  1. I'll try that today if the screen doesn't switch and advise. Thanks for the suggestion.
  2. Whether I am using my BlackBerry or iPhone 4 (both are programmed to pair with the system - and I am in a 2008 RX350) the Nav system display screen sometimes does not switch to show the phone screen (for volume, etc.). There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why this happend sometimes and not on others when all conditions are seemingly the saem. ANy thoughts/suggestions?
  3. ...as I suspected - amd the maunual clearly states they are supplied....so any thoughts as to how I go about getting a replacement? Actually - let me re-think that. I got four items: 1. two keys with remote; 2. one key that contains electronics (a chip) to allow the user to drive the car (is that the 'valet' key? I've never used it and don't know if it operates the glove-box) but no remote capability; and 3. an electronic credit-card-sized-but-thicker 'card' that contains two elements: one is a metal 'stem' (that can be separated from the card) that allows the opening of the door but not the start-up of the engine, except - for the latter - when a side of the 'card' containing the chip is held in close proximity to the ignition switch. [since I am concerned about being locked out the one day when it is most inconvenient, i.e when I have lost the key while out, I have hidden the 'stem' around the outside of the car, and hidden the stemless card somewhere inside the car. Thus, I will be able to open the car with the stem, then get the card, then start the engine if need be, and make my way home.] I don't know if any of those keys/card qualify as a 'valet' key. The one key that contains an electronic chip but is not 'remote' has a plastic covered head, and the head is about 1/2 - 2/3 the size of the 'remote' key. I have always thought of the key with chip but not remote as the 'valet' key. And the credit-card-sized 'combo' as the 'wallet' key. -- I hope this helps. Of course, the easy way to check is to call a Lexus dealer and advise you wish to order the 'wallet' key for your vehicle. If they accept the order - bingo! Precisley: I have the two fully functional remote keys as well as the "valet" key, but the card that holds a metal key that can be popped out and used to gingerly open the door if you lock your keys inside is what's missing. And - yes they do work as I needed to engage it once (silly me). I was not aware of the "hold the wallet in proximity to the ignition switch" properties but shoudl I actually get this wallet key it will be worth a try. Thanks

  5. When I took delivery of my 2008 RX350 the only thing missing was the "wallet" key. The dealer told me he would "look into it." He finally tells me that they stopped offering them for the 2008. I say BS......who's right?
  6. Just took my newly purchased 2008 RX350 on a roadtrip from LA to Palm Springs. On the way back home today we stopped midway to see some friends. The NAV system readily accepted their address before we got under way, yet once we were driving, it started alerting me to a completely different route and an exit ramp a good 25 mles before we were anyway near where we wanted to go. I actually knew where I was going so this was more of a test run to acclimate myself to the system. The dsplayed maps were correct (streets/exists) so I know the GPS knew where we were, but the route suggestions (I was in the turn view) were way off base. I kept ignoring the prompts but it kept wanting to take me off the freeway so I "suspended guidance." Once we were off the freeway at the correct exit it correctly guided us through the local streets. AND...when continuining home it opted to take me off the freeway and onto local streets some 5 miles before "HOME" eventhough there is a freeway exit about .6 miles from our house. Is this a question of me selecting the type of route I want to take? Admittedly I did not check that option - and to make mattes more irksome, the system actually presumed I was making a round trip so the moment we pulled into our driveway it started giving me directions to head back from whence I just came. I am working under the assumption that this is all due to my learning curve of how one inputs data.....or is there truly something amiss with my NAV? Theo Studio City, CA
  7. my apologies - I goofed when posting this. I shall add it to the RX board. Thanks
  8. I don't know about the RX350, but on the ES350 on the lower right side of the steering wheel is a button marked "display". Toggle through it several times, one of the screens shows the elapsed time on the window on the dash near the steering wheel. You might post on the RX board instad of the ES board. My apologies - I erred in placing this on the ES board......
  9. I just took delivery of my 2008 Lexus RX350 w/Navigation system. One of the nifty diagnostics on my old 2004 RX330 was a timer that showed me how long I had been driving? I cannot seem to find such a display on the 350. Is there such an option or has that been discontinued on this model? Thanks Theo Studio City, CA
