  1. So the next generation IS is coming out shortly and i wanted to see if anyone else doesn't like the exterior look like me? Somewhat love the interior but the exterior looks terrible. Thoughts? http://pressroom.lexus.com/releases/2014+lexus+is+all+new+preview+jan9.htm
  2. Between .5 and 1.0 thickness is where I would start looking for good cheap pads and rotors. The lip sounds like the pads weren't seated completely flat or an angle. The rotors and pads I added to the GS are mostly metalic but they rust like crazy. Yes they were cheap at $425 for rotors and pads all around.
  3. Has anyone found a traction or VDC disable button on your GS yet? I thought it was on the dash but I haven't found it yet. Anybody????
  4. Doesn't the knob work anymore?
  5. You're not the only one. I never received my CSP notice and I'm pretty sure the previous owners didn't either. I ended up going to dealer and they were happy to see another CSP client The dealer ordered my parts but parts from Jp are on back order. I already have over 100k on my GS and Lexus won't cover new O2 sensors on the exhaust. Eventually the cats will fail. :chairshot: Thanks to Tex2670 for the info.
  6. Hey Guys and Gals: I wanted to wish all of you a Happy New Year 2013. Hope all your wishes and dreams come true.
  7. I did a complete brake job after I bought the car back in September. Although a friend says it's okay, never felt a Toyota brake spongy. Was planning on it when the new pistons and piston rings come in.
  8. I bought my replacement carpet from JCWhitney. I would imagine they still carry the type. just need to cut it to fit.
  9. Ditto!!! Sorry, it's kind off late.
  10. Haven't really looked into that before. Couldn't say either. Anybody else?
  11. Has anybody replaced their ballasts yet?
  12. Hey guys: Wanted to know if anyone else with the 06 GS300 has taken their car in for this brake recall? If so, do you have any details we should be aware of before we take it to the dealer. http://www.lexus.com/recall/#isgsRecallSection On October 20, 2010, Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc. announced that it will conduct a voluntary Safety Recall involving approximately 740,000 — 2005 through 2006 Avalon, 2004 through 2006 Highlander (Non Hybrid) and Lexus RX330, and 2006 Lexus GS300, IS250, and IS350 vehicles sold in the United States to address the possibility that a small amount of the brake fluid could slowly leak from the brake master cylinder, resulting in illumination of the brake warning lamp. This action follows an announcement made by Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan on October 21, 2010 (Japan). The Toyota genuine brake fluid used during vehicle assembly for vehicles sold in the United States contains polymers. The polymers act as lubricants for certain brake system components. If during vehicle maintenance, brake fluid is used that does not contain such polymers or only small amounts, a part of the internal rubber seal (brake master cylinder cup) located at the end of the brake master cylinder piston may become dry and may curl during movement of the piston. If this occurs, a small amount of the brake fluid could slowly leak from the brake master cylinder into the brake booster, resulting in illumination of the brake warning lamp. If the brake warning lamp has illuminated and the vehicle continues to be operated without refilling the master cylinder brake fluid reservoir, the driver will begin to notice a spongy or soft brake pedal feel and braking performance may gradually decline. Owners of the involved vehicles will be notified by first class mail beginning in early November 2010. Toyota and Lexus dealers will replace the brake master cylinder cup with a newly designed one at no charge to the vehicle owners. Detailed information and answers to questions are available to customers at www.toyota.com/recall or www.lexus.com/recall and the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-800-331-4331 or Lexus Customer Satisfaction at 1-800-25 LEXUS or 1-800-255-3987. Below you'll find answers to some of your questions. 1. What is the condition? 2. What is the cause of this condition? 3. What is a Brake Master Cylinder, and what purpose does the Brake Master Cylinder Cup provide? 4. Are there any warnings that this condition exists? 5. How many accidents have been reported? 6. How many cases have been reported? 7. What is Lexus going to do? 8. What if a customer has the brake warning lamp illuminated? 9. How long will the repair take? 10. What if an owner has additional questions or concerns?
  13. I've replaced my halogens for HIDs pretty much on all my cars. I agree 6500k is too blue, and if you're state is like mine, the cops will pull you over. I personally prefer the 4300 or 5500k because they are brighter and I can see more definition .
  14. Oh, one more thing. See if you can find an idle control valve. That might be the cause. I remember our friends at Planet Soarer once did a write-up on it. http://www.planetsoarer.com/IAC/iac.htm
  15. Also, you should consider changing most motor oils-- engine, transmission (optional because the gears may start slipping after the two years), steering, differential (optional as well), brake and coolant. I would also, manually turn-off all electronics--climate control system (off-button) and radio. Disconnect the battery or keep it charged during the two years. I would also not use the parking brake and if you can lift the wiper blades up. I would also, top off the fuel tank and add Stabil, and finally, wash and wax the car so that you can put on a brand-new 1-2 layer car cover (since it's inside). I would recommend checking up on the car every six to eight months if there are any leaks or critters have gotten in. hope this helps.
  16. hi mate ive tried diffrent gas and still the same problem this is what ive tryed if changed the tps still the same ive swapped the fuel pump ecu still no change ive tried another motor ecu still the same and ive changed the afm still the same, ive not checked the big intake pipe as of yet because when i get of work it is dark and at the moment the weather is very wet here. but will check the big air pipe over the weekend. regards neil How about the spark plugs. On my old 2JZ the valve cover gasket leaked water after I cleaned the engine bay. Had to remove all the oil and excess water and made this rattling noise. Any chance you could record the sound on video?
  17. Will you please exactly how you replaced the housing? Because I looked at my SC400 1998, as far as I can see there is no way I can squeze a high beam housing in without taking off the bumber, thanks I would remove the front cover. It would make life a lot easier.
  18. Sorry, I haven't read through what you've done already. Is it possible you still have bad fuel in your tank? Have you tried using dry gas?
  19. Is your engine shaking too much?
  20. That's interesting. thanks for sharing this little tid-bit.
  21. Do you have sensors on your bumpers? My GS didn't come with them, so it's just a button.
  22. I agree with Paul. The ML is great, but I've come across my first trouble. The Nav reader isn't talking to the central stereo anymore. The reader will cost me $350 and if the problem is on the central stereo side, the headunit will cost me around $1500. BTW these prices are discounted. What ever GS you end up with in the end, buy the extended warranty.
  23. I agree with Paul. The ballast should be checked out also. did your tech say anything more specific like the bulb contact points are rusted or it exploded inside the housing?
  24. I'm not sure what you're referring to. got any pictures?
