  1. Mktbully: Question for you. What are the credentials for these people, providing information? Just kind of curious. There are websites out-there that don't provide the best of the best info. blackstone provides a result of the oil sample in a email format. the emails are forwarded to one person who's collecting the data. of course there will be slight bit of margin of error...but we're looking at a population sample. the people who are taking samples are the DIYers just like u and me (i'm assuming you're a DIY). basically you let the oil drain for 5-10 secs and then a bottle is stuck in the stream to collect the sample. there are no manufacturers paying for it. each sample is paid for by each owner of the car. no bias is put on to anything. the comments are coming from blackstone themselves. Interesting. BlackSC4: A couple of my mechanic friends and a Mobil Lab guy says, any early, high mileage 6 or 8 cylinder Japanese car in MidAtlantic weather( Wet, cold, and hot Climate) can use 5W30 and 10w30. That's the best performance oil. The Mobil Lab guy says 5w40 and 0w40 can be used on 02-04 cars.
  2. wow, that looks good. I'm painting mine black though.
  3. You can use either. It won't do any damages. I personally put 93 because it's a cleaner burning fuel.

  5. Sorry it took me such a long time to respond to this. There is no, Best oil to put in your car. They're all really good. Since one of my sponsors is Mobil 1, I'm pervy to that brand. I have 204k SC, so I use 10w30 Mobil 1. Castro Synthetic, Quaker State, Penzoil, they're all really good, and do the exact same job. Mobil 1 0w40 is recommended after you've broken in your engine, after 1500miles. It is a cleaner, more efficient oil/lubricant, but most of us have some miles on our cars. I know the New Fords and Hondas use a special oil, and it's possible they're using something similar to 0w40. As mentioned before, if you have no leaks, you can switch to 0w30-40, but it is recommended that you properly clean and lubs all parts of your engine, before use. Read up on it. http://www.mobil.com/USA-English/Lubes/PDS...obil1_0W-40.asp
  6. I haven't heard that before. Since the SCs are using one of the Toyota Supra engines, it's possible that you can get forged pistons.
  7. Absolutely. Just not 0w40 0W40 Mobil 1. Definitely not recommended for older cars. It is a very good oil to put in your car, but only in Brand New Motors. It's designed for modern cars, in Arctic climates. I haven't seen anybody selling it over here. I know it's big in the UK and Germany
  8. Mi-foodie If you're dealing with the Lexus Dealers, don't forget to check out the Dealer Review System. If the dealership you're dealing with has a negative comment(s), it may sway you in a cars' direction. Good luck
  9. That's cool. The used part is important, since used books are cheaper than new.
  10. I agree with JDM. If you're thinking about a family, the IS, ES, and GS are excellent choices. I'd lean towards the IS. Cheaper, high quality, sports sedan that you can get as a stationwagon. I think you should drive all models, then choose.
  11. I would also ask the junk yards, Brandywine and so on. They can find anything. If all else fail, I can help you get one. Pm me if you're interested.
  12. as the famous Jesse James from West Coast Choppers once stated, never buy a car at night or in the rain. Just remember when talking to the dealer, you're in charge, not them.
  13. Before you buy the car, you need to visit a Lexus dealer (around $175-250, called pre-certified inspection) or take your most trusted mechanic. There's alway a flaw with the car, and use that to drop the price down to $6k-7k. Find as many flaws with the car; if the tech from Lex says there's an oil leak, use that to bring the price down to $6k, because it is a to repair. Check engine lights, down to $9k body damage/undercarriage/interior: $9500-10k Let us know what else comes up, and we'll help you come up with better pricing. If there are no flaws (very rear), then start neg. around $10-11k, and increase by $250. Be tough, and don't back down. Good Luck
  14. If the Wings West spoiler is as light as the OEM ones, then it shouldn't. OEM ones are hollow spoilers.
  15. I saw Lextreme with a supercharger listed for the SC400. Turbo on the SC300 will be better and easier.
  16. No the pic I added is a Nissan Skyline GTR-34. If you're interested in flares for your mudguards, checkout some of the bodykits available. You might come accross something you like. The spoiler you're interested in is fine. Good Luck
  17. have you tried out Kelly Blue Book. It might help you with the pricing issue. The 95s expect to pay about $7k+. The rest you can imagine. I like the 97 up. It comes with a stock body kit and so on.
  18. I'm sure 1Ponkte will be able to help you out if you're interested in getting another book. If not, let me know. I can get you the books, too.
  19. I'll do a controlled test, and figure it. Just need to wait until it snows/freezes again. AWJ, just out of curious, when you had your accident, did you over-accelerate on the turn?
  20. Quick snap 180 could mean we have a little posi, but here's the bigger question, did you stop before the 180 mark or after, and did you stop it voluntarily?
  21. Have you figured out what wheel well it's coming from?
  22. I swaped my H4s for SPW H4Dbeam. The HIDs are much better. you'll loose the use of your highbeam and the fog lights though.
  23. I don't think you have to worry about the FWD vs RWD that much. They have similar setup. When purchasing new Wheels for this car, you should consider offsetting. They are different for the 1st gen LS. That's the reason why when you check on tirerack.com or tires.com, there are less options available for the 1st gens. $2500 for a set of new tires and rim? :chairshot: not good. Try the tirerack if you're goin for the new rims.
  24. Ahh! the one on the SC400. Nah, there's nothing wrong with it, but Addb, you have some more choices than that. Like :)
  25. I know Stillen is selling Injen filters for the 4.3, and other parts are being sold by the Japanese Mans., TOM'S, TRD, etc.
