  1. Dang, I wish I could have had a lec when I was in my 20's
  2. Ahh, but his statement is true for a 98 es300 :D
  3. Check your dipstick or manual, but I believe the 97 es300 takes Dex III.
  4. Generally a type A QA (quality assurance) tester of network/wireless technology. I guess I just like technology so I have worked with routers/switches/fiber optics/copper & currently now working with wideband wireless. I like my job cause I get to break other peoples stuff
  5. Thanks for reply, i live in Boston area (Newton) and Marshfield would probably be little far, I still collect information and I haven't call Midas or Meineke yet, i will do this week, Thanks again for reply ← Michael, let me know how it went or if you find a dependable & reasonable independant shop near Boston. I inquired at my local NTB and they will put your parts in charging the labor.
  6. You mentioend that they pulled one plug and said it was goo. When I changed out my plugs, all the front plugs looked good, but for some reason, all the rear plugs looked a little worn. The 1998 does call for replacement of the plugs at 60k so you might want to have it done per schedule rather than waiting till you are forced to.
  7. besides that they me be amber isnstead of clear, I thought the LL were also stood for Long Life? I ended up replacing the pair as the replacement was slightly a different shade from the original. Only way you would know if the Hazards were on, but just knowing they were different drove me to change it :(
  8. I had the same dilemma when I changed out my battery, wasn't sure if I was going to get locked out. In the 98 and probably beyond, they did not program in the security code. This is not to say it hasn't been, but when I changed out my battery, I was fine.
  9. Which dealerships are those? I'll be giving them a call :)
  10. StevieJ, know anywhere local you can trust to do the touch up and a place for the 3M? Thanks
  11. Can anyone make a recommendation for aeither a full or half car bra? I would have prefered no to but the highway driving is killing the paint. I have a pearl white 98 es300 and would have prefered not to get the dark bras out there, but I can seem to find a tan or off white one.
  12. I had the Hayes manual at work when I sent the original e-mail out and since it was generic, wasn'nt sure if it was in the dash. I do have the Lexus manual at home, but that wasn't explicit that you had to pull the change holder out and I didn't want to break anything. But the manual is worth its weight in gold, otherwise I would have been pulling out fuses all night
  13. When you pop open the hood and look at the area up front , there is a plastic shroud. They are held in by fasteners that release by getting a flathead screwdriver and prying the top up slightly....you will then be able to remove the fastener. You will then be able to see the philips head screw under this plastic shroud. After that, as 98oyster stated, you move the assembly towards the front. I found it very hard but the triick I used was to get a small plastic tie wrap type fastener and use that to slowly levereage and pull the assembly forward and then POP! It should come out. Good luck
  14. Update Found that the Cig fuse in the interior dash was blown. 15 amps, no prob, engine compartment has a set of spare fuses (nice). Go to check, still dead , check fuse again, blown again! Wait a minute, lets check the outlets!Aarmrest outlet is clear, hey! My 1.5 year old was able to fit a dime in the cigarrette outlet and short me out :D removed the dime..... Put a smaller 10amp fuse (only one spare 15 amp) to check and YAY! Now my clock, side view mirrors, and power outlets work...OK, now I have to buy a 15 amp and hope the 10 amp doesn't blow before I do. Thanks for the tip on getting to the fuse box 98oyster.
  15. Thanks 98oyster. I can just pull right out?
  16. Anyone know offhand where the interior fuse box is located on a 1998 es300? Seems like either (I'm hoping anyways) that the fuse to the side mirrors, cigarette lighter and clock is blown. Hopefully its not a relay. Thanks
  17. Starts like a champ now. Didn't do anything different. Car must had thought it was still on vacation :D
  18. If it is a little low, add some distilled water. Unless you add a ton, your mixture should still be close to 50/50. When you mean a little low, is it below the low mark when hot?
  19. I really don't know how to describe it. It felt like a strong crank, but not synchronizied. What I mean is it felt like the engine was turning over and the best way I can think of is that it felt like it wanted to start, but then wouldn't then wnated to start again and then vroom, started. I think there was a bit of shakin as well. But started again this morning and very smooth as I would hope.
  20. Thanks SK, so no worries? I'm about to start her up this morning
  21. Wanted to know if anyone has had a similiar experience. I just changed out my oil and tranny fluid. Oil was 10W-30 Mobil1 ( about 3/4 to 1 quart short till I could see better what the level was). Went away on vacation and 4 days later I went to start it up. My Goodness, I never heard it sound so bad....It was as if it could not turn over as well as shaking like no tommorrow for about 2-3 seconds which seemed like eternity, then it trurned over by itself and ran normally. This has never happened and since that rough start, has not happened since. All I can think of is that I drained and filled a quart short and the Mobil1 must have drained off all the metal parts. Any thoughts? Should I be concerned?
  22. Personally, I would stay red, it may be a little more effort to get some distilled water, but it comes out a lot cheaper. I don't mind doing a drain an d fill annually anyways. I would think that if you did a flush of the red, I wouldn't think there would be a problem with adding the pink after a complete flush.
