  1. hi, i am interested in installing a flip-up dvd headunit in my 04 es330. anyone done this? the factory faceplate looks like a aftermarket headunit would fit and look well in the current rectangular location but would leave the extra buttons that come with the factory unit. i was curious to whether there is a company that sells a replacement faceplate that would basically eliminate all the extra button locations. thanks, don
  2. well that's why i was asking if an 05 es330 wheel would work on the '04 es330 because on the lexus site it looks like the radios are the same for both years... just the steering wheel controls look new. on my z06 i don't have auto-headlight activation like the coupe/convertables but by making one switch setting on the pcm (if you have access to it) you can activate it. also, i don't have electronic tire pressure sensor like the coupe/convertable but if i were to buy the sensors and edit another switch in the pcm, viola, tire pressure shows on the control display. i guess i was just hoping that since some hw may be used on different models with extra features, that something like the audio controls are wired in, just not activated like the above examples. you'd be surprised to learn what features are hidden just because they limit content from one vehicle to another by just a software setting change. thanks. don
  3. well, i have the 04 es330 so displacement is the same. i do understand there is more torque in the rx330 so there is probably a different cam in there but the power difference isnt that much. it was just my thought that the tranny feels much more restrictive on the es330 than the rx330. interesting thing... if you look at the lexus site, the es330's 0-60 times are the same as the gs300.
  4. when i had an '04 rx330 loaner while my car was in for the 1000 mile service, i really liked that the audio controls are on the steering wheel. something that's on my odyssey and am spoiled now. i noticed the '05 es330 will also have this and wondered how difficult a task would it be (how costly $$$ basically) to have an '05 steering wheel fitted into the '04. thanks don
  5. i havent really experienced much hesitation as discussed more than my concern is that going from my 2000 es300, the es330 doesnt accelerate as 'freely' as my 300 did under normal acceleration. like the power is being electronically throttled down. maybe the engine still needs more time to break in? i haven't really pushed it only cause it's not a car i have any desire to really push (for now)... i save that for another car. to add to this... i got a loaner 04 rx330 when my car was in for it's 1000 mile service and that suv accelerated off a stop much more freely than a 330 sedan. that just seems wrong.
  6. i believe general motors does not recommend using antiseize on spark plugs and i have seen other sources that also do not recommend using antiseize. the main concern with antiseize is not that it would be a 'sure seize' which i do not believe but have not looked into it that much... it's that antiseize is still a lubricant of sorts and the danger is that it will cause overtorquing of the plug that will cause just as much damage. taking it one step further, the concern is that joe-servicetech working on his ump-teenth car of the day uses the antiseize on the plug and then threads it in with his rachet and gives it a final 'umph' to tighten it to spec by his 'feel-o-meter' to in reality about 20+ lbs of torque. that being said, i just installed new plugs in my z06 when i installed headers and used a dab of antiseize on the plugs. i used a torque wrench and carefully torqued to factory spec and am comfortable with it. as a diy'er, i trust i am careful with torquing and i am more concerned with galling by not using the antiseize and destroying the threads on the head. don
  7. hi, i recently turned in my 2000 es300 plat edition for a 2004 silver es330 for the wife. i like the car but liked the machined wheels that were on the plat edition over the the current ones on the 04. the 04 wheels finish make the silver on the car look flatter and i think it needs a wheel with a bright silver machined look to bring out the silver paint or maybe a bigger wheel with a better pattern to fill in the wheel wells just a little. so without going to an aftermarket company, i was wondering if the gs or ls wheels will fit in the es330 without any issues? i know there are different sizes but all of them are a little wider than the ones on the es and might give it a better factory look. thanks.
  8. did i read elsewhere on this site that there is suppose to be a software update to address this issue soon?
