  1. I purchased a used sub woofer for my 92 SC400 and it was a 10 inch 1 ohm speaker. There is also a 8 inch 2 ohm speaker for some models. You'll have to take yours out and measure the diameter of the cone itself. Do not measure the outside diameter of the frame as it is a lot larger than the speaker cone itself. The coil impedence is written on the back of the spaeker, either 1 or 2 Ohms. You can't replace it with just any after market speaker because of the impedence of the subwoofer amplifier. Which is located on the rear deck next to the sub woofer. PS, make certain you have a bad speaker first before you replace it. The amplifier may be bad instead. If you a distortion problem look to the amplifier first. I did have a bad amp as well.
  2. I had the same problem with my 92 SC400 and it was a frozen caliper. If the mechanic did not remove the rotor, open the caliper fluid petcock and squeeze the caliper piston he would never catch the problem.
  3. OOPS, The correct location on the internet is CAR-PART.COM Ric
  4. I have a 92 SC400 which had a similar problem with my Panasonic system except my sub was distorted. The problem was a bad sub woofer amplifier which is located next to the sub woofer under the speaker deck cover. In order to get to it you have to remove the entire deck cover. I purchased a used amplifier from a salvage yard. I located the salvage yard through PARTS-COM on the internet.
  5. :( You can buy a used one through a search at CAR-PART.COM but there's no telling what shape it's in or how long it will last. I paid the $500 and got a rebuilt unit from Lexus two years ago and it has been working ever since without a problem.
  6. ;) I had the same problem and it turned out to be water building up between channels of the lower area of the door seal gasket. It appears that after several years the door seal gasket does not seal as good as when it was new so the water passes through the outer portion of the seal into the inter portion of the seal and then overflows past the inner seal. If you look at the door seal gasket at the bottom of the door jam you will notice it has two raised levels and one lower channel in the center. This is where the water builds up. I fixed this problem by drilling a drain hole through the center channel all the way through the gasket and out the bottom of the gasket. This allows water to drain out and eliminated the water build up forever and you wont have to buy new gaskets.
  7. :) I have replaced both of my headlight assemblies on my 1992 SC400. I have the service manual and it states that you have to drop the front bumper assy. by removing all bumper bolts. Sorry there is no other way.
  8. <_< Is there anyone who has changed gear ratios to a 3.5 or l3.2 for better gas mileage? I heard that the supra has an automatic model with a lower ratio that will fit and also the transmission gear for the speedometer will work as well.
