  1. I'm reading very good reports on the Continental Pure Track tires and will soon need replacements for my Michelins on my 2010 ES350. I got 45,000 miles on them, so can't complain, but they got noisy in the last 20,000 miles. The Continental tires reviews show them to be very quiet and smooth riding with excellent tread wear. Anyone have these and if so, what has the experience been?
  2. I was interested in your mileage recap as I read it just before we started a 1900 mile trip from Minneapolis to Phoenix in my new ES350. Had 4900 miles on it when we started. My mileage turned out to be almost the same as yours: 29.4 mpg. The worst I got on any fillup was 26.4 on a tank that included 60 miles of around-town driving. The best I got was 31.2. I used 89 octane on the entire trip. What a ride!
  3. My 2010 ES, built in 11/09 has the exact same floor mats with the temporary warning label. My car has the cashmere interior and the charcoal floor mats didn't look correct to me. When I asked the dealer at delivery, he told me that this color mat was used on both the charcoal and the cashmere interiors and that it matches the charcoal dash color used on both interiors. I'd also like to know if these are the mats that are supposed to be with the car permanently or if they are a temporary substitute.
  4. Interesting. When I bought my new ES two months ago, the dealer tried to sell me an "add-on" windshield treatment for $200. Said it would repel the rain water sooooo much better than without. I didn't buy it. Wonder why I would need that if Lexus is already coating the windshield??
  5. Larry, are you looking for instructions on replacing the cabin filter? If so, I can tell what the '10 ES manual says, but it doesn't require that the glove box door come off. There is a small cover over the filter in the back of the glove box that must be removed from inside the glove box, and that will get you access to the filter. Hope this helps.
  6. Picked up my new ES350 Friday. Beautiful car. Decided to take one with a standard option package after getting recommendations on this forum. Didn't get the rear sun shade or backup sensors I wanted. Dealer says he can't install an aftermarket backup sensor package, so they may not be as versatile as Steve's dealer. My dealer has been an "Elite of Lexus" dealer for 16 years so I was surprised when they said they didn't do this. I may go to another automotive shop to have it done.
  7. Thanks for all your insights. We'll see what I can work out with the dealer. Didn't realize the dealer could install the parking sensors. Thx.
  8. Back to my original question. Anyone else out there order an ES350 from the factory, and if so, is 3-4 months a normal waiting time? Thx.
  9. You're entitled to your opinion, Steve, but the deal will have to be a good one if I'm buying an in-stock car with options I don't want and missing some I do. And, if a full sized spare is standard equipment, why does the sticker show an added cost of $205?
  10. Thanks for the reply, Steve. I'm meeting with my sales rep next week to discuss pricing. I did meet with another sales guy yesterday (mine wasn't available) and he tried to tell me that options like front/rear parking sensors weren't available unless you bought a multiple option package, which they had on the floor. When I questioned him more, he finally admitted that I could order exactly what I wanted but it would take 3-4 months. I DON'T want a full sized spare; I haven't taken a spare out in 5 years. And, I DON'T want to spend $300+ on a wood shift lever and leather wrapped steering wheel. I do want heated seats, front/rear parking sensors and a couple of other items. If the dealer is willing to work with me on what he has on the floor, I'll be glad to buy it, if it has what I want. We'll see next week how close to invoice the dealer is willing to go. I've been watching for special offers being advertised but haven't seen anything on the ES in our area. What is IMHO?
  11. I'm getting ready to order a 2010 ES350 with the options I want. The dealer says it will take 3-4 months for delivery. I looked at everthing he had on the floor, but they seem to either be fully loaded with nav (which I don't want) and other options, or they take the basic ES350 and add what seems to be high priced options that I don't want (full sized spare, wooden shift knob, etc). I'd like to get the car equipped the way I want to drive it, not the way the dealer wants to sell it to me. Is 3-4 months a normal delivery interval or is he using this as a lever to get me to buy something he has in stock? Thx.
