the rubbing compound first before taking it to the power washers, since pwd washers tend to weaken the paint if it hasn't been waxed in a while.

Hey Guys: Wanted to let you know that 90-94 LS400 has a new Wilwood Brake Kit. If you all are interested in getting better braking capability worth the high price. I'll be posting pics on the LS400/LS430 Gallery as soon as I have them in my possesion. If you're interested, let me know.

You're not the only one. I'll send a message to the Admin. thanks for letting us know.

If you don't want to pay for the synthetic, put 10W-30. The viscosity and weight will do the job too.
-
never tried repairing a chip. Personally I would replace the windshield, but whatever is cheaper is the way to go. If you're car looks very clean, I would recommend replacing the windshield. There are plenty of vendors who can replace the windshield cheaply. worth a shot. Sorry I wasn't that helpful, and welcome to the club.

Has anyone tried TireRack?

As far as I know, TOM'S has made a turbo charger kit, but it won't work on the US SC. The ECU was modified. Stillen is working on a turbo or supercharger kit for the SC, but are at least a year behind. I would recommend asking a turbo specialist to tune and create a turbo kit.
-
AWJ: No, the Claws are the Baer Brake kits for the Saleen Mustangs and Z06s. I'm thinking Baer made a kit to fit the SC or the Soarer. http://www.baer.com/Products/BrakeSystems.aspx
-
Why Lanoe, aren't you satisfied with the current performance? Tom's has made a turbo upgrade kit for the SC430. According to them, the turbo upgrade is making 487bhp at the crank, and 524PFT. The kit is running for about $4500. They're recommending changing a few other things with it for those performance specs. No Supercharger kit is available yet.

JDOwen: I would recommend checking the manufacture date on the timing belt before changing it. The previous owner might have already done it, since it was supposed to be done at 60k.

Suspension Kit And Performance Brakes
UCF3 replied to sc300wcar's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
SC300Wcar: AWJ mentioned that he was upgrading his SC with "Sumitomo Supra TT brake" You might want to check that out. I'll check with my Wilwood brake kit maker, and see if they've completed a kit yet. TEINs have really nice Coilover Shocks for the Soarer/SC, but I'm not sure if someone is selling them here yet. -
AWJ: Isn't there a Baer Claw for the SC? By the way, how much for the Rims and tires?
-
I'd go with the KYBs since they are adjustable. I don't like the Tokikos since the ones that I have on my LS bounce a lot. I would definitely recommend a sway bar. Can't give u the name to a good Sway bar company, though. I would recommend getting 17 or 18. Anything higher would compromise on ride quality and product safety. so far, I'm enjoying my stock setup suspension. What I would get is a sway bar, and four 17 or 18s to better the look.

The only thing a fan is designed to do is cool your intercooler or radiator. Since you don't have any turbos I'm guessing your dual fans were put on to cool your radiator. I really think you should see what's causing your engine to heat up so much. The SC was designed for speed. the Soarer in Japan is it's other name. That is a performance car, and PlanetSoarer.com would be site to check out, if you're not aware of the car. I wouldn't do the headers yet, though. If you do the headers you have to do the exhaust, and the stock SC exhaust is big enough to endure some minor performance upgrades. Since your working on a small budget, start slow. AWj will give you some more ideas, and some good addresses.
