  1. Own 2004 Lexus LS430 in great shape with one exception. The Low Tire Pressure Monitoring System icon(LTPMS)will not turn off and stay off after the re-set button is pressed. Had tires and rims serviced and re-sealed twice in past three months. Air is not escaping from tires - regularly check pressure. What is wrong? How do I resolve this issue and what will it cost at the Lexus dealer? Can the system be disableed without getting into legal trouble? Help! Frustrated!!!
  2. If you cannot open the driver-side door with the remote control, you will more than likely have to replace the actuator. Just paid Tires Plus a little over $400.00 to fix the same problem on my 04 LS 430. The Lexus dealer wanted to charge me over $1,200.00 for the same repair. Muddywaters
  3. HEADS-UP!!! The '99 and '00 RX300 models are incurring an unusually high level of premature transaxle failures, F/awd models especially so, it seems. A new ATF line pressure control technique was adopted with the introduction of the early RX300. There was an inadvertent, unforeseen design FLAW with the use of this new system that was not satisfactorily addressed until the RX330 series adopted DBW. As an interim fix the '01 and after RX300 models always came with towing option, additional ATF cooling, a less (a LOT less)functional VC (Viscous Clutch), and the mechanical rear LSD option was dropped.
  4. The chrome rims on my 2004 LS 430 are badly scared and corroded. This has destroyed the seal necessary to maintain stable air pressure - air leakage is a problem. Since the problem cannot be resolved, I have decided to purchase new chrome rims. However, that is easier said than done. It is next to impossible to find chrome rims that will fit P 225 / 55 R 17 tires and over the large brake rotors on the LS 430. Have looked at wheels by Velocity, Verde, Devino, etc., etc., etc. The few chrome wheels that I have found are either gawdy, uglier than sin or totally unsuitable for a fine luxury automobile. Any suggestions of where I might find suitable rims. Please give brand names and identification numbers. Thank you, Muddywaters
  5. Remote will open all doors on 2004 LS 430, except the driver's door. Suspect the actuator may be the problem? What do you say? If so, where can I get the part at a reasonable price. One source wanted to charge me $1,000 just for the part. Labor an additional cost.
  6. Had a click for several months when I tried to start my 2004 LS 430. Paid over $600.00 to replace the starter. That worked for a couple of weeks. The problem returned. I took it back to the shop, he cleaned the contacts and the clicking went away for awhile. Today, my car would not start after church. Had to leave it on the parking lot until tomorrow. Ticked off - big time!!!! Gonna have the shop towe it in and replace the starter again under warranty. Hope, I am working on the right solution? It did not work last time.
