  2. The scary thing is Ive seen a couple RX300 that customers have had that happen to them , but not a RX330 yet I keep an eye out for a e-mail or bulletin though lexus guy
  3. Lexus thought of the VSC badge as a hindsight and put out a memo to dealerships to badge all new RX's on lot (IN 01) but did not make a big deal in public they are pretty inexpensive for a Lexus part easy to add pt# PT211-33010 I believe but Ill check tommorow and re post from work for sure hope that helps!! lexus guy
  4. When changing your oil on the RX300 just buy a heat glove like my mech. do so it wont burn your arm taking it off. Please use a factory filter preferably 90915-yzzb9 that still has plastic keeping the gasket lubed I use those on my 88 4x4 and 01 silversport every 3000 miles and have never had problems basic maintenence is not hard. every 3500 to 5000 miles an oil change and at the 15 thousand mark change t4 trans fluid (now US sourced so price has dropped) and at 30 mark include coolant tune up (basically plugs) are every 90,000 miles along with timing belt. I've seen RX's come in with 120,000 to 140,000 come in already!! Just be sure to oil change please we have had RX's come in at 25,000 with smoke at start up because it still has original oil filter on it and oil looks like tar. Hope this helps!!!
  5. have seen 4 gx's that the fly by wire (t-body motor) that tells the gx to go when you step on the gas have not responded all the time (will still sit at idle) just a thing to watch for. Peace from the ninja
  6. Lexus is making one for march 03 and up rides but they say they will not retrofit back past march. They are avalible as port installed right now because of epa restrictions but should be avalible at a dealer soon Im told. hope that helps :whistles:
  7. The sunroof cables in the older ES300 were a common item I have not sold any for about 3 months but 4 or five years ago I used to sell 2 to 3 sets a month just make sure you get both an have a qualified Automotive glass company do it yiur sunroof will probally have to be reshimmed also hope that helps
  8. When I get to work I will upload a link for you to check out about 6:30am pst
  9. See this alot first try pounding (but not to hard) on back lights to make sure you don't have a layed down filiment on one of the lights that might be bad if they dont blink out on you then check you lamp failure sensor in LH side of rear trunk (little sqare box behind trim) will say lamp failure sensor on it and has a plug in directly in the middle of it. The plug comes out farially easy and the back of the sensor slides off. Check for a burn spot on the circuit board if its okay I have seen in rare cases ((3 or 4 memory slipping)) that replacement bulbs for tail lights(the cheap ones) can wack the system into thinking it has a bulb out. also if you live in a cold state we see sockets on outside tail lights rust sometimes good luck
  10. In the 7 years I have worked for one I never came across a "normal" throttle lock problem on one of them. Where did they pull that term out of. No bulletins or anything else to indicate that on LIS . They proballly gave up.
  11. check around there is some repair places that can repair your radio without going factory exchange unit like carsteriohelp.com good luck
  12. Your GS has 2 motor mounts and a rear trans mount. I have never seen then go bad on there own without a reason up in the northwest. question ypur service writer on his experiance with Lexus vehicles the rear pads on your GS at 135k should have been replaced at least once before. have him also run a history on your ride to see if the recall on ball joints applies to your GS and has it been performed already As far as the other persons post the only common es mount to go bad is what we call the dog bone
  13. The programmer is the same basic handheld that Toyo and Lexus have been using for years , but just updated to handle the programable features that Lexus started giving custom options to around 2001. At my dealership we do this as a courtesty to our customers. It takes about 10 min to do after the customer choses what they want. The choices change year to year and where very limitied in 01 but dealer can print out a CBEST list for cust make and year off LIS and have customer choose from there
  14. On your hard shifting in the morning problem does it happen to be a 1999 they had a major notice on shifing when cold. The operating temp. had to reach a certain temp.(transmission that is) before it would shift into final drive ( seemed to feel like it was over reving or holding back its shift) unfortunetly it is a normal operation especially noticed on 1999 then was reduced quite a bit in 2000 and on. I drove alot on operation complaints and I live at top of a hill at it feels bad, but after 1999 it does not get noticed as much ( barely noticable on my 01 silversport. Sorry
  15. Lexus came out with a "new" master switch just like last person said but from what I have seen they were not a true fix for the problem he is right that unpluging the master switch for about 30 sec and "rebooting" the system works 90% of the time just becareful n that awful clip that holds it down it breaks pretty easy if not careful Good Luck
  16. My experience with wood kits is there is a ton of them out there. All are fairly easy to install yourself with a little mechanical ability, as far as a wood steering wheel goes definatly have a pro take off your wheel if you are going for a totally new factory style woodgrain and leather wheel. There is alot of aftermarket companies that offer laminates to "snap on" over factory wheels ut most look cheap! Beware of the quality of the product. On the wood kits they are pretty good these days about matching existing wood in car but ask what they will do for you if you have a warranty issue with a part on your car and have to replace a part on your car that a piece of there kit covers. Some of them will gladly send new one other companies balk at the idea.(have experience beind a RX owner myself on top of a parts manager at a dealership in the western area) Check there policy and follow instructions to the "T" and it will look good, but pass if you can on the steering wheel Lexus wants an arm and leg for theres and aftermarket laminates look awful installed on wheel. Hope this helps you on your quest
  17. Lexus 16" rims for your RX300 produced by Lexus that will fit can throw you a curve ball. The RX300 is set up like a FWD vehicle so the LS400/430 GS300/400/430 and the ither rear wheel drive Lexus vevicles have a posibility of rubbing (some only a slight rub on the rear wheels) Any of the newer ES300 95-03 will directly bolt on to your RX300 with no issues (I am currently a parts manager at a northwest Lexus dealer) I have tried 5 or 6 different sets of es300 wheels and LS&GS wheels on my 01 silversport currently I have a set of 00 es Platinum Chome wheels on that really good ( the factory aluminum look of the wheels don't though) I have found the RWD lexus wheels have a tendacy to rub ever so slightly. I even had a set of TRD SC430 chromes on for a couple months last summer, but they required Car-Tek 30mil. spacers that made it ride like a tank and got sick of hitting bumps and losing fillings. Also Detada has a nice wheel (touring 121/123) that I had made for the RX300 offset that when matched with 255/555/18 michelen mxv4 energy's ride really nice and fill up the wheel well very well that I will cruise in the summer time I will try and post the pics in the photo gallery very soon (Also customed my buddys black 99 with upgraded tail lights and 18' touring wheel and custom coach grille I'll try and post that also. In short think of the RX as a front wheel drive when looking for factory wheels to match up unless you want to use spacers. Good Luck!! Lexus dude in Northwest
