  1. It sounds normal. have you experienced something differently in the past? Also is the engine choking or does it feel like the entire car is jerking while it's changing gears?
  2. It should work, but why? I only ask because the replacement Window motor regulator (New) aren't that much; maybe $150 tops. just buy the part and install it. Just make sure someone in your family has thin arms because it's a pain to install it. Also ask the Lexus dealer how much to install it. it shouldn't be more than an 1hr, about $300 tops installed, car washed and vacuumed.
  3. they have used a powder coating inside to cover the chrome before. They sent me a link before, but unable to find it at this moment. It does look similar to the charcoal look on the 05 camry's that's actually the look I will be going for as well. I know they are very expensive but they are one of the only ones that offer custom work. They can convert it to your look you desire, which is what I am going to do eventually. They're not for everybody out there, but if believe if I am going to change the look of my only true ride i'm going to do it right.
  4. have you changed the transmission fluid recently?
  5. It sounds like an exhaust leak. I know I had something similar to what you're describing on my old LS, but it was primarily rust build-up that was causing the sound. Don't know if there is a fix. what did the exhaust guys say?
  6. Can't provide you with any instructions, but have you searched the forum? I do believe it was discussed in the past.
  7. Have you replaced your Spark plugs, distributor cap and spark plug wires? Any moisture in the plug chamber. BTW: what year is your SC4? Also, check the fuel-filter. sometimes the sensor and adopters get clogged causing this problem.
  8. Have you purchased any poor/cheap fuel lately? I;m leaning towards the MAFi(Mass Air Flow) or the Fuel Injectors being clogged. Usually when the TPS goes bad the check engine light comes on.
  9. NNNNOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) Alright, now that you've done the deed, i guess i can say they look okay. I still prefer the LED conversions from Clearcorners, plus they offer real HIDs
  10. You can stop by or call the dealership and ask the parts dept about how many motors are there. The mechanic might be guessing. I've always through there was only one, but i've never actually replaced one.
  11. so what do they look like again? You have me curious now. I believe the Snort pic is trying to say you're sniffing something and getting high of it, but I'll leave it alone. You can unscrew the screws from up-top and grab it from the bottom. Just prevent any kind of rubbing along the Radiator. You can also lift up the high-beam cover-corners, and grab them from there, but if you'd like to remove the cover to make life easier that would be recommended.
  12. So why don't you guys send your CD changers out to be refurbished? they usually run about $225-250 depending on where you go.
  13. Need more details. Have you been able to figure out if it's under your seat or under the car? If it's under the seat check your floor vents for obstructions. Also check out your seat and see if the controls to your seat are working.
  14. Hmm alright, didn't think it'd need a new drive shaft since the power's almost identical, but I did figure the mounting and such would be either 100% same or a ton different haha. How much would a refurbished engine typically run? the 2j from the GS300 is 400 bucks (but he didn't list what all the engine had with it in terms of ecu wiring harness etc), so it's pretty tough to beat that, but the savings may be not in engine price but how little I'd have to spend putting the engine in. And yea I'm waiting to see if the guy with the 300 will send me pictures of it, because a seized SC isn't something I've heard of much. But thanks greatly! Woops, I forgot that you mentioned the SC had a manual. you're going to have to change a lot of the Engine internals to handle a manual transmission. Engines are same but I'd imaging the drive shafts are different all together. You're engine options are pretty wide. Visit jdmenginedepot.com or http://toyotaenginesdirect.com/ LOC or myself can't really vouch for either site, but they are the most popular out on the Web.
  15. I'm glad you posted this link. I didn't even consider age before buying my tires.
  16. probably not the sensor on your transmission. It's likely the cluster itself.
  17. taking the engine out of an 05 and dropping it into the Sc is do-able size wise, but you're going to spend some money to modify the exhaust system, ECM, enginebay with new mounting locations, probably a new custom drive shaft, maybe a new wiring harness to the BCM. It would probably be easier to find a refurbished or used Short block "GE" and installing it. Before you buy the Cheap SC w/ the 5speed, I'd check the transmission out. Chances are whoever let the motor seizeup didn't really care about maintaining the car. good luck with your decision.
  18. All intakes makes a difference in the cars performance. There is a conversion available if you're willing to put the time into it. It's cheaper but it will require you to modify you stock intake system http://www.planetsoarer.com/BFI3/bfi3.htm Now here's the catch. For you to feel the difference you'll have to upgrade to the SRT with ECU piggy back, and upgrade the exhaust to a high flow system. You will gain at least 10bhp/s, and you will loose current fuel consumption per gallon numbers.
  19. I might as well toss my 2 cents. It depends on what's you fancy. The Corvette is fast, agile and very unpredictable, but the SC is a comfortable luxury coupe. I agree they're really not in the same league. One's built with performance in mind and the other with Luxury. that's why we the the XLR and SC430 in the same league. I probably wouldn't want to spend $60-70k on the Corvette either. I'd opt for the GT-R. :whistles:
  20. have you read the code yet?
  21. Oh, I've come across a couple of Hydrogen/diesel engines and one hydrogen/alchohol engine in my racing league. I am familiar with the conversion. I was just curious to see if you can provide us with a step by step documentation for the conversion, test results and so on, to pin saying you have a successful running Hydrogen/Gasoline converted car. On your other post we're aware oil companies are buying the technology for the Hydrogen, solar, hydro-electric and a few power systems, and we believe Oil companies are the only ones who have the infrastructure to get the ball moving. The DOE has talked about getting them to start the conversion, but we have to wait.
  22. wow from the tread pattern i'd say they're really good in Rain. the noise on the other hand
  23. Oh, I figured it would be the case. So, where are those EPA guys when you need them :whistles: I'd start with the two up front first and see if the code comes on after your test drive.
  24. hate to butt-in but are you guys adding in people and luggage weight, and state of the vehicle(oil, tire and coolant pressures)? All factory tests are completed within 3days of the vehicle coming of the line. Oil, tire, and coolant pressures are in a new state, and there's usually one very thin driver(150/160lbs) or less, and 25lbs of equipment on the car. I'm sure the factory numbers are going to be the best. Oh, the issue I read about the Garmin GPS and the mileage, it could be a latency or a software issue. It probably wasn't set correctly.
